  • This instruction manual describes precautions and how to safely use and operate the cart.
  • To ensure safe and proper use of the product, be sure to read this instruction manual before use.
  • After reading this instruction manual, store it in a place that can be easily accessed for later reference.
  • Users and/or patients are requested to report information about any serious incident related to this equipment that occurs within the EU to the manufacturer and the regulating authority of the member country of residence.
  • ‘Serious incident’ means any incident that directly or indirectly led, might have led or might lead to any of the following:

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • WARNING

    • Indicates that improper handling by ignoring this indication could cause death or serious injury (broken bones, pressure, or paralysis).
  • Do not use the cart for purposes other than those for which it is intended.
    Do not use for a purpose such as a handrail or walker. The cart could fall over, resulting in injury, or it could be damaged or deformed.

  • Do not put hands on the cart, lean against it or hang things on the cart.

    • Sudden movement of the cart could cause injury due to falling.
    • The cart could be deformed or damaged.
  • Do not put your foot on or get on the leg cover basket.

    • The cart could fall over, resulting in injury, or it could be damaged or deformed.
  • When operating the bed, separate the cart from the bed.

    • Bed operation may interfere with the cart and the cart could overturn, causing injury.
    • When the base frame or casters of the cart are caught under the bed, the cart could overturn, causing injury or the cart could be damaged or deformed.

When operating the cart, be careful not to bump against surrounding equipment.

  • The cart could fall over, possibly causing injury.
  • The cart could be damaged or deformed.
  • Equipment cables could get caught, causing a broken wire or the equipment could be damaged or deformed.
  •  Do not use the cart on a slope or a place with steps.
    • The cart could fall over, resulting in injury, or it could be damaged or deformed.
  • Depending on the surrounding situation, pay close attention when moving the cart over a bump or track, and when moving up or down a slope.
    • The cart could fall due to stumbling over a bump, getting caught in the tracks of an elevator, etc., or losing balance on a slope, causing injury.
    • Depending on the situation, to prevent the cart falling down, take appropriate measures such as having  two or more people work together to move the cart.
  • When transferring the cart, hold the basket holder grip.
    • If you hold the plastic basket to transfer the cart, the plastic basket could come off and topple over, possibly causing injury to the infant, or the plastic basket could be damaged or deformed.
  • Do not lift the cart while an infant is in the cart.
    • The cart could fall over, possibly causing injury.
  • When operating the inclination lever or Hi-low lever, use one hand to grasp  and support the basket holder grip to prevent a sudden change in the basket angle and height. (Height adjustment is available only with the KB-116EG.)
  • A sudden change in the cart angle or height could impact the infant, causing injury.
  •  Do not put hands on or lean against the holder grip if the cart is inclined. ****
  • The cart could suddenly become horizontal and could impact the infant, causing injury.

WARNING
Indicates that improper handling by ignoring this indication could cause death or serious injury (broken bones, pressure, or paralysis).

Place the plastic basket horizontally on the basket holder frame.

PARAMOUNT-BED-KB-115EG-Bassinet-Cart- \(6\)If the plastic basket is placed in an unstable orientation, such as being inclined, the basket could fall, causing injury.

  • When placing the plastic basket, pay attention to the cart orientation.
  • Place the plastic basket with the higher rim at the side of the holder grip where the head end seal is affixed. If the basket is placed in reverse orientation, the head of the infant is lowered when the basket is inclined, possibly causing injury.
  • Pay attention to the orientation of the infant when placing the infant in the cart.
  • The head of the infant must be at the side indicated by the head end seal. If the infant is laid in the cart in reverse orientation, the head of the infant is lowered when the cart is inclined, possibly causing injury
  • When the cart is not being moved, lock the casters.
  • Lock all four casters at all times, except when moving the cart. A sudden movement of the cart could cause injury due to falling.
  • Do not leave the cart if there is fluid on it.
  • If fluid (blood, drug solution, water, etc.) is adhering to or spills on the cart, wipe off with a dry cloth immediately and do not leave it. There is a risk of transmission of infectious disease and the cart could be damaged or deformed.
  • Be careful when handling gas springs.
  • Gas springs are used for inclination and height adjustment of the cart. If you attempt to disassemble or incinerate the product, the product could explode and gas could spray out, possibly causing injury. (Height adjustment is only available with the KB-116EG.)
  • Pay attention to the slip stopper rubber status (see page 11).
  • When the surface of the slip stopper rubber has deteriorated, the stopper effect is lost and the plastic basket could slip, possibly causing injury. If the slip stopper effect has deteriorated, request replacement.
  • For additional products directly attached to the cart such as Shade Cover, use compatible products specified by Paramount Bed.
  • The use of products other than the specified compatible products or products from other companies could create unintended gaps, cause interference between products, or reduce stability, resulting in injury or failure of the cart.
  • Do not use the product near thermal appliances (heaters, etc.) or in a location exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Doing so could cause the cart to be damaged or deformed, or it could even catch fire.

