LED Voltmeter
INTRODUCTION
- Thank you for purchasing the MFJ-1118D High Current Multiple DC Outlet with Digital LED Voltmeter. The MFJ-1118D is very versatile in allowing you to channel power to two HF or VHF radios and as many as six different ham radio accessories at the same time. The MFJ-1118D alleviates the problem of multiple connections to the same DC power supply terminals.
- The MFJ-1118D has six sets of binding posts for station accessories. Affront mounted rocker switch controls power to these outlets. A 15 amp master fuse protects your accessories and an LED indicates when the power is switched on to them. The MFJ-1118D also has two pairs of Heavy-duty binding posts which are individually fused to 35 amps. The fuses are accessed through the back of the unit. The Digital LED Voltmeter monitors output voltage from your power supply and an LED also indicates “ON”. All connections are RF bypassed to reduce line noise.
POWER RATING
- The unswitched binding posts on the MFJ-1118D can handle up to 35 amps each but should not carry a combined total of over 35 amps. The switched accessory outlets can handle five amps each but should not carry a combined total of over 15 amps. It is the operator’s responsibility to ensure that the equipment connected to the MFJ-1118D falls within these power ratings.
- The MFJ-1118D cannot be used for AC applications. It does not regulate voltage or power in any way. The output to equipment is dependent on the power supply output. The Digital LED Voltmeter requires about 3.5VDC to come on and display output voltage.
- All other functions will still work at lower voltages, but the display will go to sleep.
INSTALLATION
Connect the two leads of the MFJ-1118D to your DC power supply. The red (+) cable should be connected to the positive (+) terminal and the black (-) cable should be connected to the negative (-) terminal of the power supply. A ground wire should be connected from the station ground bus to the ground terminal on the case of the MFJ-1118D. Due to the high current involved, the ground wire should be of appropriate length and gauge for safety to equipment and the operator. If you desire, two mounting holes, one on each end, are provided for securing your MFJ-1118D to your station. Holes are 1/8” (4mm) in diameter.
