Playing The Game
Once you’ve laid the trail and jewels, call the child(ren) to the game board
and give them the loot bag. Tell them a tale to set the scene. There’s
treasure hidden somewhere in the house or garden … maybe pirates left it;
maybe some cheeky pixies did … it’s their job to follow the trail and find it.
To start: turn over the card on the game board and lay it face up. That’s clue
number 1. Players need to find that “location” to lead them to the next clue!
Of course, that “location” might be hard to find. In our set-up example, the
first clue was BED. There might be lots of beds to search in your house. There
might even be a dog’s bed! That’s where the fun comes in!
Each time they find a clue, players must return to the game board, place the
clue on the board, and exchange it for a jewel (which can be placed in the red
loot bag).
The game ends when the players find the golden treasure bar. To prove they
have completed the trail, all 10 clue cards should be face up on the board,
and 9 jewels should be in the loot bag.

Are you ready for adventure and some fabulous treasure-filled fun?! Then let’s
get started …
**Aim of the Game!
**
Its simple! Follow the trail of clues that leads to the golden treasure bar.
If youre really lucky, there might be some loot hidden inside it!
Set-Up (Grown Ups: this is your bit!)
Make sure the kids aren’t watching! And pay attention – this first set-up
is a brain-strain!
Step 1: Choose 10 clue cards to use for the trail.
Step 2: Select your first card (e.g. BED) and place face down on the game
board.
Step 3: Walk to your first “location” (e.g. BED). Hide the SECOND card (e.g.
TABLE) in this location.
Step 4: Walk to your next “location” (e.g. TABLE). Hide the THIRD card here.
Step 5: Repeat until you have hidden all 9 cards.
Step 6: Walk to the final “location” and hide the golden treasure bar. If
youre feeling generous (!), you can pop an extra treat or reward (like a
promise of a trip to the park) inside the box.
Step 7: Return to the game board and place 9 jewels on the circles shown on
the board.
Use yellow clue cards for indoor trails; green for outdoor trails;
purple for indoor & outdoor trails.
Riddle clues are great for older kids, picture clues for younger kids.
Use a mix of both when playing in teams.
Parenting Hack
Older kids love the challenge of laying trails for younger ones or creating
clues using the blank cards! Teach them how to do it and you’ll be repaid with
down time for a coffee!
