Air Shock Adjustment Tool
The “Matrix IC7 – Gas Shock Replacement” video on the Matrix Fitness YouTube channel (playlist: Service Videos) shows how to use this tool. Relevant instructions begin at 02:27. There are two air shocks (also called gas shocks) on the bike: One is inside the seat post and the other is inside the handlebar post.1 Use the air shock adjustment tool to tension the air shock cables:
-
Close the corresponding vertical adjustment flip lever.
-
Turn the bike on its side and remove the gas damper bracket cover.
-
Place the tool between the engagement lever and the bowden cable.
-
When properly tensioned, the tool should fit snugly. If it does not, use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the corresponding ferrale adjustment bolt.
1 Additional notes for testing the air shocks:
- With the seat or handlebars in the most elevated position and the adjustment lever locked, put all of your weight on the seat/handlebar and try to get it to drop. If it does, you may need to adjust the ferrule on the shock. If adjusting does not help, the shock may need to be replaced.
- When you release the vertical seat post locking lever, the shock will push the seat up by itself. Lifting the vertical handlebar locking lever will not cause the handlebar to lift up. This is due to the weight of the handlebar it is not a problem with the shock.
Brake Adjustment Tool
The “Matrix IC7 – Brake Pad Adjustment” video on the Matrix Fitness YouTube channel (playlist: Service Videos) shows how to use this tool. Use the brake adjustment tool to position the emergency brake (also called mechanical brake):
- Remove the side covers. Place the tool on the brake pad.
- When the brake is properly adjusted, the tool is flush with the flywheel (the bottom of the brake pad should not touch the flywheel)2.
- If the tool is not flush with the flywheel, reposition the brake:
· To make horizontal adjustments, loosen the two bracket screws and move the bracket.
· To make vertical adjust the cable end that touches the side of the bracket
2 Additionally, when pedaling the bike and pushing the emergency brake, the whole length of the brake pad should come in contact with the flywheel. Once contact is made, the brake pad will release back to its original position and the crank arm should not turn more than ¼ – ¾ of a revolution.
Lower Cable Routing Tool
Use the lower cable routing tool to make sure that the lower emergency brake (also called mechanical brake) cable follows the correct path through the frame. <See diagram on page #5>
Magnetic Resistance Adjustment Tool
The “Matrix IC7 – Resistance Adjustment” video on the Matrix Fitness YouTube channel (playlist: Service Videos) shows how to use this tool. Use the magnetic resistance adjustment tool to position the magnet next to the flywheel:
- Remove the side covers.
- When the tool is mounted into the holes in the magnet set, it should just touch (but not scrape against) the flywheel.
- To reposition the magnets, adjust the cable end that attaches to the magnet bracket.
- Complete a brake calibration on the console and then reattach the side covers.
Shroud Alignment Tool
Use the shroud alignment tool to position the shroud back in its place after you remove the crank arms and the shroud.
Upper Cable Routing Tool
Use the upper cable routing tool to make sure that the emergency brake (also called mechanical brake) cable follows the correct path through the frame.
