Product Usage Instructions

Volume, Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble Controls:
Adjust the VOLUME to control the output volume of the drive
side. Use the GAIN control to adjust the level of drive from light overdrive to heavier tones. The BASS, MIDS, and TREBLE controls allow you to fine-tune the bass, mids, and treble responses of the drive respectively.

Boost and Lows Controls:
Use the BOOST control to boost or attenuate your signal. The LOWS control adds low-end to the boost side for fat clean sounds.

Footswitches:
The LEFT FOOTSWITCH turns the drive side on/off, while the RIGHT FOOTSWITCH turns the boost side on/off.

Troubleshooting:
If the internal DC/DC converter fails to start up or the LEDs stutter, wait for a minute before using the power adapter to allow for a reset.

• Congratulations on your purchase of THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING, the Signature pedal of the supremely talented Chris Buck. THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is put simply a fully featured tube/valve overdrive with a clean boost to allow Chris to achieve his signature sound from one flexible box, no matter what backline he has access to. The use of this pedal will now allow you vast flexibility over your guitar tone to enhance and improve your sound.
• OVERVIEW: THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is a creation designed to meet the exacting needs of Chris Buck who utilizes a wide palette of sounds from crystal clear and punchy cleans through to nicely saturated overdrive. THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING has two sides: a complex valve overdrive with 3 band Eq and a high headroom super clean boost on the right. The pedal is designed so that the boost runs into the valve overdrive side. This arrangement yields three distinct tonal variations ranging from clean boost all the way through to full and fat saturation. The pedal is designed to clean up impeccably from your volume control and as such it is ideal for dynamic players who like to constantly adjust their playing style.
• VOLUME: Use this control to increase the volume output of the drive side of pedal.
• GAIN: This control is used to increase the level of drive available on the drive side of the pedal, everything from lightly crispy through to heavier sounds is available here.
• BASS: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the bass response of the drive. Clockwise yields bass rich sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
• MIDS: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the mids response of the drive. Clockwise yields mids focused sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
• TREBLE: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the treble response of the drive. Clockwise yields treble focused sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
• BOOST: This control gives you control to boost or attenuate your signal, use it on its own as part of the boost side of the pedal or when stacked into the drive it can really make the pedal sing with complex harmonics and layered overdrive.
• LOWS: This control gives you control to add low end to the boost side of the pedal and fatten up your signal for crystal clear but fat clean sounds.
• LEFT FOOTSWITCH: This turns the drive side on/off.
• RIGHT FOOTSWITCH: This turns the boost side on/off.

POWER and CURRENT

THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is designed to work at voltages of 12V DC. On power up, the inrush current can be as high as 700mA settling to 280-300mA during use. This should be provided from the supplied centre negative power supply. However, we understand that lots of you prefer your own supplies so in those scenarios pay heed to the following guidance. Firstly, DO NOT attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or polarities. Secondly, as per its namesake Jet, THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING pedal is a thirsty pedal, thirsty for current. We supply a 1000mA 12V centre negative adaptor to power the pedal because of the pedals need for strong, stable voltage and current. In testing of other supplies (we have many) we have found a quality 500mA 12V centre negative DC supply can do the job but just takes longer to get to the correct
“steady state”. It’s important to know however that some power supplies play a little fast and loose with their description of “mA available”. If for example you’ve maxed out all the outlets on your supply, you may find the supply can’t actually give you 500mA from a single outlet. If your power supply can’t provide the requisite current, one of two things happens:

1. The internal DC/DC convertor won’t start up and the pedal wont power up properly.
2. The pedal LEDS stutter and flash on/off. And the pedal won’t work.

In either scenario you need to wait a minute or so before using the supplied power adaptor, this gives the DC/DC converter time to “reset” and then the voltages and everything needed will work.

To ensure consistency, reliability, low noise and tonal supremacy the ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is made with extremely high quality components. 1% metalfilm resistors, WIMA and Panasonic capacitors where possible and robust through hole plated PCB’S. In short, all of this means you won’t have to worry about your pedal, and it should give you many years of inspiring tonal bliss.

WARRANTY

The ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is guaranteed for 2 years against manufacturing faults or defects. This guarantee is applicable to the original owner and is not transferable.
