Product Usage Instructions
Step 1: Power Connection
- Connect the power adapter to the DC 20V port on the back of the dock.
- Connect the power cable to the power adapter.
- Plug the power cable into a wall outlet.
Step 2: Front Ports
The front of the dock features:
- One USB-C 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps (5V/1.5A) port for connecting external hard drives.
- One USB-C 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps (5V/0.9A) port for connecting thumb drives.
- One combo audio jack for connecting headsets.
Step 3: Host Connection
Choose one of the following options based on your host laptop:
- Option 3a: USB-C Host Connect the end of the USB-C cable without the screw lock connector to a USB-C port on the host laptop. This will provide power, video, and data capabilities.
- Option 3b: USB-A Host Connect the USB-A adapter attached to the USB-C cable to the USB-A port on the host laptop. Then connect the USB-C cable to the USB-A adapter. This will provide video and data capabilities.
Step 4: Secure Host Connection
Connect the end of the USB-C host cable with the screw lock connector to the USB-C host port on the back of the dock. Twist the screw lock connector to the right to align it with the lock slot on the dock.
Step 5: Video Connection
Follow the specifications below based on your host laptop:
- Option a: Hosts with DP1.2++(HBR2) and USB-C Alt Mode
- Connect the first external monitor via Alt Mode to the top left DP++ port for 1920×1080 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the second external monitor via Alt Mode to the bottom left HDMI port for 1920×1080 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the third external monitor via DisplayLink to the middle DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the fourth external monitor via DisplayLink to the right DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Option b: Hosts with DP1.4++(HBR3) and USB-C Alt Mode
- Connect the first external monitor via Alt Mode to the top left DP++ port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz with DSC on.
- Connect the second external monitor via Alt Mode to the bottom left HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz with DSC on.
- Connect the third external monitor via DisplayLink to the middle DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the fourth external monitor via DisplayLink to the right DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Option c: MacBook M1/M2 Pro/Max Host
- Connect the first external monitor via Alt Mode to the left DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the second external monitor via DisplayLink to the middle DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the third external monitor via DisplayLink to the right DP++ or HDMI port for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Option d: Host with DP1.2++ and USB-C without Alt Mode or DP1.2++ and USB-A
- Connect the first external monitor to the middle DP++ or HDMI port via DisplayLink for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
- Connect the second external monitor to the right DP++ or HDMI port via DisplayLink for 3840×2160 @ 60Hz.
Step 6: Software Installation
If using Windows 10, macOS, or Chrome OS:
- Visit www.kensington.com/software to download the optional Kensington DockWorks software.
- Visit www.displaylink.com/downloads to download the DisplayLink driver required for this dock.
