PRESENTATION
Aimpoint® red dot sights are designed for the ”two eyes open” method which
greatly enhances situational awareness and target acquisition. The red dot
follows the movement of the user’s eye while remaining fixed on target,
eliminating any need for centering.

OPERATION
WARNING: Ensure the weapon is not loaded and the safety selector is in
the ”safe” position before attempting to install, remove or perform
maintenance.
2.1 Install or replace battery
a Unscrew and remove the battery cap (4) using the flat side of the
Aimpoint tool (10B) .
b If replacing battery, remove depleted battery from the battery
compartment by carefully pressing down on an edge as shown in Fig 2.
CAUTION: Take care not to damage the battery compartment. Do not use
sharp tools (e.g. a knife) to remove the battery. c Insert battery (3) with the positive
end (+) toward the battery cap (4) as seen in Fig. 1.
CAUTION: Check that the o-ring on the battery cap (4) is in position and
in good condition to ensure there is no water leakage into the battery
compartment.
d Tighten the battery cap (4) with the Aimpoint tool (10B).
When resistance is encountered, proceed to tighten until the battery cap (4)
is fully tightened.
NOTE: For long term storage of the sight, remove the battery (3).
2.2 Turn ON / OFF and adjust red dot intensity
-
Press or to turn the sight ON.
NOTE: The sight will always turn ON at setting 7 of 10. -
Hold to turn the sight OFF.
-
Press or to adjust red dot intensity.
2.3 Preparations for mounting
The sight comes with four support base plates (2) and four locking base plates
(7) to provide secure mounting to most shotgun rib dimensions. Use a caliper
to measure the dimensions of the shotgun rib to determine which combination of
base plates to use.
2.4 Placement on shotgun rib
The sight can be mounted anywhere on the shotgun rib depending on personal
preference. A starting point is to mount the sight about 10 cm / 4.0 in
measured from the forend toward the muzzle. Ensure that eye relief is
comfortable. 2.5 Base plate selection
a Measure the thickness and the width of the shotgun rib. b Use the base plate selection guide to determine which
combination of base plates are most likely to fit the shotgun rib. If the
suggested combination does not provide a secure fit, see ”Base plate
troubleshooting guide:” on page 15 for options.
CAUTION: The mounting of any optic onto the shotgun rib may damage the
shotgun if the rib is not suitable for handling the extra weight. Consult
local dealer/armourer if you are unsure if the shotgun rib is suitable for
mounting an optic.
Base plate selection guide:
2.6 Mount the sight to the shotgun rib
CAUTION: Do not use any thread locking fluid as it may damage the sight
housing.
a Install the support base plate (2) (1 / 2 / 3 / 4 ) to the sight.
b Assemble the
locking base plate (7) ( A / B / C / D ) , the washer (8) and the screw (9)
and install to the sight (do not fully tighten the screw).
c Place the sight on the shotgun rib. Press against the left hand side of
the sight (see arrow in fig. 3) against the shotgun rib and tighten the screw
(9) using the tool (10D) until fully tightened (MAX. 3 Nm / 2.2 ft·lb of
torque). Ensure the locking base plate (7) is installed parallel to the sight
housing.
d Grasp the sight and try to move it to check that it is securely mounted
to the shotgun rib.
e After initial firing, check that sight is securely mounted.
CAUTION: Ensure the base plates clamp around the shotgun rib to provide a secure fit. CAUTION: Ensure the sight is installed level to the top surface of the rib. CAUTION: Ensure the locking base plate (7) is not recessed beneath the surface of the sight housing as it will not provide a secure fit. NOTE: If the locking base plate (7) is protruding more than 2 mm / .08 in from the sight housing, or is recessed beneath the surface of the sight housing, change base plates according to the base plate troubleshooting guide.
Base plate troubleshooting guide: First try the appropriate primary option. If this change does not provide a secure fit, try the secondary option.
2.7 Zeroing
CAUTION: Do not continue to adjust windage and elevation if you encounter
resistance. The mechanism can break if over-adjusted.
Zeroing direction arrows on the sight housing refer to movement of Point Of
Impact (POI).
a Adjust the intensity to a comfortable setting for the red dot to
contrast against the target.
b Adjust elevation (see Fig. 4):
- Turn elevation screw counterclockwise to move POI up.
- Turn elevation screw clockwise to move POI down.
c Adjust windage (see Fig. 5):
- Turn windage screw counterclockwise to move POI to the right.
- Turn windage screw clockwise to move POI to the left.
NOTE: Each click of the elevation and windage screw corresponds to approx. 2 cm movement of Point Of Impact (POI) at 100 m (.7 in at 100 yds). Consequently, at 25 m, each click corresponds to 0.5 cm movement of POI (.2 in at 25 yds).
MAINTENANCE
- Extreme heat (moist or dry): no special procedures required.
- Extreme cold: extreme cold might shorten battery life.
- Salt air: no special procedures required.
- Sea spray, water, mud and snow: ensure the battery cap (4) is tightened before exposing the sight to sea spray, mud, snow or before submerging the sight in water. Clean lenses with lens paper/cloth and wipe the sight dry as soon as possible after exposure to water, sea spray, mud or snow.
- Dust storms and sand storms: no special procedures required.
- High altitudes: no special procedures required.
CAUTION: Never clean the lenses with fingers. Use lens paper/cloth. If lens paper/cloth is not available:
- To clear away debris (sand, grass etc.): blow away the dirt or rinse with clear water.
- To clean lenses: fog the lenses or rinse with clear water and clean them with a soft piece of cloth.
