Interpreting Signals:
When using the metal detector, it is important to understand how to interpret signals to identify detected objects.

  • A continuous beep or a strong signal indicates the presence of a metal object.
  • A broken or intermittent beep may indicate a smaller or partially buried object.
  • No signal or a weak signal suggests the absence of a metal object in the immediate area.

Troubleshooting:

Issue: Metal detector beeping but nothing found
If your metal detector keeps beeping even when there’s seemingly nothing to detect, consider the following:

  1. Avoid interference objects such as electronic devices and other metal detectors by maintaining a distance of at least 10 meters.
  2. If the sensitivity is set to the highest level, try reducing it and observe if the issue persists.
  3. For beach detection, immerse the search coil in seawater before turning on the metal detector to balance its state in a saltwater environment.
  4. In areas with no metal, move the coil in the sea without sending a signal to initiate detection. This technique also applies to other interference environments like wet sand and wet grass.
  5. Check the battery power and carry spare batteries for uninterrupted detection.

Issue: Detector not picking up ring or necklace
If your metal detector is unable to detect your ring or necklace, consider the following:

  1. Ensure that the ring and necklace are made of detectable metals. Certain alloys may not be detected depending on the metal detector’s settings and capabilities.
  2. Move the search coil horizontally at a constant speed multiple times to increase the chances of detection, especially for smaller objects.
  3. If using DISC mode, check the discrimination setting to ensure it does not exclude the type of metal present in your ring or necklace.
  4. Test the metal detector in a different location to rule out interference from electronic devices, power lines, or mineral content in the ground.
  5. Verify that the search coil is securely attached and undamaged, with no visible damage to its connecting cable.
  6. Check the battery level and replace it if necessary, as a low battery can affect the detector’s performance.

Issue: Detector not picking up gold
If your metal detector is not detecting gold, consider the following:

  1. High discrimination settings can filter out gold signals. Reduce the discrimination setting to increase the chances of detecting gold, even if it means more false signals from iron and other junk targets.
  2. Consider using the Memory Mode, which is recommended for gold detection.

FAQ:

Why does my metal detector keep beeping but nothing’s found?
If your metal detector keeps beeping even when there’s seemingly nothing to detect, it could be due to various reasons:

  • Small metal fragments or bits of foil that are difficult to spot even after digging.
  • Battery level: Some detectors may behave erratically when the battery level is low. Always ensure you have a full charge or fresh batteries when going out.

Why does my detector not pick up my ring or necklace?
If your metal detector is not picking up your ring or necklace, consider the following:

  • Ensure that the ring and necklace are made of detectable metals. Some alloys may not be detected depending on the metal detector’s settings and capabilities.
  • Larger search coils can sometimes miss smaller objects right under them due to their ‘dead spot’. Move the coil horizontally at a constant speed multiple times to increase detection chances.
  • Check for interference from other electronic devices, power lines, or mineral content in the ground. Test the metal detector in a different location.
  • Ensure the search coil is securely attached and undamaged, with no visible damage to its connecting cable.
  • Check the battery level and replace if necessary, as a low battery can affect a detector’s performance.

Why does my detector not pick up gold?
If your metal detector is not picking up gold, consider the following:

  • High discrimination settings can filter out gold signals. Reduce the discrimination setting to increase detection chances, even if it means more false signals from iron and other junk targets.
  • Consider using the Memory Mode, which is recommended for gold detection.

This Metal Detector FAQ and Tips guide provides helpful information when you first use a metal detector, to understand how to interpret signals and properly use your equipment.

