BOSCH UL 2849 eBike Systems
**User Guide**
We take safety seriously
While many brands certify only their batteries, Bosch certifies its entire
electrical system to the rigorous UL 2849
safety standard. Additionally, all batteries are certified to UL 2271. The
benefit of system-level testing and certification is to provide protection and
the peace of mind that goes with it.
What is UL 2849?
Certification of the complete electrical system of an eBike to UL 2849
safety standard means that all parts of the system have been evaluated, tested
and confirmed to meet the safety criteria’s set in the standard to reduce risk
and hazards.
Peace of Mind
Bosch reduces battery pack risk by combining safety features:
-
The Battery Management System (BMS) continuously monitors the battery, detects potential fault sources and protects the cells from overloading.
If the system detects a problem, such as excessive temperature, it automatically shuts down the battery. -
Mechanical, electrical and thermal isolation of battery cells
-
Sealed battery enclosures to prevent water and dust entry
-
Automation in production
Ask about certification
When considering an eBike purchase, ask for confirmation that the complete electrical system of that eBike is certified to UL 2849. A certification logo for our complete eBike electrical system can be found on our battery packs.
