Ingress Protection Rating Guide
About These Ratings: An Ingress Protection (IP) Rating is an industry- standard method of classifying the effectiveness of electrical enclosures in blocking foreign bodies such as dust, moisture, liquids, and accidental contact.
Testing Limitations: It is essential to understand that testing for ingress protection is performed under laboratory conditions and limited time frames. Testing will never fully simulate every real-world situation. All IP ratings are standard benchmarks established under and relevant to the tested metrics.

FAQ
What does an IP rating tell me about the product?
An IP rating indicates how well the product is protected against solids like dust and liquids like water based on standardized tests.
How do I know which IP rating is suitable for my needs?
Determine the environmental conditions your product will be exposed to and choose an IP rating that provides adequate protection against those conditions. For example, if your product will be used outdoors where it may encounter rain or dust, a higher IP rating for both solids and liquids protection would be recommended.
Can I modify the product to improve its IP rating?
No, altering the product may void its warranty and compromise its original design integrity. It is recommended to select a product with the appropriate IP rating for your specific use case.
