- Position Function
- Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Engineering and Construction and GIS Analyst III, the GIS Analyst I assists with planning and designing GIS systems and required changes consistent with industry standards as they relate to water and wastewater utilities.
- Responsibilities include assisting with the design, development, and ensuring quality assurance for the District’s GIS software systems applications.
- Typical/Essential Duties
- Manages data and prepares reports, maintaining proficiency in the latest GIS technologies.
- Develops, implements, and manages the GIS data structure and geodatabase environment, coordinating with user departments for District adherence.
- Plans and designs GIS systems to meet industry standards, focusing on quality assurance.
- Creates GIS and/or CAD exhibits for both functional and presentation purposes, maintaining a GIS web viewer.
- Oversees the enterprise GIS technical environment, supporting as geodatabase manager, ArcServer manager, and system architect.
- Installs, configures, and maintains ArcGIS environment, including service creation, publication, and optimization.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A Bachelor’s in Science degree and 1-3 years of work-related experience in a municipal GIS program.
- Ability to obtain a drone pilot’s license within 12 months of hire.
- Preferred experience with ESRI GIS software.
- Must possess a valid Texas `Class C’ Driver’s License.
- Required to pass a pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical Exam, and Background Checks.

Position Function
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Engineering and Construction and GIS Analyst III, assists with planning and designing GIS systems and required changes that are consistent with industry standards as they relate to water and wastewater utilities. Duties include but are not limited to, assisting with the design, development, and ensuring quality assurance for the District’s GIS software systems applications.
Typical/Essential Duties
- Performs tasks associated with managing data and preparing reports. Maintains an elevated level of technical skills and knowledge to maintain proficiency in the latest technologies in GIS.
- Assists with the development, implementation and management of the GIS data structure and geodatabase environment for use and adherence by District personnel.
- Coordinates the development and operation with user departments and the overall GIS program of the District.
- Assists with planning and designing GIS systems to be consistent with industry standards. Assists with designing, developing, and ensuring quality assurance for the District’s GIS software systems applications.
- Prepares GIS and/or CAD exhibits for functional and presentation purposes. Maintains GIS web viewer.
- Assists with oversight of the enterprise GIS technical environment by helping as the geodatabase manager, ArcServer manager and system architect for all GIS software and hardware components.
- Assists with installation, configuring, and maintaining ArcGIS environment including creation, publication, and optimization of a variety of GIS resource services.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Required knowledge and experience are normally obtained through the completion of four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s in Science degree.
- One (1) to three (3) years of similar work-related experience supporting a municipal GIS program is required.
- The ability to obtain a drone pilot’s license within twelve (12) months of hire is required. Experience using
- ESRI and GIS software are preferred. Must possess a valid Texas ‘Class C’ Driver’s License. Must pass applicable pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical Exam, and Background Checks.
