Osseous Coagulum Trap Procedures and Sterilization Instructions

The Osseous Coagulum Trap offers an improved method of collecting osseous material. The O.C.T. is also excellent for retrieving root tips and precious metals. Osseous material is collected directly from the aspirator tip into a sterile filter.
The O.C.T. connects into a high volume cut-off valve or 1/4″ I.D. surgical tubing. Any surgical aspirator which fits into a high volume cut-off valve will fit into the O.C.T. cap.

PROCEDURE : When you reach the point in your procedure where you are ready to collect the osseous material, simply place the O.C.T. between the aspirator and cut-off valve or surgical tubing. As soon as you have collected the osseous material remove the O.C.T. trap. Failure to do so will cause the filter to become clogged or will dry out the osseous material because of the constant air flow through the trap. After harvesting the osseous material, dispose of the filter or keep the filter moist for cleaning and sterilization.

CLEANING

  • Filter basket should be kept moist to prevent material from drying to the mesh.
  • Rinse filter basket thoroughly and place in ultrasonic cleaner.(CAUTION: Do NOT place the metal cap or body in the utlrasonic)
  • Visually inspect filter mesh for tears or defects.

STERILIZATION

  • O.C.T. may be autoclaved, or chemiclaved.
  • Always sterilize filters and trap before use.

PRECAUTIONS
DO NOT put the metal O.C.T. cap or body in an ultrasonic cleaner. This will cause discoloration of the O.C.T.
