EVEREADY PT101 Pop Up Toaster

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

This product is designed and intended for household use only. Please read all the instructions carefully before using Eveready Pop-Up Toaster, even if you are familiar with the appliance and place it handy for future reference.

  1. Do not immerse the appliance, electrical power cord or the plug, in the water or any other liquid.
  2. Ensure that the voltage specified on the rating label of your appliance, corresponds to your house electricity supply voltage before plug in.
  3. Keep the Toaster at least 6 inches away from the wall. Bread being toasted might burn, thus releasing smoke. So keep the appliance away from any flammable items like curtains, towels etc. Care should be taken that the appliance is also used / kept on a flame retardant surface during use.
  4. Do not operate the appliance when it is damaged or it works improperly, or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. Bring the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adiustments to avoid any hazardi
  5. Switch off and remove the plug from the power outlet when it is not in use, also while cleaning or removing the crumb tray.
  6. Do not operate the appliance with crumb tray in slide out position. Do not cover the bread slots while the Toaster is in use.
  7. Use the Toaster on a stable, firm and dry surface.
  8. When using extension cord with your appliance, make sure that the extension cord is correctly wired and rated for its use.
  9. Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the main supply outlet.
  10. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table, counter or in touch with any hot surface.
  11. Do not touch the hot surfaces of this appliance. Do not touch the metal body of the Toaster during or immediately after operation, as it will be hot. Severe burns may result from misuse.
  12. Appliance should not be covered or stored unless cooled to the room temperature.
  13. Keep the appliance out of reach of children at all times. Close supervision is necessary when used near children or by physically challenged persons or by people who lack the experience to use the same appliance.
  14. Never carry the appliance by the electrical cord or yank it to disconnect it from the outlet, instead of it, grasp the plug and pull out to disconnect.
  15. The use of attachments or accessories not recommended or sold by Eveready may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury
  16. To clean, wipe the exterior part with a damp cloth and then again with a clean dry cloth.
  17. Do not operate or place any part of this appliance on or near any hot surface (Such as gas or electric burner or a heated oven).
  18. Body-contact with the elements inside the Toaster could result in getting electric shock. To get free broken or burnt toast, unplug the Toaster from the power outlet and turn it upside-down.
  19. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
  20. Bread with Jam, Butter, Oil etc spreaded on the surface should not be toasted as it could lead to fire. This appliance is only recommended for toasting bread. Do not put any other foodstuff for heating or  toasting.
  21. Never insert a knife or any other utensil into the Toaster. Doing so, it could cause damage to the Toaster and/or a safety hazard.
  22. Do not use over sized bread or metal foil packages.
  23. Immediately unplug the Toaster if fire or smoke is observed

HOW TO USE YOUR 2 SLICED TOASTER

Before using the appliance for the first time, heat it up once or twice at the highest toasting temperature, without any bread. Ensure that the room is well ventilated.

TYPES OF BREADS

All types of breads can be used for toasting, but the slices should not be too thin or too thick. Fresh bread and dark coarse bread require longer toasting than drier bread; the appliance must be set with this in mind.

OPERATION

  • Before using the appliance for the first time, carefully unpack the Toaster and remove all packaging materials. Wipe the body of the Toaster with a soft damp sponge or cloth. Plug-in the Toaster into a standard domestic power outlet and switch on the power.

  • Adjust the browning control to the desired toast colour setting Choose a setting based on the type of bread you are toasting and your personal preferences. Start on a medium setting (3-4 and adjust the variable browning control to a lighter setting (1-2 or darker setting (5-7).
    Note : The condition of the bread will determine how quickly it toasts. Dry or stale bread toasts faster than the fresh bread. Place bread into the bread slots and press the lever down until it locks into the position. Note : The lever will not lock into the position if the Toaster is not plugged into a power outlet or if the power outlet is not switched on. When toasting is complete, the toast will pop up and the Toaster will switch off automatically.

  • When toasting is complete, the toast will pop up and the Toaster will switch off automatically.

  • Toasting may be interrupted during the cycle by pressing the cancel button. Toasting will stop and the toast will pop up.

  • Allow the Toaster 15 to 20 seconds to cool down before beginning the next toasting cycle.
    Note: Do not touch the Toaster’s sides when the toaster is in use.

REHEAT FUNCTION

Toast can be reheated by placing cold toast in the bread slots, lowering the lever and pressing the reheat button. The reheat light will come on and the toast will be reheated over a short, fixed period of time.
Note: When using the reheat function, keep a close eye on the bread to ensure that it doesn’t burn.

CANCEL FUNCTION

The toasting cycle can be stopped at any stage by pressing the cancel button. The toast will pop up and the Toaster will switch off automatically.

DEFROST FUNCTION

  • The defrost function is useful for thawing and toasting frozen bread all in one operation.
  • Adjust the variable browning control to the desired toast colour setting. Start on a medium setting (3-4) and adjust the variable browning control to a lighter setting (1-2) or darker setting (5-7) depending on your personal preference.
  • Place the bread into the bread slots.
  • Press the lever down to the locked position and press the defrost button. The defrost light will illuminate.
  • When thawing and toasting is complete, the toast will pop up and the Toaster will switch off automatically.

CARE AND CLEANING

  1. Before commencing the cleaning operation, pull out the main plug.
  2. Do not immerse the appliance in water.
  3. Never use an abrasive cleaner to clean the appliance, clean it with a damp cloth and then dry it with a soft cloth.
  4. Regularly pull out and empty the crumb tray.
  5. Before pulling out the crumb tray, allow the appliance to cool down for at least ten minutes after completion of the preceeding toasting operation.
  6. Clean with a moist cloth and then replace the crumb tray into the appliance.
  7. Never use the appliance without the crumb tray in position.
    Note: Do not try to clean the inside of the Toaster, as this may damage the heating elements. Water and liquids must never enter into the Toaster.
