The NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® is the world’sfirst solid dielectric insulated Load Break Switchwith visible internal isolation.
Enabled by advanced composite material manufacturing techniques and verified througharduous aging and dielectric performance teststhe NOJA Power VISI- SWITCH® is the start of a Load Break Switch Revolution.
Drawing on NOJA Power’s two decades of solid dielectric insulation and switchgear designexpertise, the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH®combines a vacuum interrupter in series withan enclosed isolator, all housed in an advanced polymer housing. With the Vacuum Interrupter completing the electrical make and break, the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® can interrupt current orders of magnitude greater than existing solutions. An air-insulated isolator, actuated in series with the vacuum interrupter, provides the isolation.
The unique advantage of this product is the inclusion of a viewing window in the insulation material. This provides operators with irrefutable evidence of switchgear state, visible from 30 metres away. Operators can visibly verify safe isolation of the associated circuit.
The switch is sealed in a stainless-steel tank, making the product maintenance free for its entire 30 year service life in even the most demanding outdoor pole-mount conditions.
The NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® continues the commitment to zero-SF6 in distribution switchgear, providing engineers with a reliable, safe and environmentally friendly alternative to legacy SF6 or air insulated load break switches.
And finally, as with all NOJA Power Switchgear, the product is Arc Fault Vented providing added assurance of safety for both operators and the public in the equipment’s vicinity.

The Load Break Switch Revolution: Enclosed Visible Isolation

NOJA Power’s VISI-SWITCH’s patented visible break design inspires confidence in power systems operators. The viewing window allows an unobstructed view of the state of the switch from an operator standing on the ground. The iridescent/reflective red paint coated isolator contact provides high visibility through the window irrespective of time or environment.
Designed to serve in outdoor environments for 30 years without discoloration, the viewing window is scratch resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures and weather. The switch meets IK08 impact ratings on all parts, including the viewing window. Insulation System
The insulation system comprises a conductor system embedded in solid dielectric. Silicone bushings provide external insulation outside of the powder coated stainless steel tank. Silicone Rubber Boots fitted over the bushings provide the clearances and creepages required for the various ratings.
Surge arrestors are mountable on all six (6) bushings and earthed through the tank. The switch is also compatible with Explosive tail surge arrestors, and there are surge arrestor mounting options at both the top and bottom of the switch.

INSTALLATION

The switch is mountable on timber poles with a keyhole arrangement or concrete poles using banded straps. The switch supports the following installation configurations:

  • Mounted to the pole above the power line
  • Mounted to the pole below the power line

Prior to pole mounting, the switch must have the mounting bracket, surge arrestors and cable tails fitted.
The hanging bracket is mountable above or below the crossarm. The switch is omnidirectional, giving installation flexibility in the operating arm positioning.
A crane, pole mounted hoist or EPV are all suitable for safe lifting of the assembled NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH. Lifting points on the switch facilitate safe installation of the assembly. The switch is to remain within 15 degrees of horizontal whilst lifting. The switch earthing connection is an M12 stud. Earthing leads must meet the minimum 35m 2 cross section.
Installation only requires hand tools, namely adjustable spanners and Allen keys. All fasteners must be capable of withstanding the maximum load applied by a human with a standard spanner.

OPERATION

Manual operation of the NOJA Power VISI-SWITCH® is possible from the ground in a single motion using an extended hook stick which directly reaches the switch.
Alternatively, an insulated down rod assembly build option can be used to move the operating mechanism further down the pole. This design allows a shorter hook stick to be used.