  • Inspect the cart regularly (see page 13).
  • The product exhibits wear and deterioration according to the frequency and conditions of use. Regularly inspect for loose parts, the operation of movable parts of the cart, and the presence of damage. The use of the cart in worn/deteriorated condition may result in unexpected injury.
  • The cart damaged in accidents must be inspected and repaired.
  • The cart damaged in earthquakes, fires, floods or other incidents must be inspected and repaired by Paramount Bed or your distributor.

PROHIBITED

  • Indicates prohibited actions.
  • Do not put an infant or object exceeding the following weights on the cart, or hang objects on the cart.
  • The cart could fall over, resulting in injury, or it could be damaged or deformed.
    •  Plastic basket: 7 kgf •
    • Leg pocket (one side): 3kgf
  • Do not place the infant lying facedown.
  • Lying facedown for a long time could lead to suffocation.
  • The cart should not be used by two or more infants.
  • This bed is designed for use by one infant. When used by two or more infants, the cart could be damaged, resulting in injury.
  • Do not use the cart on a slippery floor.
  • Do not use the cart on a dusty or watery floor or a floor made of slippery material. The cart could fall over, resulting in injury, or it could be damaged or deformed.
  • Do not repair or modify the product or its components by yourself.
  • Doing so could cause unexpected injury or damage.
  • Do not use a malfunctioning or damaged product.
  • In case of product failure or damage, stop using immediately and request repair.
  • Never use the mattress if the cover (External cover Internal cover) or padding is stained.
  • There is a risk of transmission of infectious disease by dirt or blood stains.
  • If dirt or blood stains are left as is, they can infiltrate into the padding, possibly causing infectious disease. If dirt or blood gets on the surface, immediately wipe it off.
  • When the cover (External cover: Internal cover) or padding is stained, perform maintenance according to DAILY MAINTENANCE on page 11.

CAUTION
Indicates that improper handling by ignoring this indication could cause light personal injury (bruises, scratches, or cuts) or property damage.

  • When using the cart, pay attention to the impact of protrusions of the cart such as the end of products or parts.
  • There is a risk of injury.
  • Do not lift the cart by holding the basket holder grip.
  • Doing so could damage the cart. To lift the cart, hold the base frame.
  • During transportation, if you need to lift the cart due to a bump, do not hold the leg cover basket.
  • Holding the leg cover basket to lift the cart could deform or damage the cart, causing injury. To lift the cart, hold the base frame.
  • Do not apply spray-type insecticide directly on the cart.
  • There is a risk that solvents in insecticide could damage, discolor, or dissolve casters or other resin parts of the cart. Further, damaged or dissolved parts could cause accidental injury.
  • In particular, be careful that the slip stopper rubber could become ineffective.
  • Do not directly put items having a cooling function such as an ice pack or refrigerant on the mattress.
  • If the mattress is exposed to a sudden temperature change, condensation could occur inside. The cover (External cover Internal cover) or padding could deteriorate due to condensation.
  • Do not strongly pull or grab the cover (External cover Internal cover) or padding.
  • Doing so could damage the cover or padding.
  • Be careful about the fastener top.
  • There is a risk of injury due to grazing of the hands or feet.
     Close the fastener top of the External cover as much as it can be closed and do not use while the fastener is opened.

Doing so could damage the cover, padding or plastic basket.

INSTALLATION

To avoid possible malfunctions, do not install the bed in the following locations.

  • Locations expose to direct sunlight
  • Locations near heat sources such as a stove or heater
  • Location which is heavily electrically charged such as near an MRI.
  • Location that has a high oxygen level
  • Locations exposed to excessive amounts of water vapor or oil vapor
  • Location that tend to be exposed to high temperatures, high humidity, low temperatures or dry conditions
  •  The optimum ambient conditions for the bed are as follows.
  • Temperature 10°C to 40°C / Humidity 30%RH to 75%RH / Atmospheric pressure 700hPa to 1060hPa.
    • Locations with large amount of dust, smoke, salt, sulfur, or corrosive substances
    • Locations with poor ventilation
    • Locations exposed to vibrations or shocks (including during transportation)
    • Locations where the floor is not strong enough
    • Locations where the floor is not level

UNPACKING AND CHECKINGPARTS

After unpacking the product, check that there are no missing or damaged parts. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact Paramount Bed or your distributor (see “Contact Information” on page 14).

