PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
- Park the vehicle on a flat surface and level the unit. This manual will refer to the “drive side” and “idler side” throughout for various instructions. The “drive side” is the right hand side of the awning when facing the awning from the exterior of the unit.
- If this is an upgrade for a manual patio awning, follow the awning manufacturer’s instructions and remove the awning from the coach including the roll bar and canopy.
AWNING INSTALLATION
Insert the drive head assembly shaft into the end cap. Align the holes and
secure with waxed screw. Repeat process for idler head assembly at opposite
end.
1. Check the location where the awning is to be mounted. Ensure that the
awning will not interfere with other equipment on the vehicle, such as a slide
out room, light fixtures, exhaust vents etc. WARNING
For the Intel arm Installation, don’t connect the wind sensor connector
during installation, avoid any injury caused by accidental vibration. Please
connect wind sensor after the installation is complete.
CAUTION
It is recommended that at least three people install the awning due to its
size and weight.
NOTE: The roller assembly must be oriented with the fabric going over the
roller toward the mounting surface.
2. Remove the tape from the fabric. Unroll a small portion of fabric(Unroll
the canopy one wrap).
3. With one person holding each arm, the third person should thread the
polyrod (the plastic rod on the edge of the fabric) into the awning rail,
starting at one end. Carefully move across the vehicle, gently pulling the
fabric into the rail, until the awning is in the pre-determined location.
NOTE: While the awning fabric is fairly robust, care must be taken not to
snag it on the awning rail.4. Using a non-
permanent method of marking, mark a perpendicular line from the awning rail
down to the floor line. This is the centerline of the support arm assembly.
NOTE: Best practice for setting the awning height is to push the top of
the support arm assemblies up to be flush with the bottom of the awning rail.
The awning height can be adjusted lower if desired, but make sure the distance
from the awning rail to the top of the support arm assemblies is consistent at
both ends of the awning.
5. Remove the plastic zip tie at the top of the motorized arm. Partially open
the arm being careful tonot let the arm extend more than 6”,then install the
top screw first.
6. Cut the zip ties and connect the wires from the drive head assembly to a
power source and run the awning halfway out.
7. Install the remaining three 1/4 x 1 38( x35) screws at any of the three
locations shown in the . m6 center of the support arm.
WARNING
During the installation process, personnel need to assist each other to
prevent the arm from opening suddenly and causing injury.
8. Repeat this process for the other side of the awning assembly.
SECURING THE FABRIC
- Extend and retract the awning several times to make sure the fabric is square on the roll tube.
- Secure the fabric in the awning rail no more than 1″ inside the edge of the fabric on both ends using a #8 x3/4″ hex head screw.

NOTE: To retract the canopy, it is best to pitch arms on the left and
right sides at the same level.
WARNING
For awnings under 12′: The arms must be set at an equal pitch before
retracting the awning. Damage to the arms and canopy can occur if the awning
is retracted with the arms uneven.
MAINTENANCE – AWNINGS
Fabric Care
If the awning is retracted while wet, extend the awning and let it dry as soon
as conditions allow before again retracting. This will help prevent the
formation of mildew and add to the life of the awning.
NOTE: Mildew does not form on the fabric itself, but on the accumulated
dust, dirt and grime.
Periodically clean vinyl or woven acrylic fabric using a mixture of 1/4 cup of
dish soap and five gallons of warm water.
- Liberally apply the mixture on the top of the fabric and retract the awning for five minutes.
- Apply the mixture to the bottom of the fabric as well.
- Extend the awning and hose off with fresh water.
- Repeat if necessary.
- Allow to dry before retracting.
CAUTION
DURING INCIDENTS OF HIGH WIND, HEAVY RAIN OR EXTENDED TIME AWAY FROM THE UNIT,
IT IS ADVISABLE TO RETRACT THE AWNING COMPLETELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE
AWNING AND THE UNIT.
TROUBLESHOOTING
What is Happening? | What we are going to do? |
---|---|
Awning cannot be opened or closed? | Make sure the power is connected. |
Check the power switch at “ON” potion.
Check the control box fuse is good.
Motor overheats, thermal breaker has tripped, auto resets once cools.
Awning cannot stay at normal flat position.| Check whether the gas spring is
damaged.
Check adjustment pitch whether or not at the same plane level.
Awning doesn’t colose all the way.| The awning is considered completely closed
as long as the outer arm is
overlapping the mount arm. This overlap can vary.
The awning is considered completely closed as long as the outer arm is
overlapping the mount arm. This overlap can vary.
LED Lights doesn’t work?| Make sure the Led switch at “ON” position.
Make sure to have 12V DC to the red wire on the light.
Awning seems to wobble when extending or retracting?| Make sure the bolts that
hold the head to the support arm assemblies are tight.
Make sure there is no offset in the same plane of the arm assemblies.
Make sure the end caps are seated properly on the roll tube.
Make sure the mount arms are properly secured to the wall.
Make sure no part of the support arm assemblies is bent.
