CROUSE-HINDS TMC-K9 Corrosion Protection Kit

APPLICATIONS

• TMC-K Series Cold Shrink™ Corrosion Protection Kits are designed to provide a quick and easy method for protecting TMC and TMCX Series Terminator® Cable Fittings from the corrosive influences of wet and salt-fog installation environments.
• A TMC-K Cold Shrink™ Corrosion Protection Assembly is an open-ended tubular rubber sleeve ,…,hich is factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. The core is removed after the assembly has been positioned for installation over a Terminator® Cable Fitting.
• TMC-K Cold Shrink™ Assemblies are made from EPDM rubber material that contains no chlorides or sulfurs. They conform to the moisture seal requirements of ANSI Standard C119.1.

TMC-K Series Corrosion Protection Kits are assigned according to the following table:

METHODS

Mastic material, provided in each TMC-K Kit, is meant to fill and seal the NPT thread area of each Terminator® Cable Fitting prior to Cold Shrink™ Assembly installation. The mastic is provided in two forms:

• TMC-K1 through TMC-K6 . . . Mastic Strips
• TMC-K7 through TMC-K10 . . Mastic Roll

TMC-K1, TMC-K2 & TMC-K3:

Two Cold Shrink™ Assemblies are provided in these kits. The smaller of these (less than three inches long) serves as an adapter to increase the diameter range of the protective outer sleeve assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Position Cold Shrink™ Assembly © (Figure 2) over cable jacket. Direct loose core pull tab onto cable first as shown.
   NOTE (TMC-K1, TMC-K2 & TMC-K3 Kits): Position smaller Cold Shrink™ Assembly over the cable last as shown ® (Figure 2).

2. Install TMC or TMCX Terminator® Cable Fitting according to instructions provided. See typical example @ (Figure 2).

3. Use mastic seal strips {or roll) from kit to fill gap over NPT threads of fitting © (Figure 3).
   Remove white release liners before wrapping. Build mastic level to flats of fitting hex nut. Mastic material may be folded to ease wrapping.

4. TMC-K1, TMC-K2, TMC-K3 Only: Position Cold Shrink™ Adapter Assembly as shown ® (Figure 4). Install by unwinding loose core pull tab in a counter-clockwise direction around cable.

5. Position Cold Shrink™ Corrosion Protection Assembly ® (Figure 5) over Terminator® Cable Fitting. Install by unwinding the loose core pull tab in a counter-clockwise direction around cable. The rubber corrosion protection sleeve should make contact with the enclosure wall during installation.
   NOTE : Plastic core is recyclable
