Product Usage Instructions
Before the First Use of Your Coffee Maker
- Place the Coffee Maker on a solid level surface, ensuring that it is strong enough to hold the weight of the unit when filled with water.
- Open the Water Tank Door and fill the Water Tank to the desired level, ensuring that the Water level does not exceed both the Max Level and Min Level.
- Without adding coffee at this stage, place the Filter Holder including either the empty 1 Cup Filter or 2 Cup Filter into the Coffee Maker and then turn anti-clockwise until it is in the ‘Lock’ position.
- Insert the mains plug into the mains socket.
- Press the On/Off Button on the Control Panel, the button should illuminate to indicate the unit is on.
- Press the 1 Cup Button on the Control Panel.
Using Your Emerald Coffee Maker
- Open the Water Tank Door and fill the Water Tank to the desired level, ensuring that the Water level does not exceed both the Max Level and Min Level.
- Place the Filter Holder including either the empty 1 Cup Filter or 2 Cup Filter into the Coffee Maker and then turn anti-clockwise until it is in the ‘Lock’ position.
- Add coffee to the Filter Holder using the Measuring Spoon/Tamper.
- Close the Water Tank Door.
- Insert the mains plug into the mains socket.
- Press the On/Off Button on the Control Panel, the button should illuminate to indicate the unit is on.
- Press either the 1 Cup Button or 2 Cup Button on the Control Panel to start brewing.
- For steaming milk, press the Steam Button on the Control Panel after brewing is complete.

How do I clean the coffee maker?

Before the First Use of Your Coffee Maker
- Remove all packing materials and discard responsibly.
- Clean housing of the Coffee Maker with a clean, soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Clean the Water Tank (5) with a clean, soft damp cloth, it is recommended that the Water Tank Door (2) is left open for a while to allow the Water Tank (5) to dry thoroughly.
- Never clean with harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquids.
- Do not clean any part of your Coffee Maker in a dishwasher.
- Ensure that the Steam Dial (4) is set to off.
Using Your Emerald Coffee Maker
Cleaning through the system before first brew
- Place the Coffee Maker on a solid level surface, ensuring that it is strong enough to hold the weight of the unit when filled with water.
- Open the Water Tank Door (2) and fill the Water Tank (5) to the desired level, ensuring that the Water level does not exceed both the Max Level (3) and Min Level (7)
- Without adding coffee at this stage, place the Filter Holder (9) including either the empty 1 Cup Filter (11) or 2 Cup Filter (12) into the Coffee Maker and then turn anti-clockwise until it is in the ‘Lock’ position.
- Insert the mains plug into the mains socket.
- Press the On/Off Button (a) on the Control Panel (1), the button should illuminate to indicate the unit is on.
- Press the 1 Cup Button (b) on the Control Panel (1), the Coffee Maker will then begin to pump the water through the system. When water begins to flow out, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping by pressing the 1 Cup Button (b) again. Press the Steam Button (d) and wait as the Coffee Maker will begin to pre-heat until the 1 Cup Button (b) illuminates. Press the 1 Cup Button (b) and hot water will flow out.
- After the Coffee Maker has finished flowing water from, discard the water ejected and clean the cup and then you are able to start brewing coffee.
There may be a slight noise emitted from the appliance when using for the first time, this is normal as the appliance is releasing the air inside. This should disappear after approximately 20 seconds of first use.
Pre-heating
To make a cup of good Espresso coffee, it is recommend to preheat the Coffee Maker before making coffee. Pre-heating includes Filter Holder (9) and the cup(s) so that the flavour of the coffee is not influenced by any cold parts.
- Remove the Water Tank (5) and fill to the desired water level, ensuring that the Water level does not exceed both the Max Level (3) and Min Level (7). Then place the Water Tank (5) back into the Coffee Maker accordingly.
- Select the filter required from either the 1 Cup Filter (11 and insert into the Filter Holder (9).
- Insert the Filter Holder (9) into the Coffee Maker and then turn anti-clockwise until it is in the ‘Lock’ position.
- Place a suitable cup onto the Drip Tray (8).
- Insert the mains plug into the mains socket, ensure that the Steam Dial (4) is set to off.
- Press the On/Off Button (a) on the Control Panel (1), the button should illuminate to indicate the unit is on.
- Press the 1 Cup Button (b) on the Control Panel (1) once, the 1 Cup Button (b) will illuminate and flash until the pre-heating is complete and it will illuminate solidly. The Coffee Maker will then begin to pump the water through the system. When water begins to flow out, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping by pressing the 1 Cup Button (b) again.
- When the 1 Cup Button (b) is illuminated, press the 1 Cup Button (b) again and hot water will flow out of the Coffee Maker. When the 1 Cup Button (b) is no longer illuminated, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping by pressing the 1 Cup Button (b) again.
Making an Espresso
- Remove the Filter Holder (9) turning clockwise until it is free from the Coffee Maker.
- Using the Measuring Spoon/Tamper (10), add ground coffee to either the 1 Cup Filter (11) or 2 Cup Filter (12). For one small cup of coffee use only fill the Measuring Spoon/Tamper (10) half way, for two cups fill completely.
- Press the ground coffee tightly into the filter using the flat end of the Measuring Spoon/Tamper (10).
- Place the filter with ground coffee into the Filter Holder (9).
- Replace the Filter Holder (9) into the Coffee Maker and then turn anti-clockwise until it is in the ‘Lock’ position.
- Place a suitable cup onto the Drip Tray (8), ensuring if used in the Pre-heating process above that it has been washed and dried thoroughly.
- Press the 1 Cup Button (b) or 2 Cup Button (c) dependant on the Filter added and desired number of cups required on the Control Panel (1) and coffee will flow out of the Coffee Maker, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping further when cup has reached desired level by pressing the 1 Cup Button (b) or 2 Cup Button (c) again respectively.
WARNING! Do not leave the Coffee Maker unattended when making coffee, as
you need to operate manually.
During brewing coffee or when making steam, it is normal for the 1 Cup Button
(c)/2 Cup Button (d) to illuminate intermittently. This indicates that the
heater within the Coffee Maker is maintain the correct temperature required.
Making a Cappuccino

Prepare the coffee as per the espresso instructions above, ensure that the cup used is large enough to accommodate both the coffee and frothed milk.

