Recessed Area or Closet Installation
If you are planning to install the washer in a recessed area or closet, make sure to leave the following clearances:
- Top Clearance: 3 inches (76 mm)
- Rear Clearance: 14 inches (356 mm)
- Side Clearance: 1 inch (25 mm)
Dimensions show recommended spacing allowed, except for closet door ventilation openings which are minimum required. This washer has been tested for installation with a spacing of 0″ (0 mm) clearance on the sides. Consider allowing more space for ease of installation and servicing, and spacing for companion appliances and clearances for walls, doors, and floor moldings. Add spacing of 1″ (25 mm) on all sides of the washer to reduce noise transfer. If a closet door or louvered door is installed, top and bottom air openings in the door are required.
Electrical Requirements
The washer requires a 120 volt, 60 Hz., AC only, 15- or 20-amp, fused electrical supply. It is recommended to use a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. A separate circuit serving only this appliance is recommended.
Drain System
The drain system for the washer can be installed using different methods depending on your needs:
Floor Standpipe Drain System
The minimum diameter for a standpipe drain is 2 inches (51 mm) with a minimum carry-away capacity of 17 gallons (64 L) per minute. The top of the standpipe must be at least 39 inches (990 mm) high, and it should not be installed higher than 96 inches (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer. If you need to install it higher than 96 inches, a sump pump system is required.
Wall Standpipe Drain System
The floor drain system requires additional components including a Siphon Break Kit (Part Number 285834), 2 Connector Kits (Part Number 285835), and an Extension Drain Hose (Part Number 285863) that can be purchased separately. The minimum distance for the siphon break is 28 inches (710 mm) from the bottom of the washer. Additional hoses may be needed.
Laundry Tub Drain System
The minimum capacity for the laundry tub drain system is 20 gallons (76 L). The top of the laundry tub must be at least 39 inches (990 mm) above the floor, and it should not be installed higher than 96 inches (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer. The requirements for the floor standpipe drain system also apply to the laundry tub drain system.
IMPORTANT: To avoid siphoning, ensure that no more than 4.5 inches (114 mm) of the drain hose is inside the standpipe or below the top of the wash tub. Secure the drain hose with a cable tie.
