This user manual provides useful information on adjustment, operation and maintenance

WARNINGS

Use: In the event of an allergic reaction, stop using the chair and consult your doctor
Use: Use only original VELA spare parts
Use: Only use the included charger to charge the chair
Use: Do not make any changes to the accessories that come with the chair
Use: Only use the chair for its intended purpose
Use: The chair must always be braked when sitting down or getting up from it
Use: On smooth surfaces such as highly polished floors or marble tiles, it can be felt that the chair slides. Here it is recommended to use a 4-wheel brake
Use: Never use the chair on surfaces with level differences, as there may be a risk of the chair becoming unstable
Use: Service beyond normal cleaning should always be carried out by a professional
Use: Never service the chair while it is in use
Use: Always follow the recommendations for maintenance and cleaning
Use: The chair’s functions are intended for the chair’s user. Only the user or trained professional staff should adjust the chair while the user is sitting in it
Use: Electric height adjustment must be used for a maximum of 2 minutes at a time
Use: In case of electrical failure or accidental change of height adjustment, hold both height adjustment buttons simultaneously for 10 sec.
Use: There is a risk of crushing due to moving parts. Therefore, never use the chair if the user or others are holding under the seat and below
Choking hazard: Choking hazard with small parts. Never let small children play with the chair, as small parts can come off
Choking hazard: If the chair has electric height adjustment, long cables will be present. Never let children play with these
Electrical noise: The use of cables other than those that are standard may increase the electrical radiation or reduce the electrical immunity
Electrical noise: Avoid placing the chair close to appliances that emit electrical noise
Electrical noise: The chair must only be used together with the accessories mentioned in this user manual, as electromagnetic disturbances may otherwise occur
Electrical noise: If the chair moves unintentionally or does not work as expected, find another place to put the chair

TROUBLESHOOTING

Error
- Possible cause and solution
Electric height adjustment does not work
- There is no power in the chair’s battery. Charge the battery with the included charger
Height adjustment with gas cartridge does not work
- There is too much load or an uneven load on the chair. Try adjusting the height without sitting in the chair. If this does not work, the gas cartridge is defective and should be replaced. Contact your VELA supplier
The brake does not work
- The brake is not activated. See point 2.0.9.
The arms seem loose
- The hand screw is loose either in width or height adjustment. Tighten the hand screw
The chair does not roll well
- Wheels are blocked. Clean the wheels of thread residues etc.

If the above solutions do not solve your problem, you should contact your VELA supplier.

Markings on the chair should be readable from approx. 40 cm distance in normal daylight.

SAFETY

This chair is CE marked and complies with current EU regulations.

VELA Tango 300/310 with electrical functions complies with all safety requirements according to IEC 60601-1, including requirements for EMC according to IEC60601-1-2.

INTENDED USE

This chair is intended to support a bariatric user in a sitting position, while the user performs indoor daily activities, including work activities.

All variants of the VELA Tango 300 have been tested and approved for a maximum load of 200 kg. For optimal use, the chair’s recommended user weight is 130-160 kg.
All variants of the VELA Tango 300E have been tested and approved for a maximum load of 200 kg. For optimal use, the chair’s recommended user weight is 130-175 kg.
All variants of the VELA Tango 310E have been tested and approved for a maximum load of 300 kg. For optimal use, the chair’s recommended user weight is 130-300 kg.

TRANSPORTATION

When transporting the chair by car, plane and other means of transport, you should always use the chair’s brake. The chair is not approved as a passenger seat in means of transport and must therefore not be used as such.

The chair can handle the following transport specifications:

Temperature: – 20°C to + 60°C
Humidity: 15-95%

Allow the chair to stand for 24 hours before using it if it has been stored in temperatures lower than -10°C.

CLAIMS RIGHTS

VELA grants the right of complaint according to the applicable legislation in the country where the chair is delivered. The right to complain only applies to the use of original spare parts and accessories, as well as adaptations carried out by professionals.

Note: if a special contract agreement has been entered into directly with VELA, this applies!

VELA does not assume responsibility for damage to the product or the user that has occurred due to:

UNPACKING THE CHAIR

The chair is delivered in environmentally friendly and reusable packaging.
If the chair is missing or damaged during transport, please contact your VELA supplier immediately. In such cases, you must not attempt to repair any damage yourself or use the chair.

