Product Usage Instructions

Charging the Built-in Rechargeable Battery

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable between the radio and the power supply.
  2. Use a 5V DC/1A-3A power adapter to charge the battery. The full charge time is about 2-3 hours.
  3. While charging, the power icon will flow from right to left continuously. When the battery is fully charged, the power icon will stop flowing and appear as solid.
  4. You can see the current battery capacity by looking at the power icon. The power levels are as follows:
    • 3 cells power: 4.0-4.2V
    • 2 cells power: 3.75-4.0V
    • 1 cell power: 3.45-3.75V
    • 0 cell power: 2.75-3.45V. When power is less than 3.1V, the power icon will flash.
      Cautions: Please charge the battery at least once a month.

Operating the Radio

  • Power Switch:

    • Press the power button (15) on the side of the radio to turn it on. The radio will enter time mode when it is turned on for the first time.
    • Press the power button (15) again to turn on the radio and play.
    • While the radio is playing, press the power button (15) to activate the pause function. Press the power button (15) again to cancel the pause function.
    • To turn off the radio, press and hold the power button (15) for 2 seconds. The radio will then enter time mode.
      Cautions: When turned off, the radio enters power-saving mode and the monitor (1) goes off after 10 seconds. If checking the time, press the power button (15) to enter time mode.
  • Sleep Timer:

    • Press the power button (15) to enter time mode.
    • Press and hold the power button (15) for 2 seconds to enter the sleep timer function setting.

Charging the Buit-in Rechargeable Battery

  1. When charging the rechargeable battery, connect the USB Type-C cable between the radio and the power supply.
  2. Use 5V DC/1A-3A power adapter to charge the battery, full charge time is about 2-3 hours.
  3. While charging, the power icon will flow from right to left continuously. When the battery is fully charge, the power icon will stop flowing and appear as solid.
  4. You can see the current battery capacity by looking at the power icon.
    • 3 cells power: 4.0-4.2V

Operation the Radio

Power Switch

  • Press the power button 15 on the side of the radio, the radio will enter time mode when it is turned on the very 1st time. Press the button 15 again to turn the radio on to play.
  • While the radio is playing, press the button 15 to turn on the pause function, and press the button 15 again to cancel the pause function.
  • To turn off the radio, please press and hold the button 15 for 2 seconds. Then it will enter the time mode.
    Cautions: When turned off, the radio enters power saving mode and the monitor 1 goes off after 10 seconds. If checking the time, press the button 15 to enter time mode.

Sleep Timer

  • Press the button 15 to enter time mode
  • Press and hold the button 15 for 2 seconds to enter the sleep timer function setting. The sleep timer timer shutdown time will be displayed on the monitor 1.
  • By press the button 15 continuously, this sleep timer time value can be setting as 90,80,70,60,50,40,30,20 or 10 minutes.
  • After the user selects a sleep timer time value among the 9 setting values, pause any operation and wait 2 seconds to save the setting.
  • If there is no manual intervention, the radio will automatically turn off when the set time of the sleep timer comes. If you need to turn off the radio earlier, press and hold the button 15 to turn off the radio.

Radio Band Selection
When the radio is on, press the band select button 5 continuously to choose different radio bands or mode, FM, VHF(NFM/WFM), AM, SW, WB or BT (Bluetooth).

Adjust the Sound Volume
When the radio is on, press the volume+ button 16 continuously increases the volume; press the volume- button 17 continuously decreases the volume. The monitor 1 shows the current volume level. which is divided into “V00-V32” levels.

Stored Memory Radio Station

  • Press the button 15 to turn on the radio.
  • Press the Band select button 5 to select different radio bands, FM, VHF(NMF/WFM), AM or SW.
  • Press and hold the stored memories button 4 for 2 seconds, the current band starts an automatic search and when a station is detected, it is automatically stored in the memory space. Each band has 99 memory address (01-99). Total 396 memories.
  • When the storage is finished, press the stored memories+ button 8 or stored memories- button 9 to choose a memory address you prefer (01-99).

