Add cat litter
Add cat litter to the scale range, not 50% below or 100% above the scale.
- We recommend using clumping bentonite cat litter.
- Avoid using pellet cat litter (grain diameter exceeding 3mm, length exceeding 10mm), as it may result in unnecessary wastage of cat litter.
Level cat litter

instantly. Alternatively, you can wait about one minute for the machine to
automatically perform the leveling process.
APP Connection
Download the akasa APP and follow the steps in the APP to connect.
- Please turn on Bluetooth and location services when connecting with your M1. (Please turn on the precise location.)
- The M1 will automatically clean 5 minutes after your cat leaves. Additionally, it will remind you every month to clean the litter chamber and waste bin. You can modify this in neakasa APP system setting.
Cat Litter Level Calibration
(The innovative design of the M1 litter box allows us to measure the remaining
cat litter in the litter compartment.)
- If you change the type of cat litter, you’ll need to recalibrate the litter level.
- Please ensure there are no objects placed on the litter box to avoid inaccurate weight measurement.
Methods to guide cats
- Add some used cat litter to the litter box to help familiarize the cat with it (when replacing the litter box, it’s recommended to continue using the old litter at first).Or place the M1Automatic Litter Box in the same location as the original litter box.
- Place cat treats at the entrance of the litter box to help the cat discover the new litter box.
- For timid cats, it’s advisable to manually clean for the first few days. Once the cat is familiar and comfortable, you can switch to automatic cleaning mode.

Maintenance
Adding Cat Litter
- When the cat litter level is below 60%, it’s time to add some cat litter. Be cautious not to exceed the 100% marking line when adding litter. (The machine can automatically detect when you add cat litter and when the cat enters the litter box).
- Approximately 1 minute after adding cat litter, the system will automatically level the litter and update the litter level.
- If you change the type of the cat litter, it may cause inaccuracies in the litter level detection. In such cases, recalibration is necessary. [Refer to the method for calibrating the litter level on page 09.]
Waste Bin Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean waste bin
Set new trash bag
If the red light of the button flashes, it is because the undulating part of
the trash bag blocks the internal infrared sensor. Just arrange the trash bag
and put it in.
- Empty the waste bin every 7 to 10 days for a cat, and no longer than 14 days. When the temperature is high in summer, empty it 7 days to prevent the breeding of flies.
- The waste bin can accumulate strong odors due to the long-term storage of foul-smelling materials. You can pull it out and rinse it with water, then let it dry before placing a new trash bag. We recommend cleaning it once every 1-2 months.
Litter Chamber Cleaning
-
Before cleaning the litter chamber, please unplug the power. (Once powered off, there is no need to reconnect to
WIFI when powering on again.) -
After emptying all the cat litter, unlock covers on both sides of the litter chamber and pull them outward to remove the litter chamber.
-
You can rinse the litter chamber with water or use a brush to clean it. After rinsing, make sure to keep the opening facing upwards and place it in a well-ventilated area to dry before putting it back for use.
* Avoid drying it with the opening facing downwards, as it may cause water to accumulate inside the gaps.![neakasa-M1-Open-Top-Self-cleaning-Cat-Litter-Box-fig-17](https://manuals.plus/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/neakasa-M1-Open-Top-Self-cleaning-Cat-Litter-Box-fig-17.png)
