Materials:
Needles: Size US 6 16” circular needles
Size US 6 double-point needles (DPNs)
Yarn: 200‑250 yards of any yarn from the Knots of Love’s
Guidelines for Knitters and Knotters (knotsoflove.org).
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle

Instructions:

Using long-tail cast-on method, cast on 90 sts. Place stitch marker and join in the round being careful not to twist cast-on stitches at the join.
Rib:
(K1, P1) around until the rib is 2” in length.
Pattern: 6-round pattern.
Rnd 1: Knit
Rnd 2: Knit
Rnd 3: (yo, K1, K2tog) repeat to end.
Rnd 4: Knit
Rnd 5: Knit
Rnd 6: (K2tog, yo, K1) repeat to end.
Repeat pattern rnds 1-6 three times.
Knit around until the beanie measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.
Crown Shaping: (9 Sections)
Rnd 1: (K8, K2tog)
Rnd 2: and each even number round: knit plain around.
Rnd 3: (K7, K2tog)
Rnd 5: (K6, K2tog)
When circular needles become too long for the decreasing amount of stitches, begin knitting off onto double point needles or 2 circular needles.
Rnd 7: (K5, K2tog)
Rnd 9: (K4, K2tog)
Rnd 11: (K3, K2tog)
Rnd 13: (K2, K2tog)
Rnd 15: (K1, K2tog)
Rnd 16: (K2tog)
Finishing: Only 2 stitches remain in each section. Break yarn, leaving 12″. Thread onto a tapestry needle and loosely thread through the remaining stitches. Thread through a 2nd time and pull tightly to close the remaining hole. Thread to inside and stitch in place to secure. Weave in and out of a few stitches, and clip the remaining yarn.
