The microphone from CMTECK® is a compact microphone designed to provi­de you with outstanding sound for communicating and recording. It sits flat on a surface such as a table or a desk and utilizes the reflections from the surface to capture sound.

Using CMTECK® Microphone

Using CMTECK® Microphone can be easy:

  • Conference – applicable to medium-sized meetings of 6-10 people, Creation – for podcasts, narratives, and voice-over HD audio Communication – through Skype, Windows Live TM and Google Talk clearly
About the working status

The LED indicator refers working status, when you first plug the mic into your device, the LED light will show green.

  • Green Light: The mic has been connected to your device successfully.
  • Green Strobe Light: The microphone is working and the Green Light will flash constantly.
  • Red Light: When you click the Mute Button to unmute your microphone, the LED light will show red.

For Windows (Take Windows 7 for example)

  1. Plug the microphone into the USB port of your computer using the provided USB cable.
  2. Select the CMTECK Microphone as the default audio input device.
    • Method 1:
    • Go to the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Double-click the Sound icon.

  * Select the SPEAKER and click the right mouse button
  1. Select the Recording tab, highlight the microphone icon labeled CMTECK, and click Set Default.

  1. To make further adjustments to the recording settings, double-click on the microphone icon labeled CMTECK.

From the drop-down menu, you can change the volume for audio recording. Please note that you should verify that these settings match the settings in your recording application

To get better sound quality

  • Set both the on-board control of the mic and the input/output level of the computer at 50%-75%. (When using a Windows computer, if there’s a “Microphone Boost”, turn it to 0.)
  • High volume setting is always the culprit for poor sound quality.

About the Audio Output(for Windows 7)

The microphone has a built-in 3.5mm audio output(works as an external sound card). It can connect 3.5mm audio devices like headphones, headset, speakers, etc.

How to use:

Select the Playback tab, and choose CMTECK as the default device.

For Apple-Macintosh OSX (10.4. 11 or higher)

  1. Make certain that any audio applications are closed.
  2. Plug the microphone into the USB port of your computer using the provid­ed USB cable.
  3. To set the USB microphone as the default audio input for audio, click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand of the screen and select System Preferences as shown in the figure below.
  4. Next, click on the Sound icon in the Hardware group as shown in the figure below.

  1. After opening the Sound dialog screen, there will be three tabs at the top of the window, select the Input tab by clicking on it.
  2. Then select the USB Audio Codec as the device for sound input as shown in

  1. By watching the movements of the Input level meter in this window, you can now see that the CMTECK microphone is working as you speak into it. This setting will be saved as the default input whenever the microphone is plugged in.

To get better sound quality

Troubleshooting

Question and Answer

  • Q1: No Sound from the Microphone
  • A1: Please check the USB connection, gain knob setting, mix knob setting, and headphone level.
  • Q2: Why the sound won’t playback from the computer?
  • A2: Please check you have set up your computer according to the ‘Getting Started’ section in this manual. Make sure that the ‘CMTECK microphone’ is set to be the default audio output. If your audio program was open before plugging in the microphone, you may need to close and re-open the program.
  • Q3: Bad/Distorted Sound from Microphone
  • A3: Please check the gain is not too high, based on the volume of the sound source you are recording.
  • Q4: Recorded sound isn’t the correct pitch when played back
  • A4: Please check to make sure your sample rates and bit-depths agree with your project settings and audio properties. This may require contacting the software manufacturer.
  • Q5: Is there a link for the drivers?
  • A5: No, if you use it on Windows or Mac, there’s no need to install drivers. Just plug and play.
  • Q6: I can’t get it to work on some APPs (such as for wine camera app reco­rding video) what do I need to do?
  • A6: Please plug the microphone into your computer first and then run the app. Also, you should select this microphone as a default input device in the Sound Settings of your computer.
  • Q7: The mic is not recognized by my pc and Mac, any suggestions?
  • A7:
    • Restart the computer and try another USB port.
    • Check if the “USB PnP Audio Device” appears in the sound settings of the computer, then the mic can work. If not, please email us. We will pro­vide other solutions to help.
  • Q8: Do I need to hook up external speakers to be able to hear other callers’ questions/comments? Or can I hear them through this device?
  • A8: You will need external speakers. This is a mic only.
  • Q9: Will this mic record 360°around?
  • A9: Yes, As an omnidirectional microphone, it can pick up the sound at 360 degrees.
  • Q10: Is this mic suitable for only one person speaking?
  • A10: Sure, it’s suitable for audio/video conference, skype, chatting, live stre­am …
  • Q11: Can this connect to a smartphone as an external mic?
  • A11: No, it is not able to connect to a smartphone. It is just a USB microphone.
  • Q12: Does this work with Skype?
  • A12: Yes, it does work with Skype very well.

Warranty

  • CMTECK microphones are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. If you encounter any problem with this unit, promptly contact the company from which you purchased it for assistance. The original dated sales receipt will be necessary for any warranty claim. Do not send any units directly to us without prior authorization from our service department.
  • Warranty coverage is limited to repair or replacement (at our option} of the microphone and does not cover incidental damages due to use of this unit, nor damage caused by accidental misuse of this product.

Care

  • Dust and foreign material can reduce the performance of a microphone over time, so you should store the Revelation Stereo in its case when not in use.
