HEAD PROTECTION
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS BEFORE WEARING THIS HELMET.
Duo Safety hard hats are shipped with the suspension disengaged from the shell
to prevent distortion during shipping. The suspension must be correctly
installed according to the instructions to assure proper fit and protection.
Duo Safety hard hats meet the ANSI/ISEA Z89.1, Type I, Class E and G
requirements for Industrial Head Protection. Refer to shell label for specific
standard “Type” and “Class” levels for each model.
WARNING
Keep this plastic bag out of the hands of infants and children. It is not a
toy and infants and children should not play with the bag. Wrapping of the
plastic material around or over the head, causing the material to cover or
cling to the nose or mouth, can cause personal injury or death by suffocation.
Failure to follow these warnings could result in death or serious injury.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Suspension Installation:
Turn hat shell upside down and place suspension inside the hat with brow
pad toward the front bill (4-pt suspension shown in Fig. 1). Insert the
suspension key into its respective slot (Fig. 2). Push key firmly into place
until it clicks (Fig. 3). Repeat for each key. 6-point hats will have six keys
and 4-point hats will have four keys. indicates that the suspension may be
installed in reverse (brow pad opposite brim).
Adjusting the Suspension Size:
Flex-Gear™ Ratchet Style Suspension:
Turn ratchet knob counterclockwise until headband opens to largest size.
Place hat on your head and turn ratchet knob clockwise until it fits
comfortably (Fig. 4). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Self-Sizing Style Suspension:
Unseat sizing posts on the back of the headband and slide the headband
through the sizing buckle to increase/decrease the size.
Insert all four sizing posts into the nearest sizing holes (Fig. 4).
Suspension Height (Vertical) Adjustment:
You DO NOT have to remove the suspension in order to vertically adjust the
height. The suspension has two vertical positions: high and low. A custom fit
can be accomplished by simply pulling the key peg out and inserting it into
the desired slot height position on the headband (Fig. 5).
Cleaning, Storage and Replacement
Clean the hard hat and suspension with mild soap and lukewarm water. Do not
use paints, solvents chemicals, adhesives, gasoline or like substances on this
hat. The impact resistance and other protective properties of the hat may be
destroyed by such substances. These dangerous conditions may not be apparent
or readily detectable by the user.
This helmet does not have an indefinite service life. Conditions found in many
work environments, such as exposure to ultraviolet light, temperature
extremes, chemical exposure, and wear and tear from daily use will reduce the
protective properties of the helmet over time.
Storage: Store helmet in a clean, dry environment not over 49° C (120°
F). Do not store in direct sunlight.
Replacement Recommendations: It is recommended that the suspension be
replaced every 12 months, and the hard hat shell be replaced every 2 – 5
years. Please refer to your company guidelines to see if your employer has a
specific replacement program.
WARNING
Hard hats are designed to provide limited protection to the head by reducing
the force of falling objects striking the top of the hard hat shell. While
limited protection is provided in other parts of the shell, this hard hat was
not designed to provide front, side or rear impact protection. Avoid contact
with electrical wires. NEVER ALTER OR MODIFY THE SHELL OR SUSPENSION SYSTEM.
ALWAYS USE DUO SAFETY REPLACEMENT PARTS.
Inspect your hard hat shell and suspension regularly. Check for cracks, frayed
straps and any signs of damage before each use. Replace the hard hat
immediately if you notice any signs of wear, damage, abuse or environmental
degradation. If the hard hat has sustained a forcible blow (impact), dispose
of it immediately, even if damage is not visible. Failure to follow these
warnings could result in death or serious injury.
