Product Usage Instructions:

Start-Up:

  1. Install the Lamp module (Refer to Page 3 of the manual).
  2. Install the Optical band pass filter (Refer to Page 4 of the manual).
  3. Plug the unit into a grounded AC outlet.
  4. Turn on the Power switch located at the back of the unit.
  5. The light ring will illuminate followed by the display initializing.

Warning: Allow the lamp to warm up without interruption to avoid impacting lamp life and warranty avoidance.

Installing the Light Guide:

  1. Remove protective end caps from the light guide.
  2. Insert the light guide into the port on the front of the unit until it clicks into place.

Note: The colour of the light ring indicates the system state.

Using the OmniCure S1500 Pro:

  1. On startup, access the Home screen displaying Information, Run, and Settings options.
  2. To begin running exposures, press the Lamp icon to strike the lamp after warm-up.
  3. Ensure proper warm-up for stable optical output (recommended 20 minutes).

Running Exposures:

  1. Access the RUN screen once the Lamp is powered on.
  2. Set exposure time and intensity.
  3. Start exposures using the START/STOP switch or screen controls.

Setting Exposure Time:

  1. Navigate to the timer window, and adjust time using Up/Down buttons or the keypad.
  2. Set value to 0 for Count Up mode.

Setting Exposure Intensity:

  1. Navigate to the intensity window, and adjust intensity using controls or keypad.

Locking and Unlocking the System:

  1. Select LOCK icon on RUN screen, and enter PIN to lock system (Default PIN: 1234).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  • Q: How long should I allow the lamp to warm up before starting exposure?
    A: It is recommended to allow the lamp to warm up for at least 20 minutes to ensure stable optical output.

  • Q: What should I do if the light guide is not detected?
    A: Ensure that the light guide is properly inserted into the port on the front of the unit. If the issue persists, refer to troubleshooting in the user manual or contact customer support.

Start Up

  1. Install the Lamp module (See Page 3).
  2. Install the Optical band pass filter (See Page 4).
  3. Plug the unit into an appropriately grounded AC outlet.
  4. Turn on the Power switch located at the back of the unit.
  5. The light ring will light up followed by the display initializing.
    Note : The system will initiate the lamp strike procedure at startup by default (this can be changed in the settings – Default Lamp state).
    If the Default Lamp state setting has been modified to OFF, the lamp strike procedure can be initiated by pressing the Lamp icon.
    Warning: Allow the lamp to warm-up uninterrupted, do not unplug the system while the lamp is warming up. Doing so adversely impacts the lamp life and may void the warranty of your lamp.

Installing the Light Guide

  1. Remove the protective end caps from the light guide.

  2. Insert the light guide into the light guide port on the front of the unit until it sets with a positive click.
    Note: When the system is powered on, the color of the light ring indicates the state of the system as follows:

  3. Red: Light Guide not detected

  4. Blue: Light Guide inserted, Lamp strike procedure running

  5. White: Light Guide Inserted, Lamp off

  6. Purple: Light Guide inserted, Lamp on

Using the OmniCure S1500 Pro

  1. On startup, the OmniCure S1500 Pro will display 3 options on the Home screen: Information, Run and Settings.
  2. Information and Settings can be accessed while the lamp is turned off or warming up.
  3. To start running exposures, press the Lamp icon to strike the lamp. Allow the lamp to warm-up (Excelitas recommends 20 minutes of proper warm-up to ensure stable optical output). During the warm-up period, the screen will indicate the minimum warm-up count-down.
  4. Warning: UV light and elevated levels of visible light will be emitted from the end of the light guide.

Running Exposures

  1. Once the Lamp is powered on, you can access the RUN screen by touching the Run icon on the screen.
  2. Set the exposure time and intensity.
  3. Exposures can be started by the START/STOP switch or by touching PLAY on the screen.
  4. Exposures can be run for a pre-set time or indefinitely using the count-up mode.
  5. If count down timer has run out or you interrupt the exposure, the exposure will reset.
  6. You can leave the RUN screen only when an exposure is not running.

Setting the Exposure Time

  1. Use the navigation buttons to navigate to the timer window, press OK and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust time or press the timer window icon and enter desired count down time on number pad (in 0.2s increments).
  2. Set value to 0 to operate the system in Count Up mode.

