Product Usage Instructions

Indicator Lights
The indicator lights on the switch provide information about the device’s status:

  • 1000M Optical Port: Green light indicates link/act, yellow light indicates speed.
  • 10/100/1000M Ethernet Port: Green light indicates link/act, yellow light indicates speed.

PoE Powered Function
The switch supports PoE powered functions, allowing for power and data transmission over a single Ethernet cable. It complies with standard PoE power supply protocols.

States of DIP Switch
The DIP switches on the switch serve various functions:

  1. PoE Watchdog: Automatically detects and restarts port POE when communication fails.
  2. Link Extension: Extends PoE power supply and data transmission distance to 250 meters.
  3. Port Isolation: Enables monitoring traffic levels and communication restrictions between ports.
  4. Storm Control: Drops packets when specified traffic levels are exceeded.

Installation Precautions
Before installing the switch, ensure to follow these precautions:

  • Avoid direct exposure to the optical port’s laser beam.
  • Install power cord only when the power is off to prevent personal injury.
  • Ensure ESD protection during installation and maintenance.

Switch Installation
The switch supports various installation methods including desktop, wall- mounted, and rack-mounted. Follow these steps for rack mount installation:

  1. Install floating screws on the front hole bar of the cabinet on each side.
  2. Load the equipment into the cabinet.
  3. Secure the equipment with M6 screws to the cabinet/rack.
  4. Install an earth wire for grounding.

FAQ

  • How can I extend the PoE power supply distance?
To extend the PoE power supply distance, use the Link Extension function on the DIP switch which allows for transmission up to 250 meters at a reduced speed of 10M.

  • What should I do if the indicator lights show abnormal behavior?
If the indicator lights display abnormal behavior, ensure that the connections are secure and properly configured. If issues persist, contact Speco Technologies technical support for assistance.

PoE Powered Function

This function is applicable to PoE switches, not applicable to non-PoE switches.

Standard PoE Power Supply

  1. Standard PoE power supply includes: protocol detection, power pin sequence Detection, power output, abnormal protection, link abnormal monitoring
  2. The PoE power supply protocol includes: IEEE802.3af(15.4W), IEEE802.3at(30W)
  3. The standard PoE power pin sequence is 12+/36-,and the passive PoE power pin sequence is 45+/78-
  4. The standard POE switches can automatically detect and supply power to the PDs that meet the standard,non-POE devices are not powered and only transmit data
  5. PoE Watchdog
When the switch port communication fails, the corresponding port POE will automatically detect and restart, restore network communication by itself, and reduce manual intervention and maintenance.
