ECOCHANNELS Recommended Installation Type
Front apron sinks usually require a custom made base cabinet. The openning for the sink above the cabinet doors must accommodate the height of the front apron.See STEP2 sink dimension ‘A’
STEP2.Cut Cabinet Front
- Measure height of apron front. Add 1/16″ to the dimension when you mark: base cabinet front cutout.
- Measure sink apron and cabinet opening to make sure sink apron will fit into cabinet opening. If necessary, sand opening or add wood filler strips.

height (Undermount Installation)
STEP 3.Prepare support frame
- Prepare the cabinet and create a support frame inside the cabinet that the sink will sit on.
- Use 2×4 solid wood studs to create the support frame. Your cabinet and support frame should be strong enough to hold up to 200 lbs of weight once installed. The support frame should be positioned so that the top of the sink rim 1s level and flush with the top surface of the cabinet perimeter. Make sure the support frame leaves room for the drains, faucet water lines, garbage disposal (if any).
STEP 4.Cut Countertop
- Trace template on countertop with a pencil.
- Cut the opening in the countertop by carcfully following the traced line.
STEP 5.Position Template
- Check the cut-out template against the actual sink to ensure a proper sized cut-out. Due to the various cutout sizes possible (based on your preference),We only provide the template for the opening of the inner size of the sink bowel, the installation
position of the apron should be adjusted according to the space reserved for cabinet faucets, etc. Some people like to install some inside, some like to install some outside.

STEP 7.Drill Hole in Countertop
- Drill 3/8″diameter x 1/2″ deep hole in the countertop.
STEP 8.Install Anchors
- Insert anchors into drilled holes and lightly tap with a hammer until flush.
STEP 9. Secure Sink to Countertop
- Use a bead of silicone (or preferred adhesive) around the rim of the sink.
- Check the alignment of the sink to the cutout in the countertop.
- Place sink over cutout hole and press firmly.
STEP 10. Attach Mounting Hardware
- Attach mounting hardware to secure bowl. Remove excess sealant from inside lip.
- Allow sealant to set for 30-60 minutes.
NOTE: Use acetone or rubbing alcohol to remove any excess sealant.
STEP 11.Installation of a countertop with a sink
- Gently position the countertop with sink on the frame. Verify that the sink sits level and sturdy on the frame, and the top surface of the sink is level and flush with the top surface of the cabinet perimeter.
Adjust or shim between the sink and support 1f necessary.
If you are sure you
can install the sink without the sink mounting hooks, ignore STEP 6 through 11
and place the sink directly on the bottom support frame in following step 12,
STEP 12. Direct placement sink
- Gently position the sink on the frame. Verify that the sink sits level and sturdy on the frame, and the top surface of the sink 1s level and flush with the top surface of the cabinet perimeter. Adjust or shim between the sink and support if necessary.
- Clean the rim of the sink and the under surface of the countertop where 1t will contact the rim. Apply a generous bead of sealant around the sink rim.
- Gently position the countertop on the sink. Ensure that the sealant provides a complete seal between the countertop and the sink. Wipe off any extra sealant using a wet cloth, and apply extra sealant if there are any gaps.
STEP 13.Install Plumbing Fixtures
- Connect drain to sink. Connect trap to drain. Connect water supply connections to faucet according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Run water into sink and check for leaks.
Trouble Shooting
- If you’ve followed the instructions carefully and your sink still does not work properly, take these cor-rective steps.
PROBLEM | ACTION |
---|---|
Scratches | Use a nylon pad with an 1ron—free abrasive polishing compound. |
Follow the direction of the original brush lines and the scratch will
disappear as it’ s blended into the original finish. Be careful to not polish
too aggressively since you 11 polish out the original brush lines and end up
with a shiny spot.
Water deposits| Regular routine cleaning can usually prevent lime scale
deposits from hard water Do not allow excessive build up
before treating. Soaking in a 25% vinegar solution or a 5% nitric acid
solution can remove these hard water spots.
Periodically rub with a nylon—bristled brush or a fine- meshsynthetic scouring
pad. Rinse and towel dry after
treatment.
Rust marks| If rust marks develop due to presence of or contact with ferrous
(iron—contain—ing) materials, swab with a sponge
wetted with a diluted (10-15%) solution of nitric acid (HNO3) and follow with
routine cleaning.
Avoid prolonged contact of ferrous materials (like cast iron pans) with
stainless steel. Nitric acid in dilute concentrations the only acid that is
safe to use on stainless steel.
