Installation Requirements:
-
The installation must conform to local, state, provincial, and
national codes. In any case where instructions conflict with the
above, let those codes take precedence. -
This is a basic piping schematic. Please consult the
installation manual for detailed instructions. -
Install a safety valve (temperature & pressure) on the
domestic hot water line, as close as possible to the hot water
heater(s) connection(s) and before any shut-off valve. -
Pipe all the safety valves and drain valves to the drain or
accordingly to the code. -
If a backflow preventer, water meter, or a pressure reducing
valve is used on the domestic cold water supply line, then a
thermal expansion tank must be installed between the water heater
and this device. -
Note that the drawing provided is not to scale.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What are the requirements for installation?
A: The installation must conform to local, state, provincial,
and national codes. Please consult the installation manual for
specific requirements.
Q: What is the purpose of the safety valve?
A: The safety valve (temperature & pressure) ensures that
the domestic hot water line is protected from excessive temperature
and pressure.
Q: When should a thermal expansion tank be installed?
A: A thermal expansion tank should be installed between the
water heater and a backflow preventer, water meter, or pressure
reducing valve on the domestic cold water supply line.
