Product Information

The ASUS ZenWiFi XD4 Plus is an AX1800 Dual Band WiFi Router. It is designed to provide a reliable and high-speed internet connection for your home or office. With the AiMesh feature, you can create a seamless mesh network by connecting multiple ZenWiFi XD4 Plus routers together. This ensures a strong and consistent WiFi signal throughout your entire space.

Product Usage Instructions

Before Setup:

1. Find three ZenWiFi XD4 Plus routers and power them on.
2. Use a network cable to connect your modem to the WAN port of one XD4 Plus router. This router will be the AiMesh router, and the other two routers will be the AiMesh nodes.
3. The LED on the routers will turn solid blue to indicate that they are ready for setup.

ASUS Router App:
To set up and manage your router(s), download the free ASUS Router App from your app store.

Hardware Explanations:

• Plug the adapter into the DCIN port of the router.
• The power LED will light up when your hardware is ready.

XD4 Plus Overview:

• LAN port: Connect your PC to a LAN port with a network cable.
• DCIN port: Plug the adapter into this port.
• WAN/LAN port: Connect your modem to this port with a network cable.

AiMesh Setup Steps:

1. Prepare: Place your AiMesh router and nodes in the same room and at least 1 meter apart during the setup process.
2. AiMesh node: Keep your AiMesh nodes powered on and standby for AiMesh system settings.
3. Launching ASUS Router App: Launch the ASUS Router App and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the AiMesh setup.

Troubleshooting:
If your AiMesh router cannot find any AiMesh nodes nearby or synchronization fails, please try the following:

• Move your AiMesh nodes closer to the AiMesh router, ideally within 3 meters.
• Ensure that your AiMesh nodes are powered on.

Relocation for Best Performance:
To achieve the best performance, locate the AiMesh router and node at the optimal place. You can wall-mount the ZenWiFi XD4 Plus using the attached anchor and screws.

ZenWiFi XD4 Plus LED Indications:

• Solid blue: Your ZenWiFi XD4 Plus is ready for setup.
• Solid white: Your ZenWiFi XD4 Plus is online and works well.
• Solid yellow: The signal between your ZenWiFi XD4 Plus router and the node is weak.
• Solid red: Your ZenWiFi XD4 Plus router has no Internet connection or your node is disconnected from the router.

IMPORTANT: Do not install the equipment on the ceiling or mount it higher than 2 meters. It is recommended to use the attached anchor and screws. The ASUS logo can be installed facing up or down, depending on the placement of your modem.

• Q1: Does the AiMesh router support Access Point mode?
• A: Yes. You can choose to set the AiMesh router as router mode or access point mode. Please go to web GUI (http://router.asus.com), and go to the page Administration > Operation Mode.
• Q2: Could I set up a wired connection between AiMesh routers (Ethernet backhaul)?
• A: Yes. AiMesh system supports both wireless and wired connections between AiMesh router and node to maximize throughput and stability. AiMesh analyzes the wireless signal strength for each frequency band available and then determines automatically whether a wireless or wired connection is best to serve as the inter-router connection backbone.

Before Setup

Preparing to set up an AiMesh WiFi system

1. Find three ZenWiFi XD4 Plus, and power them on.

• Move your AiMesh nodes closer to the AiMesh router ideally. Ensure that it is within 3 meters.

Does the AiMesh router support Access Point mode?

Could I set up a wired connection between AiMesh routers (Ethernet backhaul)?
AiMesh system supports both wireless and wired connections between AiMesh router and node to maximize throughput and stability. AiMesh analyzes the wireless signal strength for each frequency band available and then determines automatically whether a wireless or wired connection is best to serve as the inter-router connection backbone.

1. Follow the setup steps to establish a connection between the AiMesh router and node via WiFi first.
2. Place the node in the ideal locations for best coverage. Run an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the AiMesh router to the WAN port of the AiMesh node.
3. AiMesh system will auto-select the best path for data transmission, whether wired or wireless.
