General safety messages
WARNING : Flooding hazard. Failure to obey the following warnings could result in death or serious injury.
- If the toilet is connected to any through-the-hull fittings, always close the seacocks when the toilet is not in use (even if boat is unattended for a brief period). All passengers must be instructed on how to close the valves when the toilet is not in use.
- If the toilet uses fresh water for flushing and is connected directly or indirectly to a shoreside municipal water system at any time, shoreside water connections must be disconnected if the boat is unattended (even if the boat is unattended for a brief period).
- Before beginning any work on this product, be sure that all electrical power to the unit has been turned off and that the seacocks are in the closed or off position.
NOTICE: Overfilling the holding tank can cause serious damage to the sanitation system, such as rupturing the holding tank and releasing tank contents into the bilge. To prevent this possibility, Dometic recommends using a full tank shut-down relay. The full signal from the holding tank can be generated by an optional Dometic DTM01C tank monitor or DTM04 four-level tank monitor system.
- Follow all local regulations for waste tank discharge.
Intended use
The Macerator toilet (hereinafter referred to as toilet or product) provides
an electric-flush toilet that macerates waste and pumps it either to a holding
tank or other effluent storage/disposal system, or overboard. Operated by a
remote flush switch, the toilet allows the user to add water to the bowl
(before or after flushing) and to flush the toilet by pushing a button. This
toilet is designed for use in marine applications and is only suitable for the
intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides information that is necessary for proper operation of the
toilet. Poor installation and/or improper operating or maintenance will result
in unsatisfactory performance and a possible failure. The manufacturer accepts
no liability for any injury or damage to the product resulting from:
- Incorrect assembly or connection, including excess voltage
- Incorrect maintenance or use of spare parts other than original spare parts provided by the manufacturer
- Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
- Use for purposes other than those described in this manual

Operation
NOTICE: Failure to obey the following may cause clogging or damage to the toilet, toilet components, or toilet system.
- Do not operate the toilet without the water supply turned on.
- Do not flush foreign objects. Flush only water, bodily wastes, and rapid-dissolving toilet tissue.
- Do not flush wet wipes, sanitary napkins, condoms, diapers, paper cups, cotton swabs, food, hair, or liquids such as oils or solvents.
- Make sure all guests understand toilet operation before use.
Toilet tissue paper
To avoid potential clogging problems with some household toilet tissues,
Dometic recommends using quick-dissolving tissue, such as Dometic rapid
dissolving 1-ply or 2-ply toilet tissue.
- Not every marine-grade toilet tissue paper dissolves rapidly.
- To determine any toilet tissue’s ability to dissolve, immerse one square of the tissue in a jar of water and shake 5-10 times. The tissue sample should break up so that it is no longer in one piece.
Freshwater flush

Toilet system start-up
- Turn on the fresh water supply to the toilet.
- Press the Flush switch and hold for at least 10 seconds.
- Toss several sheets of toilet paper into the bowl and repeat the cycle. The bowl should completely clear.
Normal flushing
Adding water to toilet bowl
Press the Add Water switch until the desired water level is achieved.
More water is usually added only when flushing solids.
- Do not press the Add Water switch too long or overflow may occur.
Flushing toilet
Press the Flush switch down and hold until the waste drains from the toilet
bowl (about 10-20 seconds).
To use less water for liquid-only flushes, press the Flush switch for a
shorter period of time.
The switch activates a macerator pump that siphons water and waste from the
bowl, macerates, and propels the effluent to the discharge line/holding tank.
Sea water flush

Toilet system start-up
- Open the sea water inlet and the toilet discharge outlet seacocks.
- Press the Flush switch and hold for at least 10 seconds.
- Toss several sheets of toilet paper into the bowl and repeat the cycle. The bowl should be completely clear.
Normal flushing
Press the Flush switch down and hold until the waste drains from the toilet
bowl (about 10-20 seconds).
- To use less water for liquid-only flushes, press the Flush switch for a shorter period of time.
- If the toilet bowl does not completely flush and fills up with sea water during the flush, partially close the inlet valve until the bowl clears and completely discharges the effluent. Then, with the inlet and discharge valves completely open, flush the toilet for a few seconds to clear the toilet and discharge system.
The switch activates a macerator pump that siphons water and waste from the bowl, macerates, and propels the effluent to the discharge line.
During extended periods of non-use
NOTICE: During the water evacuation process, do not operate the sea water pump
very long without water. The pump impeller may become damaged.
The macerator toilet and sanitation hoses should be protected if the toilet
will not be needed for an extended period of time (more than two weeks,
especially in hot weather).
- Flush the toilet and add 4 oz (118 ml) of liquid biodegradable laundry detergent (should not contain bleach or environmentally harmful substances).
- If using sea water for flushing, shut off the power to the sea water pump and add fresh water directly into the bowl during the flush cycle.
- Flush the toilet at least five times.
- Turn off the water supply to the toilet.
- lush the toilet without water very briefly to evacuate all water. This procedure will minimize any remaining water in the macerator pump.
- Turn of the power to the toilet.
- After extended periods of non-use, the toilet and pump may be dry. For an easier restart of the toilet system, add 1 qt (0.9 L) of water to the bowl and let it stand for a few minutes before use.
Troubleshooting

The flush function works, but the water in the bowl empties slowly or not at

The discharge piping is too high. All upward vertical loops should not exceed
a total of 4 ft (1.2 m) in height.| Reroute the discharge piping.

clear any blockage.
The macerator pump makes unusually loud noises or continually trips the
circuit breaker.| There is foreign material in the pump chamber.| Close the
seacocks and clear any foreign material.

The intake water filters are blocked (in raw water system).| Clear the water
filters.
The water valve is malfunctioning.| Replace the water valve.
The water impeller is malfunctioning (raw water flush toilet).| Replace the
raw water impeller.
Disposal
Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins, whenever possible. Consult a local recycling center or specialist dealer for details about how to dispose of the product in accordance with all applicable national and local regulations.
