What It Does

  • The ERV is a combined supply and exhaust ventilator. One airstream removes air from the building and exhausts it to the outdoors. The other airstream brings in air from the outdoors and supplies it to the building
  • Locating the Air Exchanger The device must be located in a place where the temperature is always above freezing. Choose a location for the device where the ducts will be situated with minimal use of elbows. This ensures that the system functions optimally.

Pressure Switch

  • The pressure switch is a 120V control that is designed to turn the Booster Fan on once the ERV has been activated.
  • Mount the pressure switch with the diagram in any vertical plane. Avoid mounting with the air tubing connections up. (See the illustration shown at right.)
  • Connect the high pressure port of pressure switch to the Supply Air duct of the ERV utilizing the tubing and grommet.

Connect wiring to pressure switch and Booster Fan as follows:

  1. A 4”x4” junction box (J-Box) is recommended for adequate space for all wiring connections.
  2. Connect the incoming electrical supply, the switch leads, and the power supply to fan as shown on the right.

Booster Fan

  • The Booster Fan is designed to overcome excess external static pressure in the exhaust airstream of the Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). 120VAC is supplied to the Booster Fan by the Pressure Switch.
