ASSEMBLY
Connect the ROLLER BARREL to the ROLLER FRAME and secure with the BARREL COLLAR by turning clockwise.
Clip the SPLATTER SHIELD into the end of the ROLLER BARREL and onto the ROLLER FRAME.
Secure the FLOOR STAND into the small openings at the base of the PAINT TUBE/ HANDLE.
Insert the ROLLER FRAME into the end of the PAINT TUBE as shown. Secure by turning the COLLAR clockwise.
Insert the DUCK VALVE into the centre of the FILL TUBE COLLAR as shown.
Screw the FILL TUBE COLLAR and DUCK VALVE to the base of the PAINT TUBE.
Clip the FILL TUBE to the PAINT CAN CLIP ensuring the ring (circled) sits behind the arm. This will prevent the FILL TUBE being lifted out of the paint during the extraction process.
With the PAINT CAN CLIP and FILL TUBE assembled, this can now be inserted and connected to the desired paint can.
NOTE: For deeper paint containers, we recommend you attach a piece of plastic tubing or hose ( 38.1mm in diameter) to the end of the FILL TUBE.
USAGE
IMPORTANT: Before use, it is important that both the FILL TUBE nozzle and DUCK VALVE are lubricated with the PETROLEUM JELLY. This will prevent any air being withdrawn into the paint tube.
Place the FILL TUBE COLLAR over the FILL TUBE nozzle and firmly push down until fully inserted. This is easier when held at a 45° angle.
Holding the PAINT TUBE with one hand, hold the PLUNGER with the other and slowly withdraw. DO NOT exceed the MAX volume (0.52L)
IMPORTANT: Pump the plunger downwards slightly to inject the paint into the PAINT BARREL before withdrawing more paint. Repeat this process several time to prime the PAINT BARREL before first use.
To remove the PAINT TUBE from the FILL TUBE nozzle, firmly hold the top of the PAINT CAN CLIP as shown and pull the PAINT TUBE away.
Sit the Paint Roller down on a dust sheet or newspaper using the FLOOR STAND before you are ready to begin painting or during breaks.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
With the ROLLER BARREL removed, fill a bucket or large container with
warm, soapy water.
Attach the PAINT CAN CLIP/FILL TUBE to the bucket or container and insert
the nozzle into the PAINT TUBE.
Extract the soapy water by pulling the PLUNGER so all of the water is
inside the PAINT TUBE.
Pump all of the water back out of the PAINT TUBE and into the bucket or
container.
REPEAT this process around 5 times until the PAINT TUBE is clean.
NOTE: You may wish to dispose of the dirty water after 2 pumps and replace with warm and soapy clean water to aid the removal of paint.
Remove the ROLLER FRAME and immerse the PAINT TUBE in a fresh bucket of warm, soapy water.
As in the previous step, pull back the PLUNGER and pump the warm water in and out of the PAINT TUBE to clean.
Repeat 4-5 times until the water remains clear. Disassemble the FILL TUBE COLLAR and DUCK VALVE at the base of the PAINT TUBE ready for cleaning as shown below. Wash the removable components in warm, soapy water and scrub clean with a soft sponge.
Completely dry the DUCK VALVE & FILL TUBE COLLAR before re-coating with a thin layer of the PETROLEUM JELLY supplied.
Using a pair of pliers (not supplied) pull out the centre of the ROLLER
BARREL and end cap. Wash all of these components in warm soapy water until
they are completely clear of any paint residue.
Soak up any moisture using a towel and leave the Paint Roller sponge to
completely dry before reassembling.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT dispose of the end cap or the centre of the ROLLER BARREL. These are needed when purchasing new replacement accessories.
Remove the PLUNGER from the PAINT TUBE and wipe away any excess water.
When the PLUNGER is completely dry, apply a new layer of PETROLEUM
JELLY around the rubber seal rings using your finger and insert the
PLUNGER back into the PAINT TUBE.
Secure into position using the locking ring.
HINTS & TIPS
- Only use the perforated Paint Roller (spares available online). Standard Rollers will not work.
- Inspect the Paint roller for lint before painting, if needed, wash and dry before use.
- When using the Long Reach Paint Roller for the first application, it will take most of the paint in the PAINT TUBE to saturate the Roller. A second fill of the PAINT TUBE may be needed.
- Ensure you keep the Roller moving when applying pressure on the PLUNGER to prevent any dripping.
- If the Paint Roller starts to slide along the walls, remove any pressure from the PLUNGER. This indicates too much paint has been inserted into the ROLLER BARREL.
- When painting in tight spaces, partially fill the PAINT TUBE as this will reduce the overall length of the Paint Roller making it easier to handle.
- When leaving the Long Reach Paint Roller unattended for a long period of time, wrap the ROLLER BARREL in cling film or a bag to prevent it from drying out.
- Ensure the type of paint being used can be cleaned using mineral spirits or warm water. Avoid using any gloss pains as this will easily block the PAINT TUBE.
- Always protect you floor surfaces by placing dust sheets down before painting.
- If you are using the FLOOR STAND , ensure all pressure has been removed from the PLUNGER to prevent any paint from dripping.
SURFACE PREPARATION
With any paint task, you should always ensure that you have prepared your surface to get the best finish.
You must ensure all surfaces are free from dust, dirt, rust and grease. Lightly pressure wash decks or exterior surfaces and ensure they are completely dry before painting.
With pre-coated or pre-painted surfaces, lightly rub down with sandpaper to ensure a good bond for the paint. With bare wood surfaces, wipe with a damp rag to ensure the surface is free of dust.
NOTE: Allow to dry completely before painting