OPERATION

  • Attach the name holder
    • Pay attention to the following points to attach the name holder so that suction power is not weakened.
    • The suction cup is placed on a flat surface of the plastic basket.
    • Wipe off stains from the surface of the suction cup and the surface of the plastic basket and press the suction cup so it attaches.
    • Attach the name holder in a location that is not within reach of the infant.
    • If the suction cup comes off and the name holder has fallen, put it back on the plastic basket again.
  • WARNING
    • When operating the inclination lever or Hi-low lever, use one hand to grab and support the basket holder grip to prevent a sudden change in the cart angle and height. A sudden change in the cart angle or height could impact the infant, causing injury. (Height adjustment is only available with the KB-116EG.)
    • When lines or cables are used, be careful when adjusting the angle or height. Lines or cables could come off, causing injury to the infant. (Height adjustment is only available with the KB-116EG.)

< Angle adjustment method> 

  • By pulling the inclination lever located at the head end  of the cart, the cart angle raises automatically. Use one hand to grasp the basket holder grip to support it, then pull up the inclination lever to adjust the angle*1 to the desired angle. When you release the lever, the angle is fixed at that position.
  •  To lower the cart inclination angle, grasp the basket holder grip to support it, then pull up the inclination lever and push downward.

< Height adjustment method: KB-116EG only>

  • Pulling up the Hi-low lever allows you to change the cart  height. Use one hand to grasp the basket holder grip to support it and then pull up the Hi-low lever to adjust the cart height *2 to the desired height. When you release the Hi-low lever, the angle is fixed at that position.
  •  To lower the cart height, grasp the basket holder grip to support it, then pull up the Hi-low lever and push downward.

< Caster operation >

  1. When the pedal is pushed down, both the rotation and swivel functions are in a locked state. The casters will not rotate or swivel when casters are locked.

  2. When the pedal is pushed up, the lock on both the rotation and swivel functions is released. The casters rotate or swivel when casters are unlocked.

WARNING
Lock all four casters at all times, except when moving the cart. Sudden movement of the cart could cause injury due to falling.
CAUTION
 Do not forcibly move the cart when casters are locked. Doing so could damage the cart or casters could scratch the floor.

SUITABLE PRODUCT

  • Use additional product after confirming that the combination of additional  products is correct. Using an incorrect combination of additional products may cause injury or damage the product. The model number of each additional product is written on the cardboard box and on the product ID label.
  • The model number on the product ID label is indicated as B***. Example: BP118SE indicates KB-P118SE.
  • The label description may differ from the above for some products. For any queries, contact us (see “Contact Information” on page 14).
  • Follow the instructions described in the instruction manual for the respective additional product. Incorrect attachment could cause the products to contact each other and fall, causing unexpected injury, or the products could be damaged or deformed.

DAILY MAINTENANCE

<Main unit, plastic basket, name holder>
Note: For parts names, see page 7.

  • To remove dirt from parts
  • Complete steps (1) to (3) listed below.
    1. Wipe off parts using a soft cloth soaked in a neutral cleaning solution lightly diluted with water that has been wrung out to remove excess fluid.
    2. Wring out as much moisture from the cloth as possible and then wipe up any remaining cleaning solution residue.
    3. Use a dry cloth to thoroughly wipe away any leftover moisture.
  • If oil or dust is adhering on the slip stopper rubber surface of the basket holder frame, you must wipe it off to clean the surface.

Disinfecting parts
Use one of the cleaning solutions listed below at the specified concentrations, making sure to follow the instructions in the manual or other materials available for the cleaning solution.

  • 76.9% – 81.4% ethanol for disinfection
  • Up to 0.2% benzalkonium chloride
  • Up to 0.2% benzethonium chloride
  • Up to 0.05% chlorhexidine gluconate
  • Up to 1.0% sodium hypochlorite

WARNING
Pay attention to the slip stopper rubber status. When the surface of the slip stopper rubber has deteriorated, the stopper effect is lost and the plastic basket could slip, possibly causing injury. If the slip stopper effect has deteriorated, request replacement

CAUTION

  • Do not use volatile cleaning fluids (such as paint thinner, benzene or gasoline) and cresol. Discoloration or deterioration could result.
  • Do not use cleaning solutions with the product other than those listed above. Discoloration or deterioration could result.
  • Thoroughly wipe off parts with a damp cloth after using a neutral cleaning solution. Not doing so could cause resin parts to crack.
  • When cleaning the cart, be careful about corners and the edge of the frame and screw parts. There is a risk of injury to the hand.

The product cannot be used with an ozone sterilizer, an autoclave, etc.

Additional products
Be sure to read the instruction manual for each additional product

< Mattress>
The following precautions should be noted if the mattress becomes stained or a different person will use the cart and it is necessary to wash the mattress.