Why does my metal detector keep beeping but nothing’s found

If your metal detector keeps beeping even when there’s seemingly nothing to detect, there could be several reasons:

  • Mineralized Soil: Some soils contain minerals like iron which can cause interference with the detector. This interference may cause the detector to emit false signals or constant beeping.
  • Saltwater: If you’re detecting on a saltwater beach, the salt can cause false signals, especially in wet sand areas.
  • Electrical Interference: Other electronic devices, overhead power lines, or even other metal detectors can cause electrical interference, leading to false signals.
  • Settings: Your sensitivity setting might be too high. If the sensitivity is set at the maximum level, the detector might pick up even minor disturbances, leading to false signals.
  • Small Targets: You may be detecting very small metal fragments or bits of foil that are difficult to spot even after digging.
  • Battery Level: Some detectors may behave erratically when the battery level is low. Always ensure you have a full charge or fresh batteries when going out detecting.

Here are some advice to help you resolve this issue:

  1. Please stay away from interference objects such as electronic devices and at least 10 meters away from other metal detectors.
  2. If the sensitivity is at its highest, try reducing the sensitivity and see if that helps.
  3. If you are detecting on the beach, it is recommended that you first immerse the search coil in seawater and then turn on the metal detector. This can balance the state of the metal detector in the saltwater environment and reduce interference to the detector on the beach.
  4. In areas where there is definitely no metal, the coil moves in the sea without sending a signal, and the detection can begin. Likewise, detection in other interference environments is also solved in this way, such as wet sand and wet grass.
  5. Pay attention to the power of the battery. It is recommended that you carry spare batteries when going out detecting.

Why my detector does not pick up my ring or necklace

  1. Please ensure that the ring and necklace are made of detectable metals. While most jewelry (like gold and silver) should be detectable, some materials, such as certain alloys may not be detected depending on the metal detector’s settings and capabilities.
  2. Larger search coils can sometimes miss smaller objects right under them because of their ‘dead spot’. It is recommended that you move the coil horizontally at a constant speed multiple times to detect.
  3. If you are using DISC mode, please ensure that the discrimination setting isn’t set to exclude the type of metal in your ring or necklace.
  4. There might be interference from other electronic devices, power lines, or even from the mineral content in the ground. Test your metal detector in a different location and ensure there are no nearby electronic devices that could be causing interference.
  5. The search coil might not be connected properly. Ensure that the coil is securely attached and that there’s no visible damage to it or its connecting cable.
  6. A low battery can affect a detector’s performance. Check the battery level and replace it if necessary.

If after checking all these factors you still cannot detect your ring or necklace, please contact us at any time and we will help you check and resolve the issue.

Why my detector does not pick up gold

  1. High discrimination settings can filter out gold signals. It is suggested to reduce the discrimination setting. While this might mean more false signals from iron and other junk targets, it’ll increase your chances of detecting gold.
  2. It is recommended to use the Memory Mode.
  3. Here’s how to do it:
    • Switch to memory mode
    • Scan the gold you want to find
    • After it memorizes the metal, you can start to detect it.
  4. If sensitivity is set too low, you might miss gold items. Increase the sensitivity setting on your detector. However, be cautious, as high sensitivity can also lead to more false signals, especially in mineralized ground.
  5. Moving too quickly or not overlapping sweeps can cause you to miss targets. Ensure you’re sweeping the coil in a methodical, overlapping manner and moving at a steady pace.

What are the Target ID numbers of gold

The reading of gold is between 40-90. The higher the purity, the higher the reading. If you want to detect gold only, you can use the Memory Mode to scan the gold before detecting it, then you can detect the same gold.

Why are there scratches on the screen when I just opened the package

(For metal detector MTXR and MTXE)
There is actually a transparent protective film on the screen of the control box to protect the screen from being scratched during packaging and transportation.

See the picture below. You can tear the film off to see if the screen itself is intact. If the screen itself gets scratched, please send a photo showing the problem with the screen to the following email address support@drotekor.com We will provide you with a satisfactory solution within 12 hours.

How to fit the arm bracket to the stem

(For metal detector MTXR)
There is a separate small stem that needs to be installed into the top of the upper stem. Then the arm bracket should be inserted into the small stem. See the picture of assembly steps below.