Automatic Tuning

  • Press the frequency upward search button 6 or frequency downwardsearch button 7 to search for a radio station.
  • Long press the button 6 or button 7 for 2 seconds to auto search for a radio station and stop when a station is found.
  • Press and hold the button 6 or button 7 for fast frequency stepping

Manual Storage the Radio Station

  • Press the button 15 to turn on the radio.
  • Press the button 5 to select different radio bands, FM, VHF (NFM/WFM), AM or SW.
  • Press the button 6 or button 7 to choose a radio station frequency you prefer.
  • Press the button 4, the memory address (01-99) and the prefix “PRESET” will appear and flash on the monitor 1.
  • Press the button 8 or button 9 to choose a memory address you prefer.
  • Press the button 4 to confirm and save the settings.

Shortwave (Meter Band) Band Operation
Shortwave frequency range: 3.20-21.95MHz, set with 10 meter bands for more convenient selection of shortwave stations. When listening to shortwave, press the key lock/stereo button 3, the radio enters the shortwave (meter band) band. Press the button 3 continuously to choose 4.75, 5.60, 7.35, 9.90, 12.10, 13.87, 15.80, 17.90, 19.10 or 21.85MHz.

VHF(Very High Frequency) Band Operation
This radio can receive VHF-(NFM/WFM) dual modulation mode.

  1. VHF-NFM: The factory bandwidth value of the radio is 5kHz, which can receive train channels/racing channels/VHF 2 way radio/VHF (HAM), etc.
  2. VHF-WFM: In this mode 4 bandwidths 50kHz,100kHz,150kHz or 200kHz can be chosen. The operation of selecting the bandwidth is:
    • Press the button 15 to enter time mode.
    • Press and hold the button 9 for 2 seconds to enter frequency bandwidth settings.
    • Press the button 9 again to choose a bandwidth step you prefer.

BT (Bluetooth) Operation
Bluetooth name is: RF886.

  • Press the button 15 to turn on the radio.
  • Press the button 5 continuously to choose BT (Bluetooth) mode, the Bluetooth icon will be displayed and flash on the monitor 1. Indicates that a connection is pending. After a successful connection, the Bluetooth icon will always be displayed on the monitor 1.
  • Press the button 15 to pause or resume playback. Press the button 6 or button 7 to control the selection of the previous music or the next music.

WB (Weather Band) Operation
Press the button 5 continuously to choose WB (Weather Band). Then press the button 6 or button 7 to choose one of the 7 NOAA weather stations.

NOAA Weather Alert Function Operation
NOAA Alert allows you to set the radios to a standby mode in which the radio will turn on automatically if it picks up an emergency alert signal from your local NOAA station. How to set up:

  • With the power off, press and hold the button 3 for 2 seconds until the auto NOAA weather alert icon displays and flashes on the monitor 1.
  • Press and hold the button 3 for 2 seconds to exit the NOAA alert function.
    Cautions: After activating the NOAA Alert function, all buttons are locked. It is necessary to long press the button 3 to turn off the NOAA alert function before the key control can be restored.

Earphone Jack
The radio is equipped with a φ3.5mm stereo earphone jack 12 on the top, which supports headphone for private listening.

Restore Factory Settings
In time mode, press the buttons 8, 9 and 8 in sequence and confirm by pressing the button 15 again when “rESET” appears to flash.

FM Stereo Function

  • To listen to FM station, plug stereo headphones into the earphone jack 12 and the FM stereo icon appears on the monitor 1 to listen to FM stereo.
  • If you do not want to listen to stereo, press the FM stereo button 10 and the FM stereo icon on the monitor 1 disappears and it will be played in normal sound quality.

Key Lock Function

  • Press and hold the button 3 and the key lock icon appears on the monitor 1. Buttons locked except Siren and SOS light/ torch button 18 and button 3.
  • Press and hold the button 3 to cancel the key lock function and the key lock icon on the monitor 1 will disappear.

EQ (Equalizer) Operation
In radio or Bluetooth mode, press EQ (Equalizer) selection button 2 continuously to select EQ (Equalizer):

  • E1: (NORMAL)
  • E2: (POP)(NORMAL)
  • E3: (ROCK);
  • E4: (JAZZ);
  • E5: (CLASSIC);
  • E6: (COUNTRY);
    After selecting the EQ (Equalizer) you prefer, stay for 3 seconds for automatic confirmation.

