Introduction
Thank you for choosing to purchase this quality product. To minimise the risk
of injury, we ask you to always take some basic safety precautions when using
this product. Please read this operating manual carefully and make sure that
you understand it.
Keep these operation instructions in a safe place.
Description of the product
The fence tensioner allows a simple tensioning of a fence wire. By tensioning the wire to the desired length while leaving the end of the wire free, the user can create the tension required when installing a new fence or linking two fence wires. The clamping jaws of the two ends of the wire strainer hold the wire in position while the ratchet lever tensions the wire.
Attention! Wire under tension is dangerous. When using the device,
protect your eyes and wear leather gloves. Should the wire break when being
tensioned, it can rebound and cause serious injuries.
Use
Tensioning the fence makes it necessary to clamp the wire fence in the clamping jaws. The clamping jaws guide the wire in a certain direction when clamping it, but clamp it with the pressure being raised when the wire is stretched in the opposite direction. Familiarise with the tensioning method before using the wire tensioner.

- Open the jaws with the help of the lever of the clamping jaws and thread the wire as shown (Fig. 2).

2. Close the clamping jaw to clamp the fence wire (Fig. 2). Make sure that the wire is clamped in a safe way by trying to pull it out of the fence wire body. Should the wire not be clamped safely and slip through the clamping jaw, produce more clamping force by applying the lever of the clamping jaws.
Tensioning the fence wire when attaching to a fence post
- Tighten the fence wire by hand until it sags no longer.
- Clamp the wire in the locking hook of the clamping jaws, then attach the fixed hook to the post (Fig. 3).
Note! If the fixed hook cannot be attached directly to the fence post by reason of the size or shape of the latter, lay a chain around the post and attach the fixed hook to that chain.

3. Tighten the wire excess by hand until it is tightened so that the tensioner sticks to the post itself.
4. Clamp the fence wire in the mobile hook of the clamping jaw (Fig. 4).

5. Tension the wire with the help of the ratchet lever. The wire excess is kept untensioned and can be simply fixed to the post. If the mobile hook has reached the end of its travel and the wire requires additional tensioning, read and obey the section “Repositioning the mobile hook.”
Linking existing fence wires
- Clamp one of the wire in the fixed hook of the clamping jaw. Clamp the other wire in the mobile hook of the clamping jaw (Fig. 5).

2. Compensate excess slackness of the wire, then clamp the wire in the mobile hook of the clamping jaw (Fig. 6).

3. Tension the wire with the help of the ratchet lever. The wire excess is kept untensioned and can be simply connected. If the mobile hook has reached the end of its travel and the wire requires additional tensioning, read and obey the section “Repositioning the mobile hook.”
Repositioning the mobile hook
- Make sure that the wire is clamped safely in the locking hook.
- Unclamp the wire from the mobile hook of the clamping jaw. Then slide the mobile hook back towards the locking hook (Fig. 7).

3. Re-clamp the wire in the mobile hook of the clamping jaw, then continue tensioning. Repeat if necessary.
