Assembly
- Step 1: Jack the rear of the vehicle up and support the vehicle using proper Jack Stands.
- Step 2: With the vehicle supported on Jack Stands, remove the rear wheels and tires.
- Step 3: Removed the manufacturing tab from the support brackets and grind any remaining sharp edges smooth.
- Step 4: Locate the Right-Hand Frame Support Bracket and place it on the frame. The bracket will fit tight against the frame. Using the Small hole on the outer face of the bracket, align it with the matching hole in the frame. Once you are happy with the fitment and location of the bracket, trace around the bracket with a marker.
- Step 5: With the bracket traced out on the frame, you can remove the paint along the line to prep for welding. Since the frame is fairly thin to start with, we recommend using a wire brush to remove any paint and not make the frame thinner from grinding. Using some heat from a propane torch can help soften the paint for easier removal. (Be aware of your surroundings when using an open flame)
- Step 6 : With the frame cleaned up, reposition the Frame Support Bracket onto the frame and clamp in place, using the hole for alignment)
- Step 7: Tack weld the Frame Support Bracket onto the frame, placing tack welds every three inches all the way around the bracket.
- Step 8: Fully weld the Frame Support Bracket onto the frame, welding between the tack welds and moving around. You want to spread the heat out over the whole bracket. Take your time, you do not want to input too much heat into the frame.
- Step 9: With the bracket fully welded and cooled, prep and paint any bare metal with a heavy duty paint.
- Step 10: With the right-hand Frame Support Bracket completed, repeat steps 4 – 9 on the left hand side. Please note: the left-hand side of the vehicle has the fuel tank located directly next to where you will be welding. However not required, we recommend that you remove the fuel tank before welding this side. It doesn’t take much time to remove. You will need to support the fuel tank with a Floor Jack, remove the two 15mm bolts holding the fuel tank straps. Slowly lower the fuel tank down a couple inches so you can loosen the hose clamp on the filler tube and remove the wiring on the fuel pump.