Awning works in the opposite direction of what switch shows?| Wires going to
awning have been reversed or switched. Reverse the wires.
Awning rolls up backward?| This is not a defect. To correct the fabric
orientation, simply operate the awning in the retract direction and the awning
will then extend to its correct orientation and normal operation can resume.
Intel Awning
What is Happening?| What we are going to do?
Why can’t the awning sometimes extend or retract automatically?| If the power
voltage and the connections all are fine, it maybe the temperature or long time
no use it, so the lubrication inside the gas spring is retarded, just needs to
open or close the support arm once or twice by auxiliary, then the components
can return to normal operation.
In addition, every one celsius degree changes in the natural temperature, the
pressure of the gas spring changes 3 thousandths, so too low temperature or
the lubrication of the pneumatic components may affect the normal movement,
this is a normal phenomenon.
Why can’t the awning fully extend or completely retract when I use the remote
one press key?| The main reason is that temperature is different in different
area and also the resistances of different length of roller and canopy are not
the same, so we have provided USB tools to set the retraction and extension
time, it is convenient for customers to set up according to their own
conditions.
How long does the awning move when the users press one time the remote control
button?| Pressing one time the key button, the moving time for opening or
closing will execute the set time in the smart control box. If need to stop,
just press the stop button.

THE SMART BOX PROGRAM SETTING
The default extension time of the awning is 28 seconds.
The default retraction time of the awning is 44 seconds.
Due to the different size of the awning fabric or the affect from different
temperature to the resistance of the gas spring, the extension time and the
retraction time of the awning are different, the users can confirm the
extension time and the retraction time by manual switch, after the
confirmation, the users can set up the extension time and retraction time
through the serial port, please check the following way:
Using the serial port hardware tool to connect with the computer, please check
the following picture, and use the USB tool wires to connect the program pins
of the smart control box:The serial port tool
software you can download from:
https://www.shootpower.com/download/UartAssist.zip
Open the soft of the serial port tool(UartAssist), double click to open: Set
up the language, click the soft ware top left, and choose the langaue.
Note: when set up the data, please remember to pluck away the Motion
Sensor, then inset the serial port too, in the mode of ASCII, open the switch
of the serial port, under the condition that the computer has power supplied,
three sets of data will be shown as followings: RE=44—–(Second)this is the retraction time (second)
EX=28—–(Second)this is the extension time (second)
RA=3——(Motion or wind Level) this is the motion level.
Detailed setting, sending the relevant data, the corresponding data will be
shown,
If you want get reading, only needs to input the numerical reading,
EX, RE or RA the corresponding data will be shown:
For example input: EX
EX=28 the data EX=28 will be shown
For example input RX
RE=44 the data RX=44 will be shown.
In the other side, the setting of motion level is the same:
Please take attention: the RA (the motion level) is expanded from small to big
(one piece of indicator light to three pieces of indicator lights), for
example:
Input RA=1, the actual level of the three pieces of indicator light is 1, 3, 5
Input RA=2, the actual level of the three pieces of indicator light is 2, 4, 6
Input RA=3, the actual level of the three pieces of indicator light is 3, 5, 7
………….and so on
The larger the setting motion level is, the lower the shaking sensor is. In
order to protect to the awning, the original setting motion level is 2. We
suggest not to set up too large data of the motion level, in case that the
shaking sensor is too low and the awning is damaged easily.
The following scenes will appear on the remote retraction and the shaking
retraction.
Only press one time to the extension switch or the retraction switch, the
extension time is 28 seconds, the retraction time is 44 seconds.
On the action of extension or retraction, the pause or stop can be made at any
time. During the action of extension or retraction to pause or stop, and do
not execute the completion time of extension and retraction, maybe the awning
will not be completely extended or retracted, under the circumstance, just
press one more time the switch to finish the course. On the trail, we offer a
safe limit switch, after the awning is retracted completely, the switch will
cut off the power, but, in principle, if the complete retraction is executed
by pressing twice switches or over, we suggest after the awning is on the
resuming status, please remember to press the stop switch on the remote
controller, in case because of the safe limit switch or some other causes
which lead to the generator staying in the blocking state in a long time and
then the generator to be damaged. user can reset the retraction time as the
above detailed instruction.
If the awning rolls up backward, please simply operate the awning in the
retract direction and the awing will then extend to its correct orientation
and normal operation can resume. On the retraction status or unused condition,
please close the main power switch on the smart control box, and tie the
awning by the ribbon if there is any, which can make the driving safer.
Shaking retraction is, under nobody controlling, that the awing is shaken
strongly or blown by large wind and the awning is retracted by itself to
protect itself. The retraction time under the condition is the same as the set
time, but maybe some unexpected resistance will lead to the awning not to be
resumed completely. The
WARRANTY REGISTRATION ON FILE AT IEAVES FOR WARRANTY CLAIMS.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is strongly recommended that adjustments and repairs
not described in this book be performed by trained technicians at your
