LB1YM SimPad PLUS 2 and Link Box PLUS

Read these instructions thoroughly before connecting the equipment to the power source. Observe all warnings, precautions and instructions on the SimPad PLUS 2, in the User Guide and in this Important Product Information booklet. Retain this booklet for future reference.
Warnings and Cautions
A Warning states a condition, hazard, or unsafe practice that can result in serious personal injury or death.
A Caution states a condition, hazard, or unsafe practice that can result in minor personal injury or damage to the product.
Note
A note states important information about the product or it’s operation.

Operating Conditions

Water and Moisture
Cautions

  • Do not operate the device under or near water – for example near a bathtub, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool or in other areas with high humidity.
  • Never install jacks for communication cables in wet locations.
  • Do not operate the product with wet hands.

Lightning
Warning
Never use this device, or connect/disconnect communication cables or power cables during lightning storms.
Dust
Caution
Do not operate the device in areas with a high concentration of dust.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Unplug the device from communication lines, mains power outlet or any power source before cleaning or polishing.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water for cleaning the exterior of the device.

Servicing
Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Warning
Do not attempt to service the device yourself.
Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other hazards, and will void the warranty.
WiFi Connections
Please ensure that your settings of the device adhere to any regional restrictions on the use of WiFi channels. Channels 12 and 13 will not work on both the SimPad PLUS 2 and the Link Box PLUS.

Accessories

  • Use only accessories specified by the manufacturer or sold with the apparatus.
  • Do not use the RJ-45 as a telephone line connection.

Internal Battery Pack in SimPad PLUS 2
Warnings

  • Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, or short external contacts and do not allow metal objects to come into contact with the battery terminals.
  • Do not try to repair the battery; it may cause an explosion.
  • Do not incinerate or dispose of in fire, the battery may explode or release toxic materials.
  • Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
  • If the internal battery pack in SimPad PLUS 2 is mishandled, it can burst, cause a fire or even chemical burns.

Cautions

  • Use only the SimPad battery with SimPad PLUS 2.
  • Do not expose to high temperatures, such as in direct sunlight or in a car parked in the sun.
  • Only charge SimPad PLUS 2 using the supplied battery charger or a recommended charging device that can charge the battery.
  • Dispose of used battery pack promptly and according to local legislations.
  • Do not dispose of in water.

Power Connection and Hazardous Voltage

Warnings

  • The product or its accessories may have a hazardous voltage inside.
  • Always power the product from an earthed power outlet.
  • If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician.

Cautions

  • Never attempt to open this product, or any peripherals connected to it, if this action requires a tool.
  • If any parts of the product have visual damage, never attempt to connect main power, or any other power source, before consulting service personnel.
  • Route the power cord to avoid it being walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against it. Pay particular attention to the plugs, receptacles and the point where the cord exits from the device.
  • Do not tug the power cord.

US
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Statement
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

  1. This device may not cause harmful interference.

Cautions

  • This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
  • Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

The use of shielded I/O cables is required when connecting this equipment to any and all optional peripheral or host devices. Failure to do so may violate FCC rules.
RF Exposure warning
This equipment must be installed and operated in accordance with provided instructions and the antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be colocated or operating in conjunction with any otherantenna or transmitter. End-users and installers must be provide with antenna installation instructions and transmitter operating conditions for satisfying RF exposure compliance.

Notes

  • The country code selection is for non-US models only and is not available to all US models. Per FCC regulation, all WiFi products marketed in US must be fixed to US operation channels only.
  • Changes or modifications not covered in this manual must be approved in writing by the manufacturer’s Regulatory Engineering Department. Changes or modifications made without written approval may void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.

Industry Canada Rules
This device contains licence-exempt transmitter(s)/receiver(s) that comply with Innovation, Science and Economic Devel- opment Canada’s licence-exempt RSS(s).
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

  1. This device may not cause interference.
  2. This device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.

Cautions for WLAN 5GHZ Device:

  • The device for operation in the band 5150-5250 MHz is only for indoor use to reduce the potential for harmful interference to co-channel mobile satellite systems.
  • The maximum antenna gain permitted for devices in the bands 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5725 MHz shall comply with the e.i.r.p. limit.
  • The maximum antenna gain permitted for devices in the band 5725-5850 MHz shall comply with the e.i.r.p. limits specified for point-to-point and non point-to-point operation as appropriate.
  • The worst-case tilt angle(s) necessary to remain compliant with the e.i.r.p. elevation mask requirement set forth in Section 6.2.2(3) shall be clearly indicated.
  • Users should also be advised that highpower radars are allocated as primary users (i.e. priority users) of the bands 5250-5350 MHz and 5650-5850 MHz and that these radars could cause interference and/or damage to LE-LAN devices.
