Important Safety Instructions
Read these instructions carefully and retain them for future use. If this product is passed to a third party, then these instructions must be included.
When using electrical products, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons including the following:
- This product contains no user serviceable parts and requires little maintenance. Leave any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel only.
- Do not attempt to repair the product yourself. In case of malfunction, repairs are to be conducted by qualified personnel only.
- Do not open the product housing. Do not insert any foreign objects into the inside of the housing.
Battery Warnings
Danger Risk of explosion!
Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Warning KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
Swallowing can lead to chemical burns, perforation of soft tissue, and death.
Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestion. Seek medical attention
immediately.
- Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Especially keep batteries which are considered swallowob/e out of the reach of children. In 1:ose of ingestion of a cell or battery, seek medico/ assistance promptly.
- Do not allow children tc, replace batteries without adult supervision.
- Always insert batteries ,correctly with regard to polarity(+ and -I martced on the battery and the equipment. Batteries which are lnco”ectly placed Into equipment may be short-drcuited, or charged. This can result in a rapid tempetauu« rise causing venting, leakage and explosion and may cause personal injury.
- Do not short-circuit batteries. When the positive(+) and negative(·) terminals of a battery are in electrical contact with each other, the battery becomes short circuited. For example lo<>se batteries in a pocket with keys or coins, can be shott-circuited. This can result in venting. leakage, explosion, fire and personal injury.
- Do not charge batteries .. Attempting to charge o non rechorgeob/e (primary) b,ntery con cause internal gas and/or heat generation r!sulting in leakage, venting, explosion, fire and personal injury.
- Do not force discharge batteries. When batteries are force discharged by means of an external power source, the voltage of the battery will be forced below its design capability and gases will be generated inside the battery.
- This con result in leakage; venting, explosion, fire and personal injury.
- Exhausted batteries should be immediately removed from equipment and pmperly disposed of. When discharged batteries ore kept in the equipment for o long time electrolyte leakage can occur causing damage to the equipment and/or persor.,al injury.
- Do not expose batteries to heat. When a battery is exposed to heat venting, leakage and explosion may occur and cause personal injury.
- Do not weld or solder directly to batteries. The heat from welding or so/derin!I directly to o battery may cause internal short-circuiting l’esulting in venting, leakage and explosion and may cause personal injury.
- Do not dismantle batteries. When a battery is dismantled or token apart, contact with the components con be harmful and con co11se personal injury or fire.
- Do not deform batteries. llotteries should not be crushed, punctured, or othE•rwise mutilated. Such abuse con cause leakage, venting, explosion or fire and con cause personal injury.
- Do not dispose of batteries In fire. When batteries ore disposed af in fire, the heat build-up con cause explosion and/or fire and personal inj’ury. Do not incinerate batteries except for opprov11d disposal in o controlled incinerator.
- A lithium battery with a damaged container should not be exposed to water. Lithium metal in contact with water con produce hydrogen gos, fire, explosion and/or cause personal injury.
- Do not encapsulate and/or modify batteries. Encapsulation, or any other modification to a battery, may result in blockage of the pressure relief vent mechonism(s) and/or prevent removal of hydrogen gos generated in the batteries.
- This may lead to explosion and personal injury. Advice from the battery manufacturer should be sought if it is considered necessary to make any modification.
- Store unused batteries in their origin.ii packaging away from metal objects. H already unpacked, do not mix or jumble batteries. IJ’npacked batteries could get jumbled or get mixed with metal objects such as keys, coins, etc. This con cause b11ttery short-circuiting which con result in leakage, venting, explosion or fire, and personal injury. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to store unumf batteries in their original packaging.
- Remove batteries from equipment if it is not to be used for an extended pe,riod of time- unless it Is for emergency purposes.. it is advantageous to remove batteries immediately irom equipment which hos ceased to function satisfactorily. or when a long period of disuse is anticipated (e.g. portol1le lighting, toys). Although most batteries on the market today are provided with protective jackets or otner meons to amtain leakage, a battery that hos been partially or completely exhausted may be more prone to leak than one that is unused.
- When incorporating a primary lithium battery into a memory back-up circuit protective measures should be used to prevent the main power source from charging the battery. One method that has been shown to be effective is illustrated below.
- Connecting cells/batteri, is in parallel could result in charging one of the cells and cause leakage and potential cell rupture. Diode protection may be required depending upon the cell type. Device designers should contact the manufacturer for guidance.
