Description
It is a wireless control unit for LED and halogen drivers with DALI dimming
interface .
The control output has different operating modes, which are delivered pre-
configured by RZB.
Function modes:
DALI Broadcast
RGB DT6 (Device Type 6)
RGBW DT8 (Device Type 8)
Tunable White DT8 (2700K-6500K)
1-channel pushbutton coupler
The device is also designed for integration in a luminaire.
Attention: The control unit does not comply with IEC 60929 and therefore it is
not designed to be connected to an existing DALI network. The control unit can
be used only in a closed system, i.e. as a part of a luminaire, which is not
connected to an external DALI network.
The control unit is operated wirelessly via smartphone or tablet using the
Casambi app and Bluetooth 4.0 protocol. The Casambi app supports Android (from
4.4) and Apple (from iOS 8.2) devices and can be downloaded free of charge
from Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The control units form a wireless mesh network automatically so that a large
number of fixtures (max. 127) can be controlled from any point. No external
gateway or Wireless LAN Network module are needed.
The control unit can be operated also from a standard on/off wall switches.
Installation
Make sure that the mains voltage is switched off when making any connections.
Use 0,75 – 1,5 mm solid or stranded conductor electrical wires. Strip the wire
6-7 mm from the end.
When using flexible cables, ferrules must be used.
Insert the wires to the corresponding holes and tighten the connector screw.
Make sure to connect the input and outputs correctly. Mains input connector is
marked with letters L and N with an arrow pointing inwards, while the mains
output connector is marked with letters L and N with an arrow pointing
outwards. The DALI output is marked with + and – symbols.
If you install the control unit in a warm environment (i.e. inside a luminaire
or in a ceiling outlet box above a luminaire), make sure that the ambient
temperature does not exceed the specified maximum value.

Reichweite
Casambi uses mesh network technology so each control unit acts also as a repeater. Longer ranges can be achieved by using multiple Casambi units.
Compatible devices:
iPhone or iPad (from iOS 8.2),
Android ( from 4.4)
with full Bluetooth 4.0 support
1Range is highly dependant on the surrounding and obstacles, such as walls and
building materials.
The coverage of the radio signal depends on the environment, e.g. on
luminaire, building construction, furniture or people and must be tested and
approved in the installation.
To ensure a good radio connection, the control unit must not be completely
covered with metal!
Placement in a luminaire
The control unit has an integrated antenna for easy application.
To optimize the coverage in each direction, some design guidelines should be
followed when installing the device.
The antenna is located at the corner of the housing. It is located at the
bottom of the printed circuit board, directly above the bottom of the device.
The control unit has some large components on the top of the circuit board.
So if you mount the antenna at the bottom, the other components have the least
possible impact on the antenna performance.
If the device is mounted on a metal plate (for example on the frame of a
luminaire), the radio signal can be permanently disturbed.
In this case, under certain circumstances, a cut below the antenna is required
so that the radio signal can exit the structure.
The cut-out area should be as large as possible.
Also, the device should be placed as far away as possible from vertical metal
structures.
Dimming without app, via light switch
- Turn lights on from a wall switch.
- Quickly flick the wall switch off (max.1 sec.) and back on. The light level starts to increase gradually.
- Flick the switch again at desired dim level. The selected level is saved automatically.
