ADDITIONAL MATERIALS NEEDED
Power Supply 3 – 9 V DC
Two banana plug wires
APPARATUS ASSEMBLY
OPERATION
- Connect a power supply to the banana plugs on the front of the unit.
- Adjust the power supply to 3 Volts and slowly increase the voltage. If needed spin the armature lightly to start spinning.
- Do not exceed 9 V DC.
- Do not put fingers in the path of the spinning armature.
- Place in different armatures to see how the number of coils affect the performance.
CHANGING THE ARMATURE
To switch to a different armature follow the steps below.
- Turn off the power supply and disconnect the wires.
- Unscrew the locking screw, hex screw and support screws. See Figure 2.
- Remove the retaining plate off the armature.
- Pull back on the armature and place it aside.
- Place in the new armature by placing the end between the two contact brushes. Keep the rubber spacer next to the front retaining plate. See Figure
- Replace the retaining plate over the end of the axis.
- Connect the support screws, hex screw and locking screw.
