Product Usage Instructions
Disassembling Your New Shocks :
- Pull shocks apart by first pulling off the black retainer.
- Remove spring from shock.
- Remove 2 flat washers and flat bearing from lower shock.
Preparing Your Shocks for Installation :
- Apply provided anti-seize lubricant. Use a generous amount of anti-seize on the bearing and washers on both sides. We recommend using a light coat of Marine Grease to further protect these components from the elements.
- Apply anti-seize lubricant to threads of the shocks.
- Replace bearing and washers. Note: Bearing goes between the two washers.
- Reinstall the spring and the holding retainer. Press down locking spring into place.
Removing Your Old Shocks:
- Using a floor jack, jack the Slingshot up one side at a time, lifting it just enough to take spring pressure off the stock shock.
- Locate upper and lower shock bolts. Using 17mm and 15mm wrench to loosen the nuts and bolts. Repeat for lower bolt and nut.
- Remove bolts and take out old shocks.
Installing Your New Shocks (Front):
- Install new shocks by aligning them with the upper and lower shock mounts.
- Retorque the bolts to 34ft-lbs or 47nm.
- Once shocks are installed, use the Spanner Wrenches to set ride height. Note: Different wrenches used for both upper and lower shock adjustments. Top is adjustment, bottom locking. It is important to ensure that you have the proper spanner wrenches aligned with the grooves of the shocks.
- Using the top wrench, start by adjusting up, compressing the spring to desired ride height using a tape measure to set ride height on both sides (About 3 inches). Once done, use the lower wrench to lock adjustment into place. See photos for reference.
Rear Shock Removal:
- With the vehicle parked on a level surface, lift the vehicle so the suspension is fully extended and the rear wheel is off the ground.
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Place a support under the swing arm to keep from falling during shock removal.
- Remove the upper and lower bolts retaining the shock and remove the shock from the vehicle. Note: The Upper shock bolt can be accessed through a hole in the rear passenger storage compartment and does not require removal of the rear body panel.
Rear Shock Inspection:
With the shock in the vehicle, verify smooth compression and rebound. With the shock out of the vehicle, inspect for any leaks. The Shocks are not rebuildable, so replacement is necessary if defective.
Rear Shock Installation:
- Install the rear shock upper mounting bolt and hand tighten bolt to hold shock in place.
- Install the rear shock lower mount bolt. Torque both bolts to specification. Torque – Rear Shock Mounting Bolts: 50 lb-ft (68 Nm)
- Install the rear wheel and torque the wheel nuts to specification. Torque – Wheel Nuts: 75 lb-ft (102 Nm)

Disassembling Your New Shocks

Step 1 : Pull shocks apart by first pulling off the black retainer.

Now that your shocks are disassembled, we can move onto the Anti-Seize application part of the installation process.

Step 3 : Once shocks are installed, use the Spanner Wrenches to set ride height.
