Using Instructions

The installation of the ACDelco 337-1123 Professional Starter involves a few specific steps. While the complete step-by-step installation guide was not available directly in the sources I checked, a typical starter installation involves these general steps:

  1. Disconnect the Battery : Always start by disconnecting the negative battery cable to ensure safety.
  2. Access the Starter : The exact location can vary by vehicle, but it is typically at the lower part of the engine block. You might need to remove components that obstruct access to the starter.
  3. Remove Old Starter : Disconnect the wiring from the starter before removing the bolts that hold the starter in place. Carefully take out the old starter.
  4. Install New Starter : Position the new ACDelco 337-1123 starter and secure it with bolts. Reconnect the wiring, making sure all connections are tight and secure.
  5. Reconnect Battery and Test : After the starter is installed, reconnect the battery cable and start the vehicle to ensure the new starter is functioning correctly.

Introduction

  • Remember, while this gives a general overview, your vehicle’s specific model might have particular requirements or steps that need to be followed.
  • Always refer to the vehicle’s service manual for precise instructions, or consider professional installation if you are not confident in performing the task yourself.
  • The ACDelco 337-1123 Professional Starter is part of ACDelco’s Gold (Professional) series and is designed to deliver reliable performance for most types of vehicles, particularly fitting some Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models.
  • This starter is a new (not remanufactured) unit that ensures it meets or exceeds the original equipment specifications.
  • For more details on specific applications and installation instructions, it’s recommended to consult the vehicle’s service manual or contact a professional technician to ensure compatibility and proper installation.

Maintenance

Maintaining the ACDelco 337-1123 Professional Starter involves several steps to ensure its longevity and optimal performance:

  1. Regular Inspection : Check the starter regularly for signs of wear and damage, such as frayed cables or loose connections. Ensure that all connections are tight and secure.
  2. Battery Maintenance : Since the starter relies on the battery, ensure the battery is always fully charged and in good condition. A failing battery can put extra strain on the starter.
  3. Check for Corrosion : Inspect the starter and its connections for corrosion. If corrosion is present, it should be cleaned off promptly to maintain good electrical connections and to prevent further damage.
  4. Listen for Symptoms : Be aware of how the starter sounds when the vehicle starts. Any changes in the sound, like grinding or clicking noises, can indicate a problem with the starter.
  5. Professional Servicing : If you suspect any issues with the starter, such as slow cranking or intermittent operation, it’s advisable to have it checked by a professional mechanic who can perform more detailed diagnostics and repairs if necessary.
  6. Avoid Unnecessary Strain : Try to avoid short trips that don’t allow the battery to charge fully, as consistently low battery charge can shorten the life of the starter.
