Note: the maximum external voltage of I/O is 36V, and the maximum output current is 200mA. If the current exceeds this range, the device will be damaged.

3.2.2 Power supply
Under normal circumstances, the power supply is 12V~36V. The current needs more than 1.5A (rated 12V) when the device is starting. Send the operation instruction to device in the monitoring software, if the device doesn‟t respond accordingly, first check whether the voltage/current of the device is within the required range. If the starting current is too low, the device cannot start normally; if the voltage/current is too high, the device element will be burned out.

3.2.3 Drive installation and operation
Visit http://www.top1sensor.com/ to download product files of the corresponding model. Install the serial port driver after decompressing the software. Usually, you need to separately insert the conversion board into the USB port of the computer separately without powering on the device, then proceed to the next step after the serial port is successfully installed. Before power on the . Lidar, USB must be connected to the host computer. If power on the Lidar first and then connect the USB to computer, the mouse may be uncontrolled. Please pay attention to the operation sequence. After the installation is successful, run “FaseLase LiDAR Point Cloud Data Acquisition and Analysis System V8.02.exe” to work normally.

Data acquisition

Run “FaseLase LiDAR point cloud data acquisition and analysis system V8.02.exe”program, then pop-up the communication setting window (as shown Figure 6). The setup steps as follow,
① Select Device: S5,
② Select Serial Port:COM4,(the serial port can automatically be identified by computer)
③ Select Band Rate: 921600, it is not be modified.
Click „Yes‟ to enter the monitoring window (as shown Fig 7).
Stop bit 1, data bit 8, parity none.

① Set up voltage required for the current I/O input group;
② Select the input group through the drop-down menu;
(3) The number of current group and the total number of areas of all groups;
(4) The group where the current liDAR internal scanning detection is located;
Select the group to be set through the drop-down menu in the setting window. There are 4 groups to choose from. Each group supports three different protection areas. For example, numbers 1-3 refer to protection area 3 in group

  1. Read device area: read the protection area information written in the current liDAR Save all to device: information about each protection area of the 4 groups is written into the liDAR
    Delete all: delete all information of 12 groups
    Save selected area to device: write the currently selected information of the protection area into the liDAR, other numbers remain unchanged;

As shown in the figure 9, “current input Group is Group4”, the connected voltage state of the liDAR IO_In1 and IO_In2 is high. In the wiring state of IO_In, the liDAR calls three region protection areas in the fourth group. The blue line in the interface is the effect diagram of data point cloud actually measured by LiDAR. Protect 3 is a polygon with 4 vertices and 46 data points (the largest quadrilateral in the figure is the protect 3, it is expressed as “3:46″), it meets the condition of sensitivity 5 (Sensitivity 5 means that the trigger condition is met if there are at least 5 data points in the area), it triggers the output of low level of IO_Out3 (originally, IO_Out3 was always high level, but changed to low level output after meeting the trigger condition). At the same time, all the edges of the figure of protect 3 changed from green to red, the font of ” Protect 3″ also changed from green to red, and the front panel indicator light of the lidar changed to the corresponding state. Similarly, polygons in protect 1 and protect 2 have no data points, which does not meet the trigger condition of sensitivity 5. Therefore, high level signals are output at IO_Out1 and IO_OUT2 respectively.
Click the STOP button to stop the motor before modifying the Lidar Settings. Otherwise, communication failure will occur. After pausing, click the “read all areas” button first (the
graphics saved by the software may be inconsistent with the graphics stored by the Lidar), so that the graphics saved in the Lidar can overwrite the graphics cached in the software. For example, if you want to set image of protect 1in Group 4, click the left mouse button in column 4-1 and move the mouse to the right grid diagram. Click the left mouse button at any position to set the first coordinate point. As long as the graph is not closed, click the left mouse button can add a new point every time and automatically connect with the previous point. After each click, the coordinate of the point will be displayed on the right side of the point. Click the left mouse button on the edge of the closed graph to add coordinates, drag to change the graph, currently supports up to five vertices.

Right-click the mouse at the coordinate point to pop up the option box. By editing the status of the point, you can also choose to edit area, delete point, delete area, or delete group, delete all at once. “load file ” and “save as file” can save 12 set areas in 4 groups in files with ini suffixes, making it easier to load files directly next time.

6

In the edit mode, you can fine-tune the position of the coordinate point by input the specific coordinate value, you can also set the level mode of the output of the protection area in the
triggered state (output high level or set to output low level when breaking into the region protection area), you can also choose whether the protection area is polygon or sector.
Sensitivity refers to the threshold of the number of trigger points in the area protection, for example, the sensitivity of area protection 1 is 5, this protect area will not trigger the output
level change when there are only 4 points in area protection 1. The selected area protection will turn into a blue line, and the coordinates of the points will be displayed. After all Settings are completed, click “save selected area” or “save all to device” and click to run, and the Lidar is operating in the newly defined area.
