Installation Instructions

Kit includes:

1x Web Plate
1x F1 Flange

14 x 1.5” Torx Structural Fasteners

1x) 3/16” Pilot Drill Bit
1x) Torx T25 Driver

Details:

Skyline Notch Reinforcers when installed according to instructions are designed to restore the full strength of dimensional lumber joists assuming the following:

• Maximum floor dead load is 12psf and maximum live load is 40psf (PSF = Pounds per square foot).
• The Notch width does not exceed 6” and at least 1.5” of material remain opposite the open side of the Notch.
• The joist spacing is 16” on center or less (if greater that 16” o.c. The Notch Reinforcer is still beneficial and may restore full strength to the Joist depending on the length of the joist span (Please contact us for further information).
• The Joist span is in accordance with good engineering practices and/or tables provided in the building code.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
a) Skyline HR and NR Hole and Notch Reinforcers may be used on 2×12’s.
b) For installation with Flange against the underside of the floor, though not required, fasteners may be installed to secure the flange to the floor above for additional compression support. Fasteners are not provided for this.

Installation Instructions

1. Center Web Plate on Joist Notch and aligned with the top of the Joist and mark all hole locations.
2. Construction adhesive is not necessary but does increase repair strength.
3. Pre-drill all marked hole locations using the provided 3/16” drill bit. Drill holes as straight as possible to minimize stress on the head of the fasteners.
4. Align Web Plate with holes and fasten in place starting from the bottom up using the provided fasteners. Leave the last staggered row of holes for the F2 Flange.
5. Install the F2 Flange over the Web Plate using the last row of staggered holes and remaining fasteners.
6. Depending on Notch orientation additional fasteners may be used to attach the top of the F2 Flange to substrate. If so, pre-drill holes and attach (Fasteners for this are not included).