Ensure that the Steam Dial (4) is set to off.
-
Press the Steam Button (d), until it illuminates.
-
Fill a jug with around 100ml of milk for each required cappuccino.
Whole milk straight from the fridge is recommended.
When choosing the size of jug, it is recommended to use a jug with a diameter of no less than 70mm. it is also recommended to ensure that the jug is tall enough as milk will double in volume. -
Turn the Steam Dial (4) slowly anti-clockwise, steam will be emitted from the Steam Wand (6).
WARNING! Always turn the Steam Dial (4) slowly, to release the steam in a controlled manner and prevent pressure from being built within the Coffee Maker. -
Insert the Steam Wand (6) into the jug of milk to a depth of around two centimetre, froth the milk moving the jug up and down.

When the required level of froth is reached, return the Steam Dial (4) to the off position. Clean the Steam Wand (6) immediately after use, allowing steam to be fully released first.

Pour the frothed milk into the previously prepared espresso mix, sweeten to own personal taste where required.

Press the On/Off Button (a) on the Control Panel (1), the button should extinguish to indicate the unit is off. After steaming, it is recommended to allow the Coffee Maker to fully cool for at least 5 minutes before making coffee again. A burnt odour/taste may be present if you do not allow the unit to cool between uses.
De-scaling your Emerald Coffee Maker
- When tap water is heated, calcium and other minerals found in the mains water supply attach themselves to the inner workings of your Coffee Maker. Excessive build of these calcium and mineral deposits will create blockages to the Coffee maker, Steam Tube and should be cleaned regularly. If you live in an area with particularly Hard Water, descaling regularly is recommended or where possible using bottled or filtered water is ideal.
- Do not use vinegar to descale your Coffee Maker, it is recommended to use a commercially available decalcification agent. Ensure that the quantities recommended on the decalcification agent instructions are carefully followed to prevent any damage occurring to your Coffee Maker.
- To ensure your Coffee maker operates efficiently descaling is recommended every 4 weeks or every 2 weeks if you live in an area of Hard Water.
Descaling instructions:
- Fill the Water Tank (5) with water and descaling agent to the Max Level (3).
- Replace the Water Tank (5).
- Press the On/Off Button (a)
- Place a suitable cup onto the Drip Tray (8).
- Insert the mains plug into the mains socket, ensure that the Steam Dial (4) is set to off.
- Press the On/Off Button (a) on the Control Panel (1), the button should illuminate to indicate the unit is on.
- Press the 1 Cup Button (b) on the Control Panel (1) once, the 1 Cup Button (b) will illuminate and flash until the pre-heating is complete and it will illuminate solidly. The Coffee Maker will then begin to pump the water through the system. When water begins to flow out, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping by pressing the 1 Cup Button (b) again.
- When the 1 Cup Button (b) is illuminated, press the 1 Cup Button (b) again and hot water will flow out of the Coffee Maker. When the 1 Cup Button (b) is no longer illuminated, stop the Coffee Maker from pumping by pressing the 1Cup Button (b) again.
The Coffee Maker will remind you to descale every 500 cycles, as the 4 buttons on the Control Panel (1) will illuminate and quickly flash 5 times once pre- heating has been completed and this will happen each use until the unit is descaled. To reset this function if not required, press and hold both the 1 Cup Button (b) and 2 Cup Button (c) when not in use but connected to the mains supply for 3 seconds until both illuminate and flash 3 times and the working cycles will return to 0.
Removing and Cleaning the Drip Tray
- The Drip Tray (8) can be removed from the Coffee Maker to empty and clean periodically. To remove, lift the Drip
- Tray (8) from the Coffee Maker housing.
- Once removed the Drip Tray (8) consists of 3 component parts as can bee seen below;
- The Water Level Indicator will rise as the Drip Tray (8) starts to fill with water, until the indicator protrudes through the corresponding hole on the Drip Tray Plate. The Drip Tray (8) must be emptied at this point as water will continue to overfill the Drip Tray (8). The component parts can be washed with warm soapy water and dried with a clean cloth, it is recommended to leave the Drip Tray Housing to dry with the Drip Tray Plate off.
Care and Maintenance
- Expel any water remaining in the Coffee Maker, by running the steam function for approximately 2-3 minutes, or until steam is no longer expelled from the Steam Wand (6).
- Disconnect the Coffee Maker from the mains supply and allow to cool completely before cleaning.
- Clean housing of the Coffee Maker with a clean, soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Clean the Water Tank (5) with a clean, soft damp cloth, it is recommended that the Water Tank Door (2) is left open for a while to allow the Water Tank (5) to dry thoroughly. Please note that for easier cleaning the Water Tank (5) can be detached.
- Wash the Drip Tray (8) regularly. Please note that the Drip Tray (8) can be removed from the main unit for easy cleaning and the metal cover can also be removed.
- Never clean with harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquids.
- Do not clean any part of your Coffee Maker in a dishwasher.
- Do not allow water to sit in the Water Tank (5) between uses, empty after each use.
- Clean the appliance after each and every use in order to keep the appliance in good working order.
