AED Trainer XFT-120C
Instruction Manual
Product Introduction
The XFT-120C AED trainer with Replaceable Language/Scenario Card is designed
to effectively train emergency responders in the use of an Automated External
Defibrillator (AED). This training unit provides a variety of pre programmed
scenarios to help responders become familiar with an AED and allow them to
demonstrate the basic skills necessary to use an AED in an emergency.
XFT-120C AED trainer provides simulated shock delivery. It has no high
voltage capabilities, and cannot deliver a shock, there by ensuring safety
during training.
NOTE: Before using a real clinical AED, the responder should have completed an
appropriate responder training program, which may include the use of the AED
trainer. Having completed such a course, the responder should demons trate
proficiency in performing basic life support skills; and knowledge of
applicable medical protocols and procedures.
Set Language
Insert the plug-in card to install the language
A replaceable language/scenario card is included, users can purchase the basic unit, and then buy the plug-in card separately. For the card, they can choose different languages, such as English and Spanish, Italian and Dutch, etc. With the card, it will be convenient to update the program once the Guide lines have been changed.

Introduction of each button

On/Off button
Turn the unit on and initiate voice prompts. Press once to turn the unit on.
Press again to turn it off. -
Pads Connector Socket
Insert the training pads connector into the pads connector sockets LED flashes to indicate the socket location. The LED is covered the defibrillator pad con nector is properly inserted into the socket. -
Scenario Selection/Down
There are 10 different scenarios
Press this button, the display prompts scenario selection from 9 to 0. -
Scenario Selection/Up
Press this button, and the display prompts scenario selection from Oto 9. -
Volume Control
Control the voice prompt volume during use. The last setting will be stored and maintained even if the unit has been turned off. (Note: These “option” buttons have different functions on the clinical Automatic External Defibri llators) -
Shock Button
Control simulated shock delivery, the button flashes when the unit is ready to deliver a simulated shock. -
DC INPUT (optional function)
Note: Don’t use batteries while an adapter is connected -
AUDIO OUT
External speaker can be connected to the AED trainer. -
Pause/Play
This button with a pause function can temporarily stop all operations of the unit. Press once to pause. Press again to go on playing. Play button” )) “can resume all the stored and maintained status of the unit. -
Bilingual Button
If these two buttons are pressed at the same time, the user can change voice prompts in different languages. “ ” or” ” is displayed on the main body, that means two different languages, every time when the AED trainer is turned on, language ” ” is default. (Note: This Function is optional; it only exists on the bilingual trainer body.)
Automatic Shut Off

Under the 10 scenarios, if no operation after 5 circles, it will be turned off automatically.

If the remote control is applied, when it simulates a shockable rhythm or a non-shockable rhythm, the AED trainer will be turned off if no operation after 5 circles.

Low battery:
During the operation, if low power is detected, it will be turned off automati cally in 10 seconds. -
If it is paused and hasn’t any operation, it will be turned off in 8 minutes.
Remote Control
Control button functions are described below. (please refer to the diagram)

