  • Odor: Intermittent odor may occur during ventilation activities to ensure the safety of the crews working in confined spaces.
  • Tree and Vegetation Removal: Some trees and vegetation will be removed to allow access to the existing sewer pipe. Efforts have been made to minimize removal, and activities will be monitored and approved by a qualified Arborist and a Fauna Spotter.

What’s happening

Our delivery partner, Downer WSP, and their subcontractors will soon commence essential works to repair and upgrade the sewer pipe in your area, that was impacted by the February 2022 flood event. Construction will take place near Enoggera Creek in Pender Street Park, along Pender Street, The Gap. Work will start from Monday 6 November 2023 and take up to three months to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.

What to expect

  • Noise/dust – residents may experience varying levels of noise and dust from construction machinery and changed vehicle movements. We’ll minimize these where we can.
  • Hours – We’ll be working during the day, between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday work. Construction is anticipated to take place for up to three months (weather and site conditions permitting).

  • A temporary work site and holding area for pipe, materials, and machinery will be located in Pender Street Park, near Pender Street, Kenmore. Downer WSP will install barriers and signage around work areas to keep everyone safe.
  • Sewer services – this work will not affect your service. Sewage may need to be re-directed away from the work site using tanker trucks or bypass piping. We will notify impacted customers before any of these activities take place.
  • Odour – some intermittent odour may occur during ventilation activities. This is required to ensure the safety of crews working in confined spaces.
  • Tree and vegetation removal – we understand local parks and resident fauna and flora are highly valued by the community. To allow for these essential works, there will be tree and vegetation removal to allow for access to the existing sewer pipe.
  • We have made every effort to minimize tree and vegetation removal where possible. Any trees/shrubs marked for removal in the work area will be removed per Brisbane City Council and State Government requirements and activities will be monitored and approved by a qualified Arborist and a Fauna Spotter.
  • Restoration – we will restore all work areas as close to the original condition as possible, once the work is complete.