CAUTION

  • When the mattress gets wet, dry thoroughly before use.
  • When washing the mattress, clean the external cover and padding separately. Not doing so could cause the external cover to wind around the padding, damaging it.
  • Washing conditions vary greatly depending on the manufacturer and model of the washing machine used. The mattress may be deformed or damaged due to structural and property differences in washing conditions, such as the water temperature, drum diameter, and the number of rotations. Do not use a deformed or damaged mattress. If you notice that the mattress is deformed or damaged after washing, do not use the same washing conditions in future.
  • Do not use an autoclave or ozone sterilizer. Doing so could deform or damage the mattressPARAMOUNT-BED-KB-115EG-Bassinet-Cart- \(23\)
  • To iron the external cover, remove the external cover from the padding

Cleaning the external cover

  1. Completely unzip the fastener of the external cover and remove the padding and internal cover.

We recommend that the external cover be cleaned by hand. However, if a washing machine is used, always put the cover in a commercially available cleaning net.

  • Do not use a fluorescent brightener.
  • When using centrifugal dehydration, lower the number of rotations and make sure that there is no deformation or damage of the external cover after dehydration.
  • Do not use the external cover if it is deformed or damaged.

Padding

  1. Do not remove the internal cover (white mesh cover) when washing the padding.
  2. Follow the instructions in the following images.

If a washing machine is used, always put the cover in a commercially available cleaning net (with small mesh).

  • Do not use a fluorescent brightener.
  • Avoid immersing the padding in water for a long period of time.
  • To use centrifugal dehydration, lower the number of rotations and make sure that there is no deformation or damage of the external cover after dehydration.
  • Do not use the padding if it is deformed or damaged.
  • Do not use a dryer or dry in direct sunlight.
  • Completely dry, otherwise mold may occur

REGULAR INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

REGULAR INSPECTION
For safety in use, inspect the product regularly, at least once a year. The product exhibits wear and deterioration according to the frequency and conditions of use. Inspect for loose parts, the operation of moving parts on the cart, and the presence of damage regularly. When an irregularity has been noticed or when a detailed inspection is desired, contact Paramount Bed or your distributor (see “Contact Information” on page 14).

Inspection items There must be no damage or deformation.

There must not be any loose on screws.
It must be possible to adjust angle and height smoothly.
The casters must not rotate or swivel when the casters are locked.
The casters must rotate or swivel when the casters are unlocked.
There must not be any peeling of labels, and the text must be legible.
There must be no detached parts.
There must be no deterioration in the effect of the slip stopper rubber
There must be no significant deterioration or alteration in the slip stopper rubber

MAINTENANCE
If height adjustment is difficult or there is abnormal sound
If it becomes difficult to adjust the basket height or there are abnormal sounds, contact Paramount Bed or your distributor

LONG-TERM STORAGE
The following precautions should be observed when when the cart will not be in use for an extended period of time.

Main unit, plastic basket, name holder> *Note: For parts names, see page 7.

  1. When storing the cart, remove the plastic basket (including the name holder) from the main unit and store them.
  2. Do not place any objects on the cart.
  3. Store the cart in a low-dust environment that is not subject to extreme temperatures or humidity. Store the cart at a temperature between -10°C to 50°C and humidity between 30%RH and 90%RH and air pressure between 700hPa and 1060hPa.
  4. Store the cart on a flat location with all four casters locked.
  5. Store the cart with the name card removed from the name holder.
  6. Store the card with the name holder removed from the plastic basket.
  7. Keep the instruction manual in a safe place so that it does not become lost.

< Mattress>

  1. Do not pile up or otherwise place materials on the mattress.
  2.  Avoid storing the cart in a location exposed to high temperatures or humidity, or dusty locations.
    Note: The padding may be discolored but there is no problem in product performance.

When the Bassinet Cart has reached the end of its usable life, discard it according to local standards

AFTER-SALES SERVICE

  1. When requesting repair

    • For repair, contact Paramount Bed or your distributor (see “Contact Information” as shown below).
    • Details necessary when requesting repair
    • Product name, model number, product ID label number (affixed to the back of the basket holder section pipe: see PART NAMES)
    • Date of purchase
    • Details of damage or error (as much detail as possible)
    • Organization name, your name, address, and phone number
    • During the warranty period
    • Repairs are provided free of charge based on the descriptions on the warranty card. In some cases, you may be charged for repairs even during the warranty period.
    • After the warranty has expired
      Products that can be repaired will be accepted for repair upon request, at your expense.
  2. Minimum part retention period
    The minimum retention period of service functional parts (required to maintain the original function of the product) is six years after discontinuation of manufacturing.