Setting the Exposure Intensity
Use the navigation buttons to navigate to the intensity window, press OK and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust exposure intensity or press the intensity window icon and enter the desired intensity using the keypad (in 1% increments).

Locking and Unlocking the System

  1. On the RUN screen, select the LOCK icon and enter the PIN to lock the system (Default PIN 1234).
  2. When the system is locked, the user cannot exit the screen or change any of the exposure settings. The user can only initiate or stop/ reset the exposure using the Start/Stop button, Play Icon, or Foot Pedal. If running a StepCure® profile, user can only initiate, stop, or reset the exposure with the pre-defined inputs.
  3. To unlock the system, select the UNLOCK icon and enter the PIN.
    Note : The PIN can be changed by navigating to Settings → Advanced Setup → Screen Lock Pin.

Using the Foot Pedal / Remote Device (Rear Panel: 3.5mm Jack)
Depressing the foot pedal, or providing a momentary contact closure, provides the same function as pressing the start/stop button.

Installing the Lamp Module

The OmniCure S1500 Pro UV curing system is available with the choice of two different lamps. UV1 standard curing lamp and UV3 Surface curing lamp, choose the appropriate lamp for your curing needs.
Warning : Exposure to Mercury represents a health hazard to humans. When unpacking or installing the lamp, always wear protective clothing and a facemask.

  1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the unit.

  2. Remove the screws from the lamp access side panel using the tool (3mm Allen key) provided and remove the cover panel from the unit.

  3. Carefully remove the lamp module from its container, handling only by the ceramic component and glass rim.
    Warning : Wear ESD protective equipment when handling the lamp and avoid touching the circuit board.

  4. As illustrated, position the lamp facing towards the front of the unit with the power cords facing towards you.
    Warning : Do not touch the bulb’s glass envelope or the inside surface of the reflector. Skin oils can cause the lamp module to fail prematurely.

  5. Make sure the middle of the lamp is in position to fit into the spring clamp. Slide the lamp until it snaps into the spring clamp. The leading edge of the reflector should fit snugly into the lamp holder recess.

  6. Locate the 6-pin Intelli-Lamp® sensor connector at the rear of the lamp module and connect it to its mate located behind the lamp housing wall.
    Note : The Intelli-lamp connector will only attach in the correct orientation. If you are having difficulty attaching the connector, try rotating it by 180º.

  7. Tuck the Intelli-Lamp wires into the grommet located on the divider wall between the lamp and the connector.
    Waring : Failure to do so will result in the door not fully closing and the system will not power on.

  8. Locate the Power connector with two leads and connect it to its mate located on the bottom of the lamp housing wall.
    Tip: The Lamp Power connector will only attach in the correct orientation. If you are having difficulty inserting the connector, try rotating it by 180º.

  9. Ensure that the lamp anode cooling fin (bar) and lamp power lead at the front of the lamp are centred within the lamp holder cutout. Rotate the lamp as required.
    Note : If you are also installing a filter, skip step 10 below and proceed to Install the Optical Filter (Page 4).

  10. Replace the lamp housing side panel and fasten the screws.
    Warning : If the lamp housing panel is not secured completely, the unit will not power on.

Installing the Optical Filter

The OmniCure S1500 Pro UV curing system is equipped with user-changeable optical filter cartridges. Seven different filter options are available to choose from: 400-500nm, 365nm, 320-390nm, 250-450nm, 320-500nm, no filter, and customer filter.

Choose the appropriate optical filter for your curing needs:

  1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the unit.
  2. Remove the screws from the lamp access side panel using the provided 3mm Allen Key and remove the panel from the unit cover.
  3. Carefully remove the filter cartridge from its packaging and insert into the slot with the filter’s model number tag pointing towards the lamp.
  4. Secure the filter to the system with the provided M4 screws using the 3mm Allen key.
  5. Replace the lamp housing side panel and tighten the fastening screws.
  6. Reconnect the AC power cord and turn on the Power switch at the back of the unit to turn the system ON.

Note : If the filter is properly installed, the system will automatically recognize the filter type. The filter type is displayed in the “Information” section of the GUI.
Warning: If the filter is not properly installed or fastened, the filter will not be recognized, and the lamp will not power on.