MAINTENANCE

We recommend an annual inspection of the chair to find, for example, defective and worn parts.
You should tighten all adjustable parts yourself regularly. Various guides are available at www.vermundlarsen.no.

WHEEL

It is recommended to check the wheels and clean them of any wire residues etc. regularly.

CARE

Clean with lukewarm water to which a pH-neutral soap may have been added.

UPHOLSTERY SURFACES

Fabric: Clean by chemical cleaning, with furniture cleaner or a well-wrung cloth with water.
Plastic/artificial leather: Clean with a well-wrung cloth with water or mild soap.
Leather: Cleaned by vacuuming with a soft brush. Avoid using cleaning agents.

RECYCLING AID

Your VELA chair can be reused when you no longer need it, if it is serviced by a technician first.
The expected lifespan of the chair is 5 years with normal and correct use. We recommend that VELA, your VELA supplier or trained specialist staff carry out annual inspections with possible replacement of wearing parts.

RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL

This product contains materials that can be reused. Therefore, the product must be disposed of in accordance with local legislation and not together with normal household waste. Correct disposal and reuse help prevent negative impacts on the environment and people.

Note: Electrical and electronic equipment and accompanying batteries contain materials, components and substances that can be harmful to human health and the environment if the waste is not handled correctly.

Electrical and electronic equipment and batteries are marked with the icon below. This symbolizes that electrical and electronic equipment and batteries must not be disposed of together with unsorted household waste, but must be delivered separately.

Disposal: It is important that you deliver your used batteries to the arrangements that have been established. In this way, you are helping to ensure that the batteries are recycled in accordance with the legislation and do not put an unnecessary burden on the environment.

Gas spring and electric lift must only be replaced by a technician from VELA or by a person with experience in this field the field.

Using And Installation Instructions

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT (EL)*
- Can be operated by pressing the button on the side of the right or left armrest.
- Note: VELA Tango El is also available with height adjustment via the hand control (see 2.0.3.).
ADJUSTMENT OF HEIGHT (THROTTLE)*
- Can be adjusted by pulling up the handle under the armrest on the right page.
HAND CONTROL (EL)*
- The hand control is used to adjust the height of the chair via press studs at the front.
SEAT DEPTH ADJUSTMENT
- Adjust the seat depth by loosening the two Unbrako screws below the seat (next to the backrest), on which you can press back and forth. Remember to tighten the Unbrako screws properly after the seat depth has been adjusted.
ADJUSTMENT OF BACK ANGLE
- The backrest is angled by loosening the small screw on the backrest bolt, whereupon the back can be adjusted to the desired angle. remember that tighten the bolt properly when the correct angle is achieved.
ADJUSTMENT OF BACK HEIGHT
- Adjust the back height by loosening the four screws on the back of the backrest. When these are loose, the back height can be adjusted. Remember to tighten the Unbrako screws properly.
ADJUSTMENT OF ARMREST HEIGHT
- Adjust the height by loosening both screws under the armrest and adjust the height of the armrests. Remember to tighten the screws properly.
ARMREST WIDTH ADJUSTMENT
- Adjust by loosening both screws under the seat. Remember to retighten the screws properly.
- Note: The armrests can only be adjusted up to the red stop mark
BRAKE*
- You brake the VELA Tango by moving the handle on the side of the chair forwards. Unlock the chair by returning the handle to the upright position position
- Note: The chair is also available with the brake mounted on the right or left side.
CHARGING (EL)*
- Daily charging is recommended. You charge the chair by inserting the charging plug in a charging socket located by the armrest under the seat on the right side. A diode will light up yellow when the chair is charging, and green when the chair is charged.
- Note: The chair must not be used while charging.
SLIDING BRACKET*
- Push bar for passenger transport in the chair. The push bar is installed on the top back clip.
ELECTRIC BRAKE (EL)*
- VELA Tango with electric brake is braked and unlocked with hand control. It is recommended to brake / unlock the chair completely when this function is in use.
- Note: This brake can only be used with contacts on hand control.
4-WHEEL BRAKE*
- Can be activated with handbrake/footbrake on all chairs but via handbox or contacts on chairs with electric brake. It brakes the chair on all wheels and provides a stable chair on uneven surfaces.
- Note: With electricity, it is recommended to brake/unlock the chair completely when the function is used.
