Definition of terms
Machine
In these operating instructions, the laboratory washer is referred to as “the machine”.
Load items
The term “load items” is used wherever the items to be processed are not defined in any further detail.
Wash water
The term “wash water” is used for the mixture of water and process chemicals.

Appropriate use

This APLW 631 insert can be used to reprocess machine-reprocessable breathing masks in a Miele washer-disinfector. Follow he operating instructions for your washer-disinfector as well as the instructions of the breathing masks manufacturer on how toreprocess their items by machine.
The APLW 631 insert can be used together with the following load carriers:

Disposal of the packing material
The packaging is designed to protect against transportation damage.
The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled. Recycling the packaging reduces the use of raw materials in the manufacturing process and also reduces the amount of waste in landfill sites.
Optional accessories

– APLW 873, 6 x carabiner hooks and hangers in 6 colours

Warnings and safety notes

Read the operating instructions carefully before using this insert.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place.
  Please also read the operating instructions for your washerdisinfector and pay particular attention to the Warning and Safety instructions.

  • The inserts are only approved for use in the applications stated in the operating instructions. Applications that go beyond those listed and use of the inserts with additional components from the Miele range of components are described in the operating instructions of the components or are to be agreed with Miele. Conversions, modifications and any other use are not permitted.
  • Prior to being used for the first time, new inserts must undergo thorough cleaning in the washer-disinfector without load items.
  • Inspect all mobile units, baskets, modules and inserts as described in the “Maintenance” section of the operating instructions for your machine.
  • Only items which have been declared by their manufacturer as suitable for machine reprocessing may be processed. The manufac- turer’s specific reprocessing instructions must be observed.
  • Follow the warnings and instructions provided by the breathing apparatus manufacturer.
  • Any seals on the load items should be protected against prolonged contact with wash water. Therefore, always close unused connec- tions with protective caps or blind covers.
  • The last rinse, as a minimum, must be carried out with DI water.
  • Disposable items must not be reprocessed.

  • Place the insert on the worktop and ensure that it is securely positioned.
  • Open the lids of the small parts baskets.

Pre-cleaning breathing masks

  • Check whether the breathing mask requires manual pre-cleaning, e.g. to remove soot.
  • If required, carry this pre-cleaning out in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Dismantling the breathing mask

  • Dismantle the breathing mask in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Place the small parts in a small parts basket.
  • Place the inner mask in the small parts basket with the curved hollow side facing down.
  • Close the lid of the small parts basket.
  • Place the mask on top of the small parts basket.

Make sure that the small parts in the small parts basket and the mask placed on top belong together.
Colour markings can be used if necessary. APLW 873, carabiner hooks and hangers are available as optional accessories.
Arranging breathing masks Place the small parts baskets and the breathing masks positioned on top in the APLW 631 insert.
Arrange the small parts baskets so that the visors of the breathing masks alternate between pointing left and right.
In the case of larger breathing masks, the bottom edge of the mask may rest on the frame of the insert. Risk of damage to visors.
If visors are in contact with each other, they can become scratched during the loading and unloading process.
Arrange the masks in such a way that the visors do not touch each other.
Placing the insert in the load carrier
Lift the insert at the side handles.
Place the insert in the load carrier of the machine.
Loading the APLW 152
Combinations of ALPW 630 and APLW 631 are not intended to be used in the APLW 152 lower basket.
Example load for E 975/2 E 975/2 with 3 x APLW 630 for breathing masks and 3 x APLW 631 for air regulators
After reprocessing

  • Take the insert out of the load carrier of the cleaning machine.
  • Remove the breathing masks and empty any remaining water into the wash cabinet or an on-site slops basin before removing items.
  • Follow the breathing mask manufacturer’s instructions regarding drying, assembly and replacing wear parts.

Risk of infection
Before using the breathing apparatus again following reprocessing, carry out a function check in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.
