Overview
Operating the FBVH-500
Attaching and Balancing a Camera
-
Remove the balance plate by loosening the balance plate lock and then pressing the balance plate release buttonand sliding the plate out of the damp.
-
Align the camera’s guide hole with the plate’s guide pin, and attach the plate with the 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 mounting screw. If the camera doesn’t have a guide hole, the guide pin retracts so the camera will sit flush against the plate.
Note: Remove the screw you’re not using from the plate by unplugging the rubber stopper and sliding the screw out through the hole. Screw it into one of the auxiliary sockets for safekeeping. -
Once the camera is attached, loosen the balance plate lock by a half turn and slide the plate into the clamp until the plate release clicks. Snap-in Feature: Loosen the balance plate lock by a half turn and seat the edge of the balance plate against the side of the clamp with the release button. Press down the other side of the plate until it snaps into the clamp.
-
Find the proper balance for your camera by sliding the plate forward and back in the damp, and then tighten the balance plate lock until secure.
Tilt Controls
The FBVH-500 has a fixed spring-loaded counterbalance which returns the
head to a horizontal position when the handle is released. The more you
increase the tilt drag, the slower the head wll return to vertical.
- Use the tilt lock to tighten or loosen the tilting action.
- Use the tilt drag control to increase or decrease the tension.
Pan Controls
- Turn the pan lock half-turn to lock or unlock the panning motion.
- Turn the pan drag control to increase or decrease the tension.
Extra Mounts
The FBVH-500 is designed with auxliary 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded mounting
holes on opposite sides. Use them to attach accessories like articulating arms
or a double-ended spigot.
Adjusting the Handle
- Adjust the angle of the handle by loosening the arm angle lock.
- Adjust the length of the arm by loosening the handle length lock
Reversing the Handle
The FBVH-500 is equipped with rosettes on both sides of the head. The handle
is preinstalled on the right side of the head. To move the handle to the left
side, follow these steps
-
Unscrew the arm angle lock, and remove the handle from the head
-
Use a flat screwdriver or a coin to unscrew the end cap.
-
Reverse the orientation for the rosette and screw.
-
Replace the end cap, and use the arm angle lock to share the handle into the socket. When it’s properly attached, the screw and rosette should sit below the handle.
