13. Do not use appliance without Lid properly closed. To fill the Electric Kettle open the Lid by pressing the Lid Open Button. To close, push the Lid down until it locks into place. A clicking sound will be heard which indicates the Lid is locked.

14. Scalding may occur if the Lid is removed during the brewing cycle.

15. The Kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.

16. This appliance should only be used to heat water.

17. Do not use the appliance with loose or weakened handle.

18. Do not clean Kettle with cleaners, steel wool, or other abrasive materials. To prevent damage to the appliance do not use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning; use a soft cloth and a mild detergent.

19. Refer to the “Care and Cleaning” section for instructions on cleaning the surfaces.

20. Do not overfill the appliance.

21. Never leave the appliance unattended while it is in operation.

22. To disconnect, turn any control to off, then remove plug from wall outlet.

23. This product is designed for indoor household use only. Not designed for commercial use.

24. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use. Do not touch hot surface. Use handles.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet. Do not remove ground prong. Do not use an adapter. Do not use an extension cord. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
Voltage: 120 V~
Frequency: 60 Hz
NOTE: The Electric Kettle has a 3 prong grounded plug. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug will fit in an outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit in the outlet, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance.

INSERTING AND REMOVING THE FILTER

Inserting the Filter: The Filter is located behind the spout inside the Electric Kettle. Open the Lid. Slide the Filter down into the slot behind the spout.

Removing the Filter: Open the Lid. Grasp the top of the Filter, behind the spout, and pull out to remove.

PRODUCT USAGE

BEFORE FIRST USE
Before first use, fill the Electric Kettle to the maximum level, then boil and discard the water.
NOTE: The Electric Kettle is designed for water only. Do not put any other liquids or substances in the Electric Kettle.

FILLING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE

1. Open the Lid of the Electric Kettle by pressing the Lid Open Button
2. Fill the Electric Kettle. There must be a minimum of 0.5 L to operate.
3. Push the Lid down until it locks into place. You will hear a clicking sound which indicates the Lid is locked.
4. Place the Electric Kettle on the Base.

SETTING THE WATER TEMPERATURE

1. Slide the Temperature Selector Lever on the Base to the desired setting (50-100°C).
2. Press Power Button ( ) on the side of the Base. The controls will light up and the Electric  Kettle will begin to heat.

NOTE: The Electric Kettle will stop automatically once the set temperature is reached. The heating cycle can also be turned off manually by pressing Power Button ( ).

The Electric Kettle can be turned off in several ways:

1. Press Power Button ( ) while in Heating Mode.
2. Unplug cord when Electric Kettle is not in use.

CARE AND CLEANING

IMPORTANT: Allow the appliance to cool completely before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

CLEANING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE AND BASE
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, always disconnect the Electric Kettle from electrical outlet and make sure that the Electric Kettle has cooled completely.

1. Wash Electric Kettle and Base by hand with a damp cloth. Dry and polish with a soft cloth. Abrasives and scouring agents of any kind are not recommended.

CLEANING THE FILTER

1. Remove Filter from Electric Kettle (see “Inserting and Removing the Filter” section); then rinse under running water.
2. Clean under hot water with a soft brush or cloth to remove deposits, and replace Filter by sliding the Filter into the slot behind the spout.

NOTE: If calcium deposits remain on the Filter, let it stand overnight in a solution of water and white vinegar. Rinse the Filter thoroughly and replace in the Electric Kettle.

DESCALING THE ELECTRIC KETTLE

Calcium deposits may form on the interior metal parts of the Electric Kettle. To get the best performance from the Electric Kettle, clean periodically. The cleaning interval will depend on the hardness of the water put into the Electric Kettle. The use of a commercial descaler is recommended.

If a commercial descaler is not available:

1. Fill the Electric Kettle with white vinegar to the minimum 0.5 L mark. A. Vinegar
   B. Water

2. Add water to the 1 L mark.

3. Boil and allow to stand overnight.

4. Empty the solution from the Electric Kettle.

5. Fill the Electric Kettle with water, bring to a boil and drain out the water. Repeat this step twice. The Electric Kettle is now ready to use.

LIMITED WARRANTY AND SERVICE

KITCHENAID® PRODUCT WARRANTY FOR THE 50 UNITED STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, PUERTO RICO, AND CANADA
This limited warranty extends to the original purchaser and any succeeding owner for the product operated in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
Length of Warranty: One Year Limited Warranty from date of delivery.

1. KitchenAid Will Pay for Your Choice of: Hassle-Free Replacement of your product. See the “Arranging for Service” section in this warranty for details on how to arrange for service, or call the Customer eXperience Center toll-free at 1-800-541-6390.
   OR
   The replacement parts and repair labor costs to correct defects in materials and workmanship that existed at the time this product was purchased. Service will be provided by an Authorized KitchenAid Service Center.

2. KitchenAid Will Not Pay for (What is Not Covered By This Limited Warranty):

   • Commercial, non-residential, or multiple family use or use inconsistent with product instructions and manuals.
   • Defects or damage resulting from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, fire flood, or acts of God.
   • Any shipping or handling costs to deliver your product to an Authorized Service Center.
   • Replacement parts or repair labor costs for the product operated outside the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
   • Damages, defects, or repairs caused by unauthorized servicers or use of non-genuine or third-party parts; however, use of unauthorized service providers or non-genuine or third-party parts will not void this warranty.
   • Cosmetic damage (e.g., scratches, dents, chips, and other damage to finishes), unless damage results from defects in materials and workmanship and is reported to KitchenAid within 30 days from date of delivery.
   • Discoloration, rust or oxidation of surfaces resulting from caustic or corrosive environments (e.g., high salt concentrations, high moisture or humidity or exposure to chemicals).
   • Products with original, factory-installed model/serial numbers removed, altered or not easily determined.
   • Incidental or consequential damages resulting from product failure.
   • Consumable parts or accessories.

3. DISCLAIMER OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES
   Implied warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability or implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to ten years or the shortest period allowed by law. Some states and provinces do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties of merchantability or fitness, so this limitation may not apply to you.

4. HOW STATE LAW APPLIES
   This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state or province to province. Some states and provinces, such as California, do not allow for limitations on the date your warranty coverage begins, so this limitation may not apply to you.
