Charging

The internal battery may be charged by providing power to the USB-C port. Charge current is typically 250mA max. Dead batteries will fully charge in about 3 hours. Set the power switch to “1” (on) to see charge LED status, orange=charging, green=charged.
Battery will continue to charge until full, as long as USB power is provided, even if the power switch is off (0). Set switch to “0” if you do not wish the device to operate while charging. Prolonged USB charging will not harm the device. Charging or powering through a 6 pin connector is also permitted. Input must be 4.7-6.3 VDC.

Connecting VHF Antenna

If Cell-CAT’s VHF transmitter will be utilized, connect a VHF antenna to the MMCX connector near power switch. Push in firmly until it snaps in place. Pull to remove antenna. For best transmission, the antenna should be as straight as possible and away from metallic objects.

Powering On

Slide power switch to “1.” Cell-CAT will illuminate LEDs during initialization:

GPS Status

  • Flashing YELLOW–Acquiring Satellite Fix
  • Steady GREEN–Satellite Fix Acquired
  • Solid RED–Unable to Acquire Satellite Fix

Cell Connection

  • Steady BLUE–Initializing Cell-CAT
  • Flashing YELLOW–Connecting to Cell Network
  • Steady GREEN–Connected to Cell Network
  • Solid RED–Unable to connect to Cell network

Note: After initialization, GPS, and Cell connections, LEDs will go dark and stay dark until power is turned off and on again. NO LEDs will light under any condition if unit is set to “covert” mode.

Configuration

To configure Cell-CAT refer to Cell-CAT Programming Guide.

Cellular Connectivity

Cell-CAT utilizes 4G LTE-M cellular connectivity to report data and may be configured via iOS app or server using cellular connection.

Cleaning
To clean Cell-CAT, use a damp towel with mild soap or rubbing alcohol. Do not rinse in water. Cell-CAT is not water-resistant.

Warning
Cell-CAT contains a Lithium-Ion battery pack and requires proper disposal. Do not dispose of in fire or incinerate.

Keep-out area
Cell-CAT has internal GPS and cellular antennas. For best signal reception, keep metallic objects away from areas bounded by dashed-lines on top and bottom.
