589 Fabrication 589102.1 ARB Air Compressor Mount
Tools Required
- 10mm socket, extension and ratchet
- Flat head screw driver
- Phillips head screw driver
- T15 Torx bit
Installation
Step 1: Remove the factory air box. Start with loosening the hose clamp
on the air intake tube. Next unplug the MAF sensor plug (Be sure to slide the
lock clip out, then push connector down with thumb while pulling outward).
Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws holding the air box lid
down. Once the lid is out of the way, you can remove the two 10mm nuts located
towards the front on the wheel well. You can now remove the air box itself.
Step 2: With the air box out of the way, you now remove the two 10 mm nuts holding the reservoir tank to the vehicle. The reservoir will be able to lift up off the studs and you can roll it out of the way. Be cautious as the tank can be hot if the vehicle was running recently. It can also leak out of the overflow.
Step 3: Lower the front passenger side inner fender liner. Using a T15
torx bit, remove the screws holding the center portion of the wheel liner to
the inner fender. If you are working on a ZR2, you may need to remove the
fender flare, to allow the fender liner to drop down enough. Below the
reservoir tank in the engine bay, you will see a small metal snap in threaded
clip, that the wheel liner screws into. Remove this clip by pushing downward,
popping it out.
Step 4: Mount the air compressor to the bracket using the supplied hardware with the compressor. The filter side of the compressor will be on the bottom side of the logo.
Step 5: Lower the compressor and mount into the engine bay, onto the inner fender. Align the holes and install the two rear most bolts, that are included with the mount. Loosely install the third bolt, and fully tighten the rear most bolts. Remove the loosely installed bolt, pull the fender liner back into position, and reinstall the third bolt through the liner and tighten. Reinstall the T15 screws and fender flare.
Step 6: Back in the engine bay, roll the reservoir back into place and
tighten the two 10mm nuts. Reinstall the air box in reverse order of removal.
Be sure to clip the MAF sensor into the air box to avoid a check engine light.
Step 7: Wire the compressor. How to wire the compressor will vary depending on how you have it set up. The Compressor comes with a very good wiring harness and switch. Follow the compressor manufacturer’s instructions.
