  • Follow all manufacturer’s instructions and guidelines for the safe operation and maintenance of the device.
  • Before using the device, ensure your work area is clean, dry, and free of debris that may pose a hazard. Keep children and bystanders away while using this device.
  • Ensure that the device is properly maintained and functioning properly.
  • Stay focused and alert while operating equipment. DO NOT use equipment while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
  • DO NOT overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the device in unexpected situations.
  • When using the device, be aware of your surroundings and avoid operating it near other people or moving machinery.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  • If the device plugs into a wall socket ensure that the device is properly grounded and a circuit breaker or fuse protects the power supply.
  • DO NOT expose equipment to rain or wet conditions while charging. Always dry off the device when charging it to reduce the chance of an electric shock.

BATTERY SAFETY

(does not apply to otoscopes without batteries)

  • Only use manufacturer-recommended chargers. Using incompatible chargers could damage the device.
  • If the device begins to emit an unusual odor, heat up excessively, or show signs of swelling or deformation, stop using it immediately and contact the manufacturer for assistance.
  • DO NOT attempt to disassemble or remove the battery in any way, as this can be dangerous and may cause fire or explosion.
  • DO NOT put the device in a fire or increase the temperature of the device above the operational limit. Do not leave the device in direct sunlight for extended periods. Damage to the battery can occur.
  • If the device will not be used for an extended period, please charge the device at least once every 3 months to avoid the battery discharging completely and risking permanent damage.

USE AND CARE

  • Before operating a ScopeAround otoscope, read and understand the operator’s manual and instructions for any other equipment used with this tool.
  • This instrument is not intended to be used for eye examination.
  • The otoscope must only be used by someone who has read and is familiar with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Clean and disinfect the camera before and after each use.
  • If smoke or abnormal noise is detected, stop using it and turn off the otoscope immediately.
  • DO NOT place the otoscope anywhere with a live electrical charge. This increases the risk of electrical shock. DO NOT use the product in a busy environment with other people. Take care to avoid someone bumping into you while you are performing an ear examination.
  • This product is not suitable for children under one year old. This device is intended for adult use and can be used on adults, children, and pets – children are not permitted to use it.
  • Don’t clean your ear canal excessively. Prolonged use may cause irritation or damage to the ear canal. Stop using the otoscope if it overheats.
  • Stop using this device immediately if you experience any discomfort.
  • Contact your doctor, or a certified health professional, if you experience any discomfort.
  • Using the device for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
  • Keep handles dry and clean; free from oil and grease. Clean, dry handles allow for better control of the equipment.
  • DO NOT submerge the device under water.
  • If your device has a separate monitor screen, the screen may be wiped clean with a damp cloth, but it should not be placed under running water.
  • This device cannot replace a doctor or medical provider’s diagnosis or treatment.

ACCESSORY SAFETY

  • Use only manufacturer-recommended accessories for your equipment.
  • DO NOT use the otoscope in your ear without the speculum on it when you are examining your ear canal. Sanitize the specula and ear spoon per the instructions before using them.
  • DO NOT share the speculum or ear spoons between people.
  • Dispose of specula and ear spoons after each use.
  • Only use an earpoon in a quiet room free from distractions.
  • Take great care when using ear spoons. Do not push ear spoons too far down your ear canal, and avoid touching your eardrum and your ear canal.

CLEANING

  • Turn off and unplug the device before cleaning.
  • Clean the camera lens before and after each use with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Don’t use too much rubbing alcohol and don’t use pure isopropyl alcohol.
  • If you are having trouble seeing a clear image, make sure to check that the camera lens is clean. Use a small cotton swab to clean off any ear wax or dirt that may have accumulated on it.
  • The screen and monitor can be rid of dust and fingerprints by using a microfiber cloth with a few drops of warm water.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or solvents as they can damage the device’s surface or internal components.
  • Avoid getting moisture in any openings or ports of the device. Allow the device to fully dry before plugging it in or using it.
  • DO NOT wipe or press the lens of the otoscope excessively, it may damage the lens.
  • DO NOT attempt to disinfect the otoscope using glutaraldehyde products, ethylene oxide gas, steam, or any other liquid or gas disinfectant.

STORAGE

  • Store the device in its case when not in use.
  • Store idle equipment out of the reach of children and DO NOT allow persons unfamiliar with the equipment or these instructions to operate the equipment.
  • Make sure the power is turned off before putting the device into the carrying case.
  • Keep the device out of direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humid environments.
  • Store the device away from sharp objects, heavy items, or anything that could cause damage to it.
  • Avoid storing the device near magnets or devices that generate strong magnetic fields.