default. (Note: This function is optional; it only exists on the bilingual trainer body) -
Scenarios Selection:
10 scenarios from 0-9 (See pg.11 for details) -
Play Button:
Resumes the activity from the point at which it was paused. -
Pause Button:
Freezes all activity in the trainer. Pause is indicated by” ” on the LED display window. -
Simulate loose electrode connection:
During the training, if this button is pressed,” ” will be displayed on the main body. It simulates loose electrode connections. The user can choose related scenarios to practice. -
Simulate good electrode connection:
During the training, if this button is pressed,” “will be displayed on the main body. It simulates good electrode connections. The user can choose related scenarios to practice. -
Simulate a shockable rhythm:
During the training, if this button is pressed,” ” will be displayed on the main body. It simulates a shockable rhythm. The user can choose related scenarios to practice. -
Simulate a non-shockable rhythm:
During the training, if this button is pressed, ” ” will be displayed on the main body. It simulates a non-shockable rhythm. The user can choose related scenarios to practice. -
Simulate motion artifact
During the training, if this button is pressed,” “wilt be displayed on the main body. -
Low Battery:
During the training, if this button is pressed,” ” will be displayed on the main body. A voice prompts “low battery”, and then the current scenario is continued. -
Error Button:
During the training, if this button is pressed, it gives a” tick” sound, and” ” is displayed on the main body, the voice prompts are stopped, the The” tick” sound is given again after 10 seconds; it will be continued until the AED trainer is turned off automatically in 8 minutes. -
” + “Button:
Press this button, and the display prompts scenario selection from 0-9.
“-” Button: Press this button, and the display prompts scenario selection from 9-0.
Other Components
Battery Insertion
- Open the battery compartment following the arrowhead direction.
- Put in 3AA batteries, and note the polarity. (Note: The real clinical AED may use different batteries.)
- Reposition the battery compartment’ cover.
- Please use good quality batteries, so that they can avoid malfunctions caused by leakage occurred.
- After some time, when the unit can’t operate normally or appears irregular voice volume, it prompts the user to replace the batteries.
Training Pads
Note : The training pads are for training use only and will not function with an actual clinical AED.
Operating Instruction
First, turn on the trainer and select the training scenario
Turn on the unit, then press the scenario selection button to select 0-9 prep
programmed training scenario and the operating scenario is displaying on the
LED display window.
Note: The last setting will be stored and maintained even if the unit has been
turned off.
Second,connectpads
Take training pads, insert the connector into the orange LED flashing socket,
and attach the pads on the appointed place of body.
Wire Connection
- Take out the training pads.
- Connect the wire with training pads.
- Place pads on the chest in the position shown on the pad diagrams. Remem ber, the Yellow connector is for the Adult pads, and the Pink connector is for Paediatric pads.
- When prompted, plug the connector to the AED trainer using the socket with a flashing orange LED.
Note:
- Don’t bend or stretch wires excessively.
- Please hold the pad connector when pulling it out of the trainer.
Third, follow the voice prompts
According to the selected scenario, operate the trainer by following the voice
prompts.
Storage Guidance
Pads Maintenance
- Keep the Gel side of pads clean and free of dust.
- After use, please stick pads with its original cover.
- If the stickiness of pads declines, users can try washing the pads with water for a few seconds, and then leaving to dry thoroughly.
- Don’t wipe the Gel side of pads with paper and cloth.
- Don’t scrape the Gel side of pads with nail and brush.
- The pads should last for several training sessions.
- Don’t wash pads frequently, and don’t use detergent and hot water.
- Don’t store pads in places subjected to direct sunlight, high temperature or humidity.
Main Body Maintenance
- Wipe clean the main body routinely.
- After shutting off power, make sure to pull out the pads’ connector from the main body.
- If the main body is dirty, use a soft cloth with water or neutral detergent but must wring dry to wipe it softly. If necessary, clean or sterilize it with a cloth soaked in medical alcohol. (75% concentration max)
- Do not use abrasive cleaning substances.
- Use only damp non-abrasive cloths for cleaning. Do not soak the AED trai ning unit with any fluid.
Storage Precautions
- Do not store near spirits or gasoline.
- Do not store in locations subjected to direct sunlight, high temperatures, moisture, dust, or corrosive gas.
- Store the main body, electrode pads, wire leads, and instruction manual in the bag provided.
*Failure to comply with the above instructions may void the warranty.

Replacement of the Language/Scenarios Card
- Reverse the main body, use two hands to take hold of it, put your thumb of right hand on the icon of the card compartment cover, pull outward and hard to open the cover.
- Use left hand to buttress the trainer body, put the thumb of righ hand on the upper left side, push rightward and hard to take out of the card.
- As showed in the following figure, use right hand to pinch the end of the card, ensure the finger icon corresponding with the center of the socket, at last, use the thumb to push inward and hard.
- Replace the compartment cover. Turn on the unit to test, iferroroccurs, plug in the card newly.