Siren and SOS Light/Torch Function Operation

  • Press the button 18 and the lights change sequentially: (torch – flashlight – turns off all lights)
  • Press and hold the button 18 for 2 seconds to enter siren and SOS light mode, then press button 18 again to turn off all lights and alarms.

Time Function Operation (In Time Mode)

  • Press and hold the button 2 for 2 seconds until the hour is flashing, then press button 6 or button 7 to adjust the hour.
  • Press the button 2, then the minutes flash, then press button 6 or button 7 to adjust the minutes.
  • Press the button 2, “24Hr” or “12Hr” appears in monitor 1, press button 6 or button 7 to select the timing method. If the “12Hr” timing method is selected, the PM icon will appear in monitor 1 every afternoon.
  • Finally press button 2 to save the time setting.

Cautions: Time function operations need to be completed within the flashing time (5 seconds). The current operation will be canceled when the flashing stops.

  • Alarm Clock Operation (In Time Mode)
    Press the button 10 to turn on/off the alarm clock function, when the alarm clock function is turned on, the clock   icon appears on the monitor 1.

    • Press and hold the button 10 for 2 seconds until the hour is flashing, then press button 6 or button 7 to adjust the hour.
    • Press the button 10, then the minutes flash, then press button 6 or button 7 to adjust the minutes.
    • Press the button 10, the “bu2” or “rAd” flashes on monitor 1, then press button 6 or button 7 to select one.
    • Finally press button 10 to save the alarm clock setting.

  • Select ” bu2″: when the running time reaches the set time, the clock icon flashes and a buzz sound is emitted. 5 minutes later, the alarm stops ringing. lf you press button 10 while the buzz sound is being made, it will enter a 9-minute snooze time, the snooze icon will flash on the monitor 1 and the buzz sound will be made again after 9 minutes.
    Cautions: When buzz sounds, pressing any button other than button 10 will turn off the current alarm clock function.

  • To turn on the snooze function: press button 10 when the buzz sounds.

  • Select “rAd”: when the running time reaches the set time, the radio will automatically turn on to the working mode before shutdown, the sleep timer icon will appear on the monitor 1, and it will automatically shutdown after reaching the shutdown time (if shutdown in Bluetooth mode, you need to click on the Bluetooth device to play). Select “rAd” and set the auto power off time, and start from step c:

    • Press the button 10, the “bu2” or “rAd” flashes on monitor 1, then press button 6 or button 7 to select “rAd”
    • Press button 6 or button 7 to select the shutdown time after automatic power on.
    • Finally press button 10 to save the alarm clock setting.

The RF886 can receive FM/VHF(NFM or WFM)/AM/SW/WB bands, the frequency range is shown in the table below:

Frequency Setting (In Time Mode)
Users can choose one of the 4 type frequencies according to the local radio frequency.

  • Press and hold the button 8 for 2 seconds, “87.5” will appear and flash on the monitor 1.
  • Press the button 6 or button 7 to choose 87.5, 87, 76 or 64 MHz.
  • Press the button 8 to confirm the setting.

NOAA Weather Band Operation (In Time Mode)

  • Press and hold the button 5 for 2 seconds, “OFF” or “ON” appears and flashes on the display.
  • Press the button 6 or button 7 to choose on or off.
  • Press the button 5 to confirm the setting.

Use the Straight Pull Antenna

  • When listening to the FM, VHF, SW or WB band, please extend the straight pull antenna 11 to optimize the reception. Adjust the length of the antenna 11 according to the signal intensity to achieve optimal reception. When the reception signal is weak, you can use the external antenna in the supplied accessories to enhance the signal reception.
  • The radio uses its internal iron oxide bar antenna to receive the AM signal. Therefore, it won’t be necessary to use the straight pull antenna 11. To improve radio’s AM reception, try to change the radio’s location or adjust its orientation.
    Cautions: It’s better to use it near a windows or open space, in order to receive better signals.
